* As the metric by which he graded the students during the Quirk Apprehension Exam is never explained, a commonly seen fanon is that Aizawa ''rigged'' the results to put Midoriya in last place out of personal dislike for him. This is used to explain exactly ''how'' Izuku could somehow get dead last despite doing pretty well at the ball toss and presumably average at everything else, especially when compared to others that scored higher than him like Jiro, Hagakure, Mineta, and Koda, all of whom don't have the means of using their Quirks to enhance their scores much aside from Mineta doing the side stepping, as well as falling in line with Aizawa's shown disapproval of Izuku during the entrance exam, and singling him out for "half assing" things when not doing the same for Todoroki for only using his ice. The reasoning for this in fanfics tends to differ, with those using a more sympathetic Aizawa having him change his mind about Izuku after the ball toss, leading to his declaration no one would be expelled much like in canon. Those that go for a more [[AccusationFic unsympathetic take]] have someone figure out Aizawa rigged the scores and taking him to task for his bias, ''especially'' if he actually went through with expelling Midoriya, ''didn't'' reenroll him immediately after like his canon expulsion scare tactic, and no one managed to stop him, such as in ''Fanfic/PeacesApprentice''.

* Fans believe that the group of adult heroes in the manga has [[EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether all studied in U.A. together]]. Particularly, All Might, Aizawa, Present Mic, Midnight, and Endeavor. The relationship between All Might and Endeavor would also have been similar to Bakugo and Midoriya, but Endeavor would openly want All Might to [[WeCanRuleTogether join him]] so they would become stronger than anyone else. There ''is'' something to this theory; Aizawa and Present Mic were in the same class, and Mic was the one who came up with Aizawa's hero name, Eraser Head. ''Vigilantes'' would later confirm that Midnight was an upperclassman to the two. Some fans also believe that Endeavor's obsession with All Might started in high school, with some falling out between them causing it. Shippers think that they are exes that ended on poor terms. However, canon indicates that All Might was already the number one hero when Endeavor started his career (combined with All Might going to America to start his hero career and attending college immediately after graduating from U.A.), and Midnight refers to All Might as an "older man", so it's unlikely they went to school at the same time he did.

** Whether they are paired up as friends or a couple, Jirou often calls Midoriya by the AffectionateNickname of "Green".

* Since their introduction, the Meta Liberation Army has frequently been depicted in fanfics as being extremely biased against the Quirkless and even using their positions of power in society to censor the exploits of Quirkless heroes and individuals. If Midoriya is some sort of Quirkless notable they will appear earlier than canon and be racist against him for it while trying to obscure him from the general public. Outside of Geten mentioning [[TheSocialDarwinist social Darwinist views]] about one's place in society being determined by one's Quirk, the army members have never said anything that can be used to extrapolate this behavior and this is simply used to add more active anti-Quirkless discrimination.

** To add fuel to their villainy, Detnerat is often decipted as an EvilInc that not secretly provides weapons disguised as Support Items to the black market, but also refuses to provide services to groups they hate, like mutants and Quirkless people. They are also presented as an IncompetenceInc., providing floppy and poorly made products to civillians and heroes. Fans even go as far as blaming them for Yaoyorozu and Hagakure's poorly made costume designs.

* Many fans tend to think Aizawa refers to Midoriya ''exclusively'' as "Problem Child", to the point of making it an InSeriesNickname. In truth, it's a case of BeamMeUpScotty, with him only ever calling Midoriya that ''once'' in canon, and as a term of endearment.

** Aldera is often believed to have doctored the records of their students to ensure that they get into high ranking schools, specifically making Bakugo's record spotless akin to a model student, and Midoriya's filled with BlatantLies suggesting he picks fights and causes trouble, often to explain why Bakugo was even accepted to UA and why Midoriya is referred to as a "Problem Child". This tends to ignore that UA's entrance exams are independent of prior school records, that Aizawa only calls Midoriya "Problem Child" ''once'' and only ever had issue with him due to thinking his Quirk made him a liability, and that the principle of Aldera Middle School congratulated ''both'' Bakugo and Midoriya for getting into UA.

* According to Horikoshi, Ibara Shiozaki was originally slated to be a member of Class 1-A. Fans mistakenly believe this was changed due to him finding her hair difficult to draw, as both statements came from the same character brief. However, Horikoshi simply stated in the brief that he couldn't remember the exact reason, something that would be unlikely if it was connected to the aforementioned hair issues. Additionally, quite a few fans believe that Shiozaki is a Catholic, while in canon there's no real indication of what denomination she is a part of. Her hero name originally being Maria in development lends credence to this since Catholicism is known for its veneration of Mary, but it is not the only denomination to do so [[note]]Reverance for Mary can also be seen in Eastern Orthodoxy, Lutheranism, and Anglicanism[[/note]].

