** The ''Film/HouseOnHauntedHill1959'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpBnj-l3xTs review]] opens with a botched take of the "It's Cinemassacre's Mooooooooonster Madness!" intro where James loses it during the long O, which isn't used in any other video.

* GratuitousRape: James criticized both ''Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers'' (the producer's cut), and ''Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed'' for including these in it. His reasoning is as follows:
** ''Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers'' involves Michael forcibly raping his niece and impregnating her. Not only [[ThisIsWrongOnSoManyLevels does it seem so wrong on so many levels]], but it's entirely unnecessary. Michael is out to kill his remaining family. Now he's reproducing to make more family to kill? This is one of the main reasons why James blasted the producer's cut, despite it being the popular choice over the theatrical cut. He considers the latter to be more entertaining, whereas the former is just too messed up to justify its existence.
** ''Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed'' was a case of ExecutiveMeddling. Frankenstein, played by Peter Cushing, decided to rape the beautiful inn keeper spontaneously. This had no place in the film at all other than make Frankenstein out to be a more horrible human being, which this and previous films did a great job of already. The meddling part came from the producers wanting the rape scene added in [[SexSells just for sex appeal]], despite protests from Peter Cushing and Terrance Fisher, and the scene being nowhere at all in the original script. James says it best:
---> "It's not sexy, it's ''disturbing!''"

* OverlyNarrowSuperlative: When reviewing an old [=VHS=] copy of ''Assignment Terror'' for Monster Madness, James anticlimactically concludes that it's the worst commercially manufactured [=VHS=] tape to ever feature Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolf Man and the Mummy.
** His satirical "Top 10 Worst Top 10s" list is all this, getting excited about some of the most mundane things in cinema, like top 10 foreground bushes, top 10 dogs in the background, top 10 times where "a person's hat falls off and you can see inside the hat".

* TitleScream: Comes in many variations in ''Cinemassacre's Monster Madness'', starting with Rolfe simply stating the name in the first iteration of the show, and having a much hammier variant in later years with "It's Cinemassacre's ''Mmmonster Maaaaadneeesss!''". The ''Camp Cult'' edition of the show even features fan versions of it.

Similar to ''Monster Madness 8'' in that it was another random, non-chronological assortment of movies, but it came with its own changes from previous marathons. Whereas the reviews in most of the previous years had only been viewable on Cinemassacre.com, this time around the videos were made available on [=YouTube=] as well, appearing on the same day as their Cinemassacre releases. The reviews were divided into three distinct formats:
* Some of the reviews were of public domain films, which aired on both websites.
* For the reviews that weren't of public domain films, the [=YouTube=] release would instead feature a "Monster Madness Rerun", a video from a previous year that was formerly exclusive to Cinemassacre. Most of the Reruns were either edited down from their original versions to have their movie footage removed, or else it was a review of an older monster movie with no content ID issues.
* Lastly, this year had unscripted discussion videos. Rather than the usual scripted reviews with James' commentary over clips of the movie, these episodes had James and Mike Matei on-camera with only a few stills of the movie, making it available for both websites. A few of them weren't focused on a single film review, but rather a general topic. These discussion episodes are marked with **

Stated by James to be the final marathon to have a full 31 reviews (although later years would eventually bring it back), since he'd gotten burnt out from the sheer workload of doing a new review for every day of the month. The reviews were all once again scripted, but with stills instead of movie clips like in previous years, making them [=YouTube=]-friendly. This year was also divided into several sub-themes depending on the day of the week:
* ''Mondern Mondays'' focused on recent horror movies.
* ''Top Ten Tuesdays'' showcased James' recommendations for the best horror movies by era.
* ''WTF Wednesdays'' were dedicated to weird movies.
* ''Blood-thirsty Thursdays'' were movies about vampires.
* ''Franken-Fridays'' were movies about Frankenstein.
* ''Weekend Whatevers'' had no specific focus.

A film buff born in UsefulNotes/Philadelphia and raised in UsefulNotes/NewJersey with directing aspirations, James Duncan Rolfe (born July 10, 1980) remained mostly under the radar until 2006, when he posted a couple of joke reviews he made for his friends a couple years earlier on Website/YouTube, under the name "The Angry Nintendo Nerd". A few years of booming popularity later, he eventually evolved into ''WebVideo/TheAngryVideoGameNerd''.

* OlderThanHeLooks: He still looks to be in his twenties when he's actually ''40''. It really shows in the ''Franchise/MegaMan'' episode of AVGN, when the Nerd goes back in time and meets his earlier incarnations (which are first shown through StockFootage, then played by himself). He hardly looked different than his decade-earlier videos, save for the haircut.

Stated by James to be the final marathon to have a full 31 reviews, since he'd gotten burnt out from the sheer workload of doing a new review for every day of the month. The reviews were all once again scripted, but with stills instead of movie clips like in previous years, making them [=YouTube=]-friendly. This year was also divided into several sub-themes depending on the day of the week:

With work on TheMovie necessitating a reduction in the frequency of Nerd episodes, Rolfe decided to compensate by launching ''WebVideo/JamesAndMikeMondays'' in December 2012. This is a weekly series in a LetsPlay format, where Rolfe and Creator/MikeMatei play games that in most cases might not be featured in a Nerd review -- whether it's a classic, an obscure game, a romhack, or the occasional game that's already been reviewed. In 2018, Rolfe launched a new series, ''WebVideo/CinemassacreVideo'' where James and friends discuss different films, themed around a {{Retraux}} VHS rental shop Blockbuster-pastiche, comparable to WebVideo/RedLetterMedia's ''WebVideo/HalfInTheBag'' series.
