When Hiroki catches him, Ferron lets him talk and then talks back to him...which is all part of Ferron's [[BatmanGambit]] to keep Hiroki either monologuing or listening to Ferron until Delora, the one person the Hyuga did not expect to turn on him, can get close enough to him. Hiroki tries to salvage the situation by appealing to Delora from one parent to another, but a poor choice of words, and Delora's changed stance, backfires on him and finally turns the tide on the battle between him and the fellowship just as Ferron hoped would happen.