* Toya and Fuyumi being twins was a popular assumption before it was confirmed they are a year apart. Fan works that use this idea also sometimes give Fuyumi the inverse condition of Toya's Quirk, inheriting Rei's ice Quirk but having weakness to frost and heat resistance. While it was later confirmed Fuyumi does have an ice Quirk, a comment from Natsuo about him and Fuyumi not doing well in the heat debunks the latter part. Both ideas still often pop up in fan works, but nowadays more as an AU and FandomSpecificPlot than something the fic author believes is canon.

Calling Uwabami a Nominal Hero is an overexaggeration. Her worst trait is that she has Skewed Priorities, focusing more on the modeling than normal hero work, but she does do normal hero work like at Kamino.

I question which if any of her behavior can seem reminiscent of "black behavior" when none of her personality traits are specifically coded that way, nor have I seen any widespread insinuations that they are, and most no-Quirk settings settle for her being Ambiguously Brown at best, which is hardly unique when plenty of fanworks give the characters darker skin, and otherwise defaults to Asian, since she is Japanese, or caucasian. So the idea that her being black on some level is a widespread fanon seems untree.

* Due to her appearance and mannerisms, a lot of fans believe Mina has a black ethnic background and would have dark skin if not for her Quirk. Fan works set in an AlternateUniverse [[{{Mundanization}} without Quirks]] almost always depict her as black.

* It is fairly common for fan works to depict Natsuo as Quirkless. This is likely due to the fact that unlike the rest of the Todoroki family, his Quirk is neither clearly shown nor mentioned, leaving enough room to interpret him that way. Given that he can withstand the cold and doesn't do well in warm weather, it is more likely he has an ice Quirk akin to his mother and sister (though Toya having a similar condition despite possessing a fire Quirk shows it is possible for Rei's children to inherit her cold-resistance without also inheriting her ice Quirk).

* Quirkless discrimination, while present in canon to some degree, is almost nonexistent outside of Aldera (and even then it was limited to just Bakugo and his GangOfBullies), and the few times Midoriya's past as a Quirkless individual comes up is always in the context of somebody who has yet to master his Quirk. Fanon expands this idea outward in a hundred different directions from being entirely unacceptable targets to being the casual targets by everyone to something in between. Expect topics like "Quirkless rights", "Quirkism" (discrimination based on Quirks that targets the Quirkless as well), and "Quirkless homelands" to feature in fics without anything to source them in canon bar Aldera in a very loose sense of the idea of a source. As a reverse, the manga does focus on discrimination suffered by people with Mutant Quirks and Quirks with "undesirable" side effects (such as Toga's Quirk compelling her to drink blood) yet ninety-nine times out of hundred said discrimination is completely ignored in fanfiction, usually for the sake of Quirkless discrimination.

* In many fanworks, Naomasa Tsukauchi was depicted as having a LivingLieDetector Quirk due to his job as a police officer and [[Characters/MyHeroAcademiaVigilantesMainCharacters his sister's]] Quirk being one as well. Some, however, depicted him as being Quirkless due in part to All Might's initial suggestion to the then Quirkless Midoriya to join the police force. The former was turned into an AscendedFanon when the official data book reveals that his Quirk is indeed a LivingLieDetector.

* There are many speculations about Ms. Joke and Aizawa's past as pro heroes, the most common one being that they would actually work together a lot despite belonging to different agencies, which started their usual dynamics.
* Despite [[ValuesDissonance the incredibly strict laws against recreational drug use in Japan]], Hawks' very ''odd'' demeanor in the series sometimes leads fans to depict him as TheStoner. Not helped at all by a mistranslation of the manga where he straight up says he wants to "roll up a joint" (this turned out to be false, he was simply stating he wanted to relax).
* A somewhat common misconception is that Mt. Lady was one of the heroes who chewed out Izuku for his attempt at saving Bakugo from the Sludge Villain. The only named heroes who did that, however, were Death Arms and Kamui Woods, as Mt. Lady was busy aiding in collecting the body of the Sludge Villain after All Might scattered him. One possible reason for this misconception may be owed to how, before the creation of the Lurkers group and they being associated with Edgeshot, Mt. Lady and Kamui Woods were initially depicted in a trio with Death Arms, causing some to conflate the actions of Death Arms and Kamui Woods towards Midoriya as involving Mt. Lady too.
* A common misconception, and frequent FandomSpecificPlot fuel, is that the heroes present at the Sludge Villain attack were willing to let Bakugo die since none of them had a "compatible Quirk" for dealing with the Sludge Villain. The only one that could really be seen as guilty of that though is Death Arms, who was standing back after being knocked around once up until Izuku ran in. Of the other named heroes, however, Mt. Lady couldn't do anything since the road was too narrow and littered with injured people for her to gigantify, so she'd be no more useful than a Quirkless civilian, and was explicitly a rookie still, making her less experienced in this kind of situation, while Kamui Woods was at risk of being burned due to being [[LogicalWeakness wood-based]] yet was still rescuing civilians, and Backdraft was preoccupied both with keeping other civilians from getting too close to the flames, and ''putting out'' the flames. None of them was ''willing'' to let Bakugo die, there was just literally nothing they could ''do'' in that situation.
* In canon, the Hero Public Safety Commission manages relations between heroes and police, the distribution of hero licenses, and handles cases involving the most dangerous criminals. They also hid some ''major'' dirty laundry in the name of maintaining the facade that society was in a time of peace, as while publicly they appeared to be reasonable, they were grooming kids with powerful Quirks like Keigo Takami and Kaina Tsutsumi into the rising star pro heroes Hawks and Lady Nagant, before then using them as their agents, espionage for the former and assassination for the latter, then tossing the latter aside after attempting to kill her when she grew tired of the lying and killing. Aside from that though, the HPSC did not intersect with the main cast. In fanon, however, they are more along the lines of [[Series/TheBoys2019 Vought]], often cast in a much more deliberately antagonistic role, depicted as {{Obstructive Bureaucrat}}s, having a very antagonistic relationship with U.A. via Nezu, and caring less about keeping the public safe and more concerned with maintaining control, in turn being much more openly corrupt, even suggesting that Lady Nagant was not their ''first'' attempt at a groomed pro-hero, and they'd be entirely willing to recruit any of the students at U.A. were it not for Nezu. In fics where Midoriya doesn't have One for All or any Quirk, the idea of a Quirkless hero is so outrageous against the status quo, that HSPC is constantly attempting to ruin his life before he graduates, and failing because of [[BigGood Nezu's]], who is often his mentor, intervention. There is also the belief that not only the Commission was well aware of Endeavor's domestic abuse, but they covered everything up, from Toya's death, to Shoto's accident and Rei's incarceration at the mental hospital, in order to not let the image of the Number Two Hero be tarnished. In most of the times, Endeavor is represented as their most trusted and loyal asset, that the Commission intends to plant as the next Number One hero to have further control over society.

