Hurting Hero is a disambiguation

* HurtingHero: Ruby hides it pretty well at first, but it's clear that losing her teammates from both Beta Company and Noble Team, as well as everyone else she could not save during the Human-Covenant War, has taken a toll on her.

* ManOnFire: More like "Brute on Fire", but an example nonetheless. In ''Fall Of Reach'', Part Nine, "Burned And Turned To Glass", a Brute Minor gets shot with a plasma pistol. The heat from the shot sets its' fur on fire, causing it to try putting itself out... only to be followed up with a GroinAttack (see above).

This or these examples of Surprisingly Realistic Outcome seem to violate at least one of these rules, which disqualifies them: No character reactions (characters get angry, don't forgive, don't change their personality instantly, etc.); Too fantastical (depends on the properties of magic, powers, sci-fi tech, monsters, etc.); Not surprising (a character was warned about the outcome, it's used to provide Karma or An Aesop, or it simply follows normal conventions for this genre or medium); Plot happens (the example only describes an event, but not why audiences would expect a different, unrealistic outcome); Not an outcome (a character just explains why something wouldn't work as expected, or something is just an innate aspect of the setting or character that has a logical reason for being present); More of a Deconstruction (the event has major, lasting effects on the plot, make something more realistic, but not completely realistic, or a parody/fanwork applies realistic consequences to the events of a different work); or fits better under a different trope. See the trope's definition for more details. If you believe a removal was a mistake, please bring it up in the cleanup thread.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** Ruby has spent so much time with the UNSC that she's lost some of her heritage from Remnant - case in point, her obssession over weapons is muted significantly in this story, and she is more willing to buy weapons from a gunshop owner than design her own.
** While Noble Six ultimately was slain at the end of ''VideoGame/HaloReach'', it took [[ArcNumber seven]] elites of various ranks to do so, due to the former being a OneManArmy. Ruby is at a comparable level to a Spartan-III ''even without augments'', so it's unsurprising that she kills all of those elites on her own.
*** Additionally, rather than continue sending hordes of {{Mooks}} after Ruby, the Covenant eventually cut their losses and try to glass her. General military strategy to take out extremely entrenched targets is to hit them with artillery, after all.
** The Kingdoms are primarily used to fighting Grimm, and have designed their technology around doing so. This leaves them ''woefully'' underequipped for when the Covenant show up at the end of Volume 1, as they operate on a totally different level of conflict. Additionally, the Covenant are pretty much unassailable by Remnant forces, since Dust doesn't work in space.
** [[spoiler: Jaune is killed off during a mission due to exposing himself while trying to get a better communication signal. Without Pyrrha to train him (as she had undergone DeathOfPersonality due to taking Autumn's powers), his training gets stunted and his lack of prior Huntsman training ends up doing him in.]]
** [[spoiler:The above happened due to another instance of realism- the Covenant are now aware that one of the most dangerous Spartans still in existence (Ruby) is on Remnant, so rather than attempt to drown her in bodies, they deploy dedicated anti-Spartan warriors (in this instance, a Prelate) to try and eliminate her. And as each Prelate is a OneManArmy, they are more than capable of wiping the floor with a party of Huntsmen-In-Training. In other words, Ruby's fucked. Badly.]]

* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: When Weiss sees Ruby's recordings of her time on Reach, she's surprised when Jorge apparently calls Halsey "mom", only for Ruby to tell her it's actually the result of his accent, and that he really said "ma'am". This is something several fanfiction writers have accidentally let slip. Though as Jorge is a Spartan II, it actually makes sense that he'd call her "Mom" since that's basically what Halsey was to all of them, a strict, yet caring step-mother.
