* FantasyCounterpartCulture: Interestingly, despite some of the kingdoms sounding like existent US states (Teksas, for instance), because [[spoiler:the book takes place 400 years after the apocalypse]] they resemble the state InNameOnly. But there is ''one'' exception - Ameraka, which from what we see is both an {{Eagleland}} and the descendant of New York City.
* FantasyGunControl: Downplayed. Guns exist, but are hard to get for reasons ranging from "the gods used guns in the War in Heaven" to the more reasonable "they're just really expensive to make." Ergo, guns made by mortals are newer, but are only prototypes and owned exclusively by the rich. Guns made by gods are in way worse condition, but pack more firepower.
* ForcedIntoTheirSundayBest: Amelja complains about her vaguely nunlike summit dress.

''Heavenly Bodies'' is a NaNoWriMo novel by troper @/{{APieceofToast}}, set in the land of Yuza, with a road trip plot and a high focus on FamilyOfChoice as its chapters [[SwitchingPOV switch between the third-person narration]] of its four oddball heroes. [[XMeetsY Kind of like]] ''Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire'', if A Song of Ice and Fire eloped with ''Film/MadMaxFuryRoad''.

Yuza is a deeply Christian and troubled land. They blame most of the troubles on the gods [[WhatIfGodWasOneOfUs who keep falling out of the sky]] and onto the country and not being particularly helpful.

The kingdom of Ahkosa just conquered a large chunk of its dying neighbor, Teksas, and is trying to build a border wall in spite of its pathetic economy. In the middle of this conflict are:

* [[WrenchWench Kite]], a [[OddJobGods fallen goddess]] of metalworking who lives in Ahkosa, a kingdom with a strict god deportation policy, via citizenship fraud.
