A more solid confirmation comes in A New Day's final arc, which reveals that Natsu [[spoiler: was a normal human who lived in a village until a series of unfortunate events led to him developing amnesia before being adopted by Igneel, pretty much getting rid of any relation he had to Zeref in Canon.]]
