* GoodIsNotNice/GoodIsNotSoft: Transcendent Humanity currently plans on [[spoiler:killing a large portion of the Admiralty (maybe 16) in order to bring them under their sway to prepare for the Destroyers, simply because that's easiest since they can [[MakeItLookLikeanAccident Make It Look Like an Accident]]]]. They are also only looking to dominate culturally because other methods would be too costly.

* MohsScaleOfScienceFictionHardness: An interesting case of both Mohs/SpeculativeScience and Mohs/OneBigLie. Humanity didn't have any Element Zero and consequently couldn't explore that branch of physics, since they lacked the means and results against which to test, falsify and reevaluate their theories. The discovery of the Charon gate and Element Zero however are the One Big Lie of the MassEffect universe. In a sense the story is a [[XMeetsY combination]] of Literature/{{Accelerando}} and [[Creator/HarryTurtledove The Road Not Taken]].

* CrystalSpiresAndTogas: Not exactly. The digital space is anything you want it to be however, and some people, at least, 'wear' robes.

* FlechetteStorm: The Transcendent Humanity's 'Pop Guns'. 100m long cylinders that then explode into a storm of extremely well guided anti-matter propelled flechettes... They absolutely destroy ships.

* OhCrap: The collective Turian reaction upon arival at Sol... And noting that their entire military would be outnumbered 10+:1 if it was present... And to Humanities Technical abilities. Notice a pattern here?

* PetTheDog: Telyin, an Asari who sold Udina some pastries makes a joke that she'd be set for life if all humans love her food as much as he does. Udina promises to see what he can do, and three years later she's running the first alien cafe in the Sol System which is apparently more popular than every restaurant on the Citadel.
* PullTheThread: Not just yet, but Humanity has already ascertained that [[spoiler:the Asari almost definitely have a Prothean beacon and are reverse engineering technology from it to keep up but aren't going far enough to completely dominate... Their other ideas are that Asari are technological savants when it comes to reverse engineering (dismissed) or they have a Destroyer beacon (deemed unlikely)...]] And they already know the Citadel [[spoiler:is the centre of the Mass Relay network (decided not to point out just yet also).]]
* RefugeInAudacity: Humanity's response to [[spoiler:the Council's above concern over Humanity having the other races dreadnought schematics. "You weren't hiding it that well."... Humanity proceeds to pay the Turians (who's dreadnoughts were the repayment) with a Dreadnought, 6 Cruisers, 15 Frigates and 5 flights of fighters, as repayment for having stolen their schematics...]]
* SchmuckBait: A Ghost disables several ships, with a virus containing email. The bait is a supposedly scantily dressed Batarian women with a common name.

* ShoutOut: The passcode for Whisker is one to ''Serenity,'' specifically, the first scene of the movie with Mal and Wash.

* VoluntaryShapeShifting: All of humanity, to an extent. In fact, they treat physical bodies as disposable and, in Udina's case aboard the cruiser ''By Other Means,'' his body is ''melted down into raw organic material'' and recreated at the other end while his consciousness sits pretty in a simulation.
* WhoWantsToLiveForever: Averted. It is noted that, due to Uploading, death is extremely rare- and the population has soared into the trillions.

* LoopholeAbuse: Humanity is given amnesty regarding the laws banning [=AIs=] and allowed to vet any new AI developed. The Geth legally join humanity the day before said amnesty goes into effect and leaves the day after.

* FirstTimeFeeling: The Geth Envoy eat toast through a organic home-body. After the first hour of adapting to organic sensation. [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments ''Her'' hands tremble]].

* SciFiWritersHave/NoSenseOfUnits: By the time a DysonSphere is big enough to have an effect on a star, it's population should be well above a couple of trillions. By the time its inhabitants would consider building another...

* StoryBreakerPower: Averted. While the hacking abilities of the humans give them a major advantage compared to the computing power of the other races, they don't have any Element Zero based technology yet, which is one of the reasons they can't just conquer the galaxy to unite it against the Destroyers/Reapers.

* [[BringMyBrownPants Bring My Yellow Pants]]: Whisky is glad she/he doesn't have a physical form when she/he confirms that the Reapers/Destroyers still exist. However in this case it's yellow pants.
