* FirstLove: He was this to Padmé; they met while they were both members of the Legislative Youth Programme when Padme was twelve and he was a few years older. The relationship ended when Palo left to become an artist while Padmé went into politics.

* InTheHood: Many of their costumes include bulky hoods that obscure their faces, making it harder for onlookers to tell when the Queen was switched places with one of them.

* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Her skin is [[PinkIsFeminine very pink]] in comparison to other Gungans.

* UnfortunateNames: In Brazilian Portuguese, "panaca" is a slang for "douchebag". The Brazilian dub changed his name to Panassi as a result (although from the point of view of the Partisans, this name would be fitting...).

* MetaphoricallyTrue: A whole lot of them think that Anakin Skywalker was killed during Order 66 by ''Vader'' and that their Queen was possibly killed in the crossfire trying to protect Anakin. Technically speaking, Vader ''did'' have a hand in Padm&eacute’s eventual death though he didn’t mean to.

* AdaptationalIntelligence: Downplayed. In ''Legends'', the Gungans were considered a primitive species until the Battle of Naboo despite their own amazing technological achievements. In canon, however, Gungans could be seen traveling among the stars nearly two-hundred years before the Battle of Naboo, with one member, Wet Bub, serving as a slicer for the Nihil and another being a hyperspace physics professor at the Carida Academy.

* WealthyPhilanthropist: Ruwee, at the least, is indicated to be this, taking part in refugee relief movements. He raised Padmé to be altruistic and charitable as well, including taking her with him on a relief mission when she was seven. It certainly stuck, with Padmé going on to pursue a career in politics in order to help people on a ''[[UpToEleven galactic]]'' scale.

''[[Literature/StarWarsTarkin Tarkin]]'' states that four years before ''Film/ThePhantom Menace'', Naboo is ruled by a corrupt king, implied to be King Veruna. This is backed up by the ''Star Wars Character Encyclopedia'', which states Queen Amidala's predecessor was King Veruna. But the ''Character Encyclopedia'' also states Veruna reigned for 13 years, whereas ''[[Literature/StarWarsQueensShadow Queen's Shadow]]'' states monarchs can only reign for four years maximum. ''[[Literature/StarWarsQueensPeril Queen's Peril]]'' then makes things even messier by stating that Amidala's predecessor ''wasn't'' Veruna but Queen Sanandrassa, whose predecessor was Queen Reillata. Going by this timeline, either Sanandrassa or Reillata would've been queen four years before the ''The Phantom Menace'', which directly contradicts ''Tarkin''.