They also hid some ''major'' dirty laundry in the name of maintaining the facade that society many fanworks, Naomasa Tsukauchi was in a time of peace, as while publicly they appeared to be reasonable, they were grooming kids with powerful Quirks like Keigo Takami and Kaina Tsutsumi into the rising star pro heroes Hawks and Lady Nagant, before then using them as their agents, espionage for the former and assassination for the latter, then tossing the latter aside after attempting to kill her when she grew tired of the lying and killing. Aside from that though, the HPSC did not intersect with the main cast. In fanon, however, they are more along the lines of [[Series/TheBoys2019 Vought]], often cast in a much more deliberately antagonistic role, depicted as {{Obstructive Bureaucrat}}s, having a very antagonistic relationship with U.A. via Nezu, LivingLieDetector Quirk due to his job as a police officer and caring less about keeping the public safe and more concerned with maintaining control, in turn [[Characters/MyHeroAcademiaVigilantesMainCharacters his sister's]] Quirk being much more openly corrupt, even suggesting that Lady Nagant was not their ''first'' attempt at a groomed pro-hero, and they'd be entirely willing to recruit any of the students at U.A. were it not for Nezu. In fics where Midoriya doesn't One for All or any Quirk, the idea of a one as well. Some, however, depicted him as being Quirkless hero is so outrageous against due in part to All Might's initial suggestion to the status quo, then Quirkless Midoriya to join the police force. The former was turned into an AscendedFanon when the official data book reveals that HSPC is constantly attempting to ruin his life before he graduates, and failing because of [[BigGood Nezu's]], who Quirk is often his mentor, intervention.

** Given her similarity in both looks and personality with Midnight, Tokage is often decipted as a LovableSexManiac and ShamelessFanserviceGirl that loves to tease everyone, specially Midoriya, if she is one of, or his main love interest. Speaking of Midnight, in many cases she is presented as being her niece, since that actually makes more sense than being her mother.

* Fans believe that Nejire was bullied due to her ConstantlyCurious personality before getting to U.A., with Yuyu Haya being her OnlyFriend. This becomes a Zigzagged AscendedFanon. Yes, Nejire was bullied, but after getting to U.A., and it was because everyone thought she looked down on them due to her powerful Quirk. In fact, she was pretty much a ShrinkingViolet before meeting Amjiki.

Nothing in canon suggests that the Quirkless are seen as less than human (as the entry itself explains) nor that they have high suicide rates. That, ironically, is pure fanon too.

Fan works often justify this belief by stating that mutants and people with "villain" Quirks while mistreated, are still treated as human beings (second-class, but humans still). The Quirkless are seen as less than humans and this often leads to massive suicide rates.

* A recurring idea is that Midoriya wears his [[IconicOutfit eternally-present red sneakers]] due to a lack of options because with Quirkless people being a minority there aren't many footwear brands that accommodate his extra toe joint. * It is fairly common for fan works to depict Natsuo as Quirkless. This is likely due to the fact that unlike the rest of the Todoroki family, his Quirk is neither clearly shown nor mentioned, leaving enough room to interpret him that way. Given that he can withstand the cold and doesn't do well in warm weather, it is more likely he has an ice Quirk akin to his mother and sister.
