In the same episode, Zim covers himself completely with paste, white and sticky paste.
** The ''first episode'' has a lot of date rape implications. Having just met Zim, Dib decides the most appropriate course of action is to handcuff him. With handcuffs that, in his words, render aliens "completely helpless". Handcuffs that he was carrying with him for the slight possibility that he might encounter an alien. Sleep cuffs, to be exact.
** Zim consistently walks in [[ANaziByAnyOtherName goose step]]. Combined with his love of world-conquering and the Irken tendency to [[FantasticRacism slaughter or enslave most other alien races]], it's surprising Nick was okay with it, considering how often they asked to change other things in the show.

*** "Bridle Gossip" also features the entire town discriminating against Zecora, a zebra who speaks with a foreign accent and has a black (and white) coat.
** In the episode "Lesson Zero", Big Macintosh is holding onto a doll that Twilight enchanted so that anypony that looked at it would desperately want it. First, Big Macintosh got a hold of it, and suddenly everypony from town starts chasing after him for it. They all end up crowding him and piling on top of him for it. Now, if the doll weren't there...
*** How the doll got that way isn't much better: a disheveled, clearly-unstable Twilight Sparkle approached a group of fillies who are close friends playing in the park, offering them a doll, even "enchanting" it when they didn't go for it at first.
*** Later in the episode we see that, once the spell is reversed, everypony stops caring about the doll except Big Macintosh who picks it up and gleefully runs away with it, seeming like a metaphor of the show's PeripheryDemographic.

** Similarly, "Read It and Weep" has Rainbow Dash initially dismissive of the JustForFun/DaringDo books, reading one out of curiosity, becoming completely obsessed, embarrassed by her obsession and going to absurd lengths to try and hide it from anyone who might tease her. It's basically one huge reference to the [[FanCommunityNicknames "bronies"]], and subcultures in general.

** "Phineas And Ferb Get Busted" is a somewhat disturbing homage to prison films and the rehabilitation/re-programming in ''Film/AClockworkOrange''.

** In the ''Film/DirtyDancing'' segment of "Love Story Guy", Joe's original dance partner Dancy has to pull out of the talent show to get jaw surgery for her TMJ. The situation is treated a lot like her getting an abortion. A coat hanger is even involved.

** By contrast, Emperor Belos' condition that requires the consumption of palismen reads a lot closer to a drug addiction, complete with him suffering violent and painful outbursts as a stand in for going into withdrawl. [[spoiler:The comparison gets taken even further when it's revealed that consuming palismen is what caused his condition in the first place.]]

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}'':
** In S7's "[[Recap/ArthurS7E10April9th April 9th]]", a response to [[UsefulNotes/TheWarOnTerror September 11th]], the characters react to a fire that damages the school. Arthur in particular becomes very worried about his father, who was in the school during the fire. Mr. Read tells him it's ''his'' job to worry about Arthur, not the other way around.
** In S9's "Arthur Makes Waves", Arthur and D.W. go to the [=MacDonald=] house during a heat wave to cool off in the pool in their yard, where D.W.'s classmate and ImpliedLoveInterest James shows up ''shirtless''[[note]]He's shirtless because he had been swimming in the pool himself[[/note]], nervously asking D.W. if she needs him to kiss her [[spoiler:[[Recap/ArthurS8E9FleaToBeYouAndMeKissAndTell again]]]], to which D.W. responds "Uh-uh" (meaning "No") after a brief pause. The scene is reminiscent of two lovers being nervous about sexual intercourse.
** "[[Recap/ArthurS13E9ParadiseLostThePrideOfLakewood The Pride of Lakewood]]", a toned-down version of ''Film/{{The Wave|1981}}''... and we all know [[GodwinsLaw what that was about...]]
** The Big Boss Bars in "To Eat or Not to Eat" are highly addictive, which could cause some viewers to think of drug addiction.
*** Binky essentially acts as a drug dealer in the episode, buying out the Sugar Bowl's supply and selling them to students in withdrawal at inflated prices.
** "Prunella the Packrat" is reminiscent of ''Series/HoardingBuriedAlive'' or ''Series/{{Hoarders}}'', but for kids. Similarities include Prunella saving things for odd or weak reasons, not being able to let go, accumulating more stuff, and being shocked that she actually has closet space.
** "[[Recap/ArthurS17E5AllThumbsKidonia All Thumbs]]", in which Arthur walks in on Buster sucking his thumb, treats the resulting embarrassment between the two as if Buster was [[CaughtWithYourPantsDown caught with his pants down]].
** "Whip. Mix. Blend." has Rattles' attempt to bond with his soon-to-be step-siblings, Angie and Ansel, come off like a rough first date.

** Completely parodied in "The Ring" with the Music/TheJonasBrothers doing obvious sexual things such as spraying their white hot foam on the faces of young girls. ([[AluminumChristmasTrees Which they actually]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik2EppSLlew did]].)

These are extremely spoiler heavy elements and should have spoilers on them.

** Eda's curse in is often used as a stand in for living with an incurable yet treatable disease. Several of the plotlines used include an unscrupulous shopkeeper price gouging her for the elixir that she needs to keep it under control, her mother getting tricked by scammers in her search for a non-existent cure, or the reveal that her ex broke up with her because she kept being secretive about her condition.
-->'''Eda:''' No one likes having a curse, but if you take the right steps, it's manageable.
** In "Thanks to Them", Luz's depression over her role in helping Belos' plans causes her to believe she's a failure who's hurt everyone she loves. In class, her rant about a character in a story is [[PsychologicalProjection very clearly really her expressing her anger at herself]] and ends with Luz stating the "hero" should never have been born. This comes off almost like self-loathing to the point of '''suicidal intentions''', which isn't helped later by the scene of her making a video diary, acknowledging her own mistakes and that she is simply planning to stay in the human realm, which reads distressingly like someone leaving a suicide note. While it's never confirmed if she actually is that depressed, given the situation, this is still enough of a red flag about Luz's mental state to warn Camila that she needs to intervene ''immediately''.
