* ''Synopsis'': TomClancy Earth gets visited by SpacePirates with [=BattleMech=]s and finds out that their world has been transported into the ''BattleTech'' 'verse. It will not take this lying down.

* Comments: Come for the excellent Suomi Warders series about a small merc unit on a mission in 3052 and the fact every 'Mech fight was gamed before it was written. Stay for the Warders 3057 and some of the most insane BT fiction you will ever read: Urban Legends.

* Comments: Erratic_Cheese's work is, quite simply, the most hilariously screwed-up fanfiction you will ever read for this or any other universe. Palerider's Urbanmech Brigade, the PUB, is here to do their merc-y thing. It'll all end in tears of laughter and metaphors [[MindScrew your mind will reject in horror]]. Though it might be best to skip Preacher Man.

* Comments: New World Order is one of the best BattleTech novels ever written. The fact it's a fanwork does not detract from this in the slightest, though you might rage a bit over the [[spoiler: aliens]], it all ultimately works out quite well and is easily worthy of the time to read it. The author was good enough to get noticed by Loren L. Coleman and seemed about to turn pro, before he disappeared in the midst of writing the sequel.

* Comments: One of the few Dark Age-era fics, Grand Theft Agro, as its title would suggest, clearly was inspired by the sandbox crime game genre. The fic does a lot with one faction/unit that is, for the most part, under-developed so far in canon and uses an entirely original cast to do such. Still in progress, though the last part is being posted in chunks and the author seems reliable. As a bonus, the first part of the story has been [[CanonImmigrant canonised]], although it’s unlikely that the rest will be.

Plus the nature of the work means it's harder to fall victim to DeadFic... One hopes. If you're game you may even want to add your two cents, but tread lightly, for the discussion threads show quite a bit of punishing the DanBrowned and ranting...
