* ConspicuousTrenchcoat: a part of the standard Giallo villain fashion.

* DubNameChange: The English dub the Anglicizes character names, though the script remains unchanged so the setting is still Rome:

* DubNameChange: Many of the characters' names were altered in the English version to sound less "Italian":

* MoodLighting: Seemingly every room in the film is lit with surreal, unnatural pools of red, blue, yellow, purple, and green light. Franco's antiques shop is next door to a huge neon sign that flashes on and off every few seconds, causing a pattern of pitch blackness and blue lighting that basically serves as HollywoodDarkness.

** [[spoiler:Peggy]]'s corpse keeps falling out of things. First it spills out of the trunk of Greta's car. When Greta pulls back a dressing screen to check on the corpse, it collapses onto her, knocking her over.

* SoundtrackDissonance: a movie about a masked killer butchering woman, set to...lounge jazz?
* TranslationConvention: As per standard in giallo films, all the actors speak in their native languages, and their dialogue is dubbed over with the language of the country the film is released in. Isabella's diary is written in Italian, but in the English language version, it's read as English, so it seems as though English stands for Italian. The murderer writes out a message in German, however, so it's unclear if he's supposed to be speaking German at times.

* VehicleVanish: The purse with the very important diary is sitting on a table. Some people bring a rack full of clothes by. When they pass, the purse is gone.

* KillEmAll: [[spoiler:Every major character including the killers is dead at the end of the film except for the useless detective.]]

* EvilAllAlong: [[spoiler: Massimo Morlacchi/Max Morlan engineered all the killings, and even duped her and attempted to kill her to be rid of her for her money. He seems an okay guy in the beginning, but he's completely evil.

* AdvertisedExtra: Surprisingly, [[spoiler: the top-billed Cameron Mitchell has much less than you'd expect to do in the film. We see him in two scenes in the beginning, and then not again until all the male suspects are brought into the police station as suspects, about 50 minutes into the film. He does get some additional screen time in the third act, and eventually turn out to be the BigBad, but considering his placement in the credits, virtually all of the other billed characters end up having more screen time than Mitchell's character in the first two acts. For sheer screen time, Thomas Steiner's Inspector Sylvestri is arguably the character who gets the most in the film, yet he's billed third. Also, Arianna Gorini, billed fourth, and Mary Arden, billed sixth, are the second and third victims, respectively.]]

* NeverSuicide: [[spoiler:Tao-Li]]'s death is arranged to look like a suicide. [[spoiler:We never find out if the police fell for it or not.]]

* BigBadDuumvirate: The kills have been orchestrated by [[spoiler: Max and Contessa Cristina, who turn on each other in the end.]]
