Nuclear weapons are particular NightmareFuel to them, being machines capable of destroying souls.

Shinji rapidly becomes either [[OCStandIn unrecognizable]] or [[YourMileageMayVary more]] [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation "natural"]]. A bit of AuthorAppeal with the militarization of NERV and the way a certain character dresses. The [[OriginalCharacter OCs]] are a lot of fun. By the same author is ''Fanfic/TheReturn'', a {{Ranma}}/SailorMoon cross which does much the same thing with those franchises.

* MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter - And the man that embraces the above to the fullest just happens to be ''Asuka's'' father. [[spoiler:Former MIT Professor Tino Noah Insana. You can guess his [[TheSpoonyExperiment nickname.]] Arguably a [[strike:worse]] weirder father than Gendo, and in charge of [[ItGotWorse S2 research.]]]]

Of course, this tactic usually means wiping out a fair chunk of the surrounding area. And you definitely don't want your pilot and Operations Director getting caught in the blast. Nevertheless, with a proven alternative available, NERV's political position has changed big time. And Shinji? Well...

* RobotGirl - Subverted by Kiko, who is [[spoiler:a [[OrganicTechnology human/Eva hybrid]].

* AsteroidsMonster - Israfel keeps splitting and doesn't stop until it numbers in the hundreds. Then they start using tactics, proving that, yes, the Angels are getting smarter. [[spoiler:Matarael]] uses a very similar tactic in its attack.

* BodyHorror - [[spoiler:Asuka basically gets partially liquified by Matarael's acid attack in ch. 7.]] Practically {{Gorn}}.

* ElegantGothicLolita - Shinju. Asuka also gets touched with this; see the BeehiveHairdo entry.

* FirstEpisodeResurrection - See CloningBlues above. As a result, Shinju ends up being more [[BadassLolita badass]], assertive, and [[{{Newsreel}} popular]] than [[OCStandIn Shinji ever was]].

* LossOfIdentity - Shinju is unrecognizable as Shinji after a couple of chapters [[spoiler:and is picking up bits of Rei.]]

* RobotGirl - Kiko, though more of an OrganicTechnology variant. Like the rest of the Eva "robots".
