Only Midoriya acknowledges Bakugou's abilities, and that's because they've known each other all their lives.

* AttentionWhore: As a child, Bakugou was used to being the center of attention and the sole recipient of praise until Izuku got his own powers. After this, Bakugou became jealous of Izuku's newfound popularity, which made their relationship sour.

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Bakugou demands that Izuku train for the U.A. Entrance Exam because someone who has stubbornly refused to prepare for ten years isn't going to get in. Izuku ends up taking that advice [[spoiler:and walks away with the [[GoneHorriblyRight highest score in the history of the exam.]]]]

** Saying and/or implying Izuku is better than him. As far as Bakugou is concerned, that isn't confirmed since they haven't "fought" since they were kids, and it's what drives his obsession with beating Izuku in a "rematch".

* BloodKnight: He relishes the thought of getting to kick Izuku's ass and humiliate him once Hero Training rolls around. [[spoiler:He's ecstatic when he learns that Izuku ''and'' Todoroki are on the other team, giving him the chance to beat both of them at once.]]
* BloodyHorror: Bakugou has scars all over his chest that Izuku compares to ''All Might's'' injuries and needed titanium screws to hold the pieces of his arm together. * BullyingADragon: Even though he's fully aware of Izuku's incredible strength and ''was hospitalized by him as a kid'', he still goes out of his way to deride Izuku and calls him "Deku" regardless since he thinks that Izuku is looking down on him by not becoming a Hero. Everyone in class lampshades the stupidity of this.

* ButtMonkey: No one takes Bakugou extremely aggressive attitude seriously due to constantly living in Izuku's shadow. He's AlwaysSecondBest, is prone to ComicalOverreacting, and always seems to have more bark than bite. No one will let him forget how he [[spoiler:ended up in 10th place on the entrance exam]] and he's completely ignored in favor of Izuku no matter how hard he tries. Then he's humiliated in the middle of class when Izuku brings up Bakugou's cat, Dexter.

* CatchphraseInsult: He's constantly calling Izuku "Deku", despite the [[BullyingADragon clear power disparity between them]]. This ends up getting him off to a bad start with Izuku's new friends.

* ChildhoodFriend: He's known Izuku for as long as he can remember. While he tends to treat Izuku as a target to be beaten, Izuku still considers Bakugou his best friend.

* ComplainingAboutRescuesTheyDontLike: When Izuku and Bakugou were walking across a log over a river as kids, the latter slipped on a piece of bark and was sent tumbling down. Izuku [[DivingSave immediately kicked off the log]] and caught him before he hit the ground. [[DontYouDarePityMe Bakugou is not happy about this and insists that he didn't need Deku's help]], giving him an [[UngratefulBastard explosion to the face as thanks.]] [[InnocentlyInsensitive This baffles Izuku, who was just trying to help.]]

* TheFriendNobodyLikes: His abrasive attitude quickly rubs everyone the wrong way on his first day at U.A. Unlike middle school, he simply can't command the same respect he once did, especially since he's constantly being compared to Izuku. By the end of the day, he's completely alone, as Izuku runs off to join his new friends to avoid making things worse.
* GeniusBruiser: His grades are excellent, he has a powerful Quirk, and he's one of the most athletic guys in class despite his childhood injuries. It's telling when he ends up in second place behind Izuku on the Quirk Apprehension Test ahead of both of the recommended students and the RealityWarper.

* HarmfulToMinors: His bloody and battered body traumatized Izuku so badly that he swore to never become a Hero out of fear of a repeat incident. That trauma still lingers to this day even after getting into U.A.

He gets increasingly more agitated throughout the day as people continue to ignore him in favor of Izuku, who seems to effortlessly one-up him in every regard without meaning to.

* IntrovertedCatPerson: Izuku lets slip that Bakugou has a blue cat named Dexter and that they played with him a lot when they were kids. But all of his "playtime" with Izuku consists of trying [[CatsAreMean to bite, scratch and throw toys]] at the young Kryptonian. Bakugou is embarrassed to admit Dexter's existence, but he gets noticeably calmer and nicer while talking about the cat. After the Heroes vs. Villains exercise, one of his first instincts is to relax by going home to take care of Dexter.
* {{Irony}}: His injuries had everyone from doctors to his own parents urge him to [[spoiler:give up on becoming a Hero, much like he had told Izuku in canon for being Quirkless. Like Izuku, he worked his body hard in order to compensate for his disability and became a formidable opponent anyways.]]

** As abrasive as he is, Bakugou knows for a fact that Izuku ''wants'' to be a Hero deep down and is constantly trying to get him to act on this desire. Bakugou's problem is that his delivery ''sucks.''

** When Bakugou first hears that Izuku has started applying to U.A., he immediately confronts him and demands to know if it was some kind of stupid joke or a prank. When Izuku says that he's serious about it, Bakugou just turns around and growls at him to prepare for the exam, since there's no way someone who spent ten years doing nothing to prepare for it will pass. This, along with K.E.L.E.X.'s prodding, is what gets Izuku to postpone his search for other Kryptonians and focus on what he has to do to get into U.A.

