* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: He's one to Nyarlathotep from ''Persona 2'', from many aspects. While Nyarlathotep works just about fine everywhere he is in but chooses to volunarily shapeshift to deceive, Hi-no Kagutsuchi has to shapeshift to interfere directly, since he's pretty much a formless incarnation. While Nyarlathotep's endgame basically involves having humanity destroy themselves over bizzare apocalyptic prophecies granted through [[ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve collective make-believe]], Hi-no Kagutsuchi collects the despair from the Persona users, then the Persona shards to transform himself and himself alone into an incarnation of absolute world destruction. While Nyarlathotep was able to influence the minds of many at once, Hi-no Kagutsuchi can only affect one or two people at a time. Finally, Nyarlathotep is shown to be highly intelligent and requires some cheating from Philemon's side to actually best while Hi-no Kagutsuchi tends to waste perfect chances or make miscalculations.
