* MysteriousPast: As the story unravels, the reasons why Amane died that night start to strongly shift towards abnormalities surrounding her, [[spoiler: like how she was adopted and no one knew her true parents at all.]] Even when some of the questions are answered however, [[spoiler: the story doesn't explain how Amane came to possess the third Kyuuki Cocoon, or why it was inside of her, turning her into a WildCard outside of Shirou's machinations.]]

* Irony: For all of the plot focus on her having told Riku to not lie and the consequences that result of it, [[spoiler: Amane not only makes a masterclass web of lies to paint herself as a merciless villain that needs to be stopped, but unwittingly inspires Riku to take a TechnicalPacifist approach to the same idea when he wants to save Rena's memories. In the end, both of them sold the world the biggest sweet little lies for good intentions.]]

* DespairEventHorizon: [[spoiler: An accidental awakening of the Cocoon dormant in her body sent her, Touga's older brother, and Rena's master to the Embryo, where the corruption inside of it consumed the latter two. Not only did the brother, the only person that knew the secret about the Cocoon inside of her, give her a DeathGlare of absolute hatred as he was consumed, but the sheer emotional stress and information overload caused the Cocoon to obliterate the Kazama Hospital - and forced Amane into a Coffin Princess rebirth, "killing" her for reasons out of her control. Even worse, as her info was stored in the Embryo waiting to re-emerge once Neene grew up for her to replace, she realized the AwfulTruth about the Kanshu and the spreading corruption, and decided all of humanity must "[[AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence die]]" to be stored in the Embryo than to be driven extinct by the inevitable EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt - driving her into becoming a ruthlessly pragmatic AntiVillain despite all the FauxAffablyEvil airs she puts on.]]

* ManipulativeBitch: [[spoiler:She manipulated the events of the story so as to get Riku to raise her Kyuuki, Neene, and be able to wake up the Embryo that will wipe humanity.]]

[[spoiler: Shirou]] was really the one responsible for this, but there are signs that some do have this capacity, such as [[spoiler: the Black Kanshu that was Rena's father.]]

* WasOnceAMan: Kanshu are humans transformed into horrific beasts, and if that wasn't bad enough, it's the inevitable fate of Jinki users if they ever lose their orb. Not a single person has ever managed to be turned back to normal from one - [[spoiler: until Riku is kept sane and stable by Nenee, and reverts via Youhei's Jinki.]]

* NotSoDifferent: From [[spoiler: Shirou Karasawa.]]

* PapaWolf: Don't mess with Neene! He not only sees her as his daughter, but he treats her as such, and he's '''extremely''' protective of her. Whatever flaws he may have, he's the one only one in the entire story to treat a [[spoiler: coffin princess]] properly, like a human being, and actually care for her openly.

* WalkingSpoiler: Most of the series' mystery revolves around the mysterious circumstances of her death and connection to Neene, [[spoiler: so the fact that she becomes the BigBad in the second half of the series is meant to really catch the reader off-guard.]]

* Hypocrite: [[spoiler: She told Riku to not lie, especially about hiding his emotions from others so that his parents wouldn't worry about him. She was just projecting her regrets, however, as she lied constantly to hide her own problems and paid for it in the end. She fully acknowledges this once she finally spills everything out to Riku.]]

* TheReveal: [[spoiler: Kanshu are the result of spores from the Embyro, an alien database ship of sorts that stores the memories of living people within it and which the Coffin Princesses protect. When the Embryo first arrived at Earth, the spores spread all over - meaning all of humanity are secretly dormant Kanshu, and the "virus" is just the trigger awakening; the reason why Lost Rebound and memory loss occurs is because the latent dormancy in people [[LaserGuidedAmnesia "shut out" witnessing such events from their minds]], as beings of memory ultimately can evade it.]] Learning this caused [[spoiler: Amane]] to cross the DespairEventHorizon, and drives both Riku and Rena into a HeroicBSOD.

Then, when she finally remembers the existence of her sister, Sayoko, and goes to confront Ende, hoping that she may recognize her... But Ende doesn't and she categorizes Sawako as her enemy and tries to kill her.]]

She became a manipulative woman, willing to drive Riku in a rage if it meant bringing an end to the Infection. [[spoiler: She disappeared after Ende's attack and was hospitalized in a coma until fragments of Shirou returned her stolen memories.]]

** She is not a bad person at heart, but she's determined not to make the same mistake as before to prevent more people dying like when she [[spoiler:released Shirou.]]