* MaliciousMisnaming: "Deku" is a derisive nickname Bakugou came up with through a [[AlternateCharacterReading deliberate misreading of the characters]] in Izuku's name. It means "puppet" or "weakling", as in a wooden puppet who will never be able to accomplish anything on their own, reflecting Izuku's indecision and reluctance to become a Hero despite having every possible tool he could probably need to do so.

* NearDeathExperience: Bakugou was nearly killed when Izuku accidentally threw him through a wall as a child. He came so close to death that [[spoiler:[[ComicBook/TheSandman Death of the Endless]] decided to visit him for a chat.]]

* OnlyFriend: To Izuku, and vice versa. All the peers in Bakugou's life either followed him around and fed into his ego out of admiration for his impressive quirk or derided and mocked him for his one-sided rivalry with Izuku. Only Izuku cared about him as a ''person'', despite years of hostility and Bakugou's own obsession with beating him into the ground. In return, Bakugou is one of the few to see Izuku beyond his powers and encourage him to follow his dreams (though, with questionable delivery).
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Bakugou has been demanding a rematch from Izuku for years and explicitly wants him at U.A. so he can beat the crap out of him without getting in trouble. This goes so far that Santa's present for him is a punching bag with Izuku's face on it.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Bakugou is extremely talented, but constantly overshadowed by how powerful his Kryptonian ChildhoodFriend is. He's livid when he discovers that everyone is interested in Izuku and not him. Aizawa notes that all of Bakugou's scores on the Quirk Apprehension Test are excellent, but they simply can't hold a candle to Izuku's ridiculous scores.

* PoorCommunicationKills: His animosity towards Izuku is fueled by their inability to hold a proper conversation with each other. When they finally face off in the Heroes vs. Villains exercise, both of the accuse each other of mocking them, Izuku by clearly holding back in an effort to avoid hurting him, and Bakugou by broadcasting a reminder of Izuku's worst mistake by going shirtless.

** When he was 4, Bakugou was thrown out of a park and through a brick wall when Izuku lost control of his strength. It's PlayedForHorror, as Bakugou nearly dies and suffers extensive, debilitating scars that will last forever.
** During the Heroes vs. Villains exercise, he tries to pin Izuku to the ground with a judo maneuver, only for Izuku to stomp the ground hard enough to send Bakugou into another wall.
* PyrrhicVictory: At the end of the Heroes vs. Villains exercise, he wins. [[spoiler:But only after both Izuku and Todoroki refuse to go all-out against him, the former out of concern and the latter of pride, making Bakugou's victory feel hollow.]]

The most polite way he could think of addressing with an oddly cheery Izuku at the time was, "The fuck’s with that look on your face, Deku?"

* SoreLoser: He's constantly pissed at the idea that Izuku could beat him and demands him to apply to U.A. so they can have a proper rematch. * WorthyOpponent: Considers Izuku this, seeing as he regularly tries to get Izuku to go into Heroics and live up to the potential Bakugou sees in him so they can settle their score. But... this being Bakugou, his approach leaves a lot to be desired.
* {{Wrath}}: Bakugou defaults to aggression whenever possible, even when he's facing people more powerful than him or placed in fights he can't win. After Izuku shrugs off one of his explosions point blank and punches him in the face hard enough to draw blood, Bakugou continues to relentlessly attack in hopes of winning. His constant swearing, screaming and violence make him a volatile beast despite his immense talents.
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: He makes extensive usage of pro-wrestling and judo techniques in his attempts to pin Izuku to the floor, using a rolling savate to close the distance and an ashi-hishigi to pile additional attacks into Izuku's leg.

The World's Greatest Hero and Izuku's lifelong idol. His real name is Toshinori Yagi, who works at his own office as a secretary in order to maintain his SecretIdentity. Five years ago, he battled a tremendously powerful Villain in a titanic clash that left both of them crippled, limiting his Hero activity to three hours a day while leaving his body a withered mess. After learning about Izuku's identity and seeing the good he can do, All Might resolves to help Izuku become a Hero.

** He also earned the highest score in the history of the U.A. Entrance Exam with 165 points, a fact that is proudly mentioned at the small museum dedicated to him in his home base at Might Tower. [[spoiler:He's simultaneously proud and miffed that Izuku managed to top it by 10 points.]]

* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: All Might is still a mentor and father-like figure to Izuku, but they don't hang out with each other nearly as much they do in canon because Izuku isn't One For All's inheritor.

* TheAllegedCar: All Might tries to call his car a "real beaut", but it's falling apart in many of the wrong places. For instance, the side-view mirrors routinely pop off. All Might also struggles to get the doors to shut and lock themselves, having to do so five times while also breaking up the dramatic tension he tried to build while trying to get Izuku away from thinking about the anti-alien tourist trap they've started searching through. Finally, he's forced to admit that "Batmobile it was not".

* AllLovingHero: All Might is totally fine with Izuku even after deducing the boy's alien heritage. He then tells Izuku that it's not his status as an alien that's keeping him from becoming a Hero, but his own biases and fears.
* AndHereHeComesNow: A week before the U.A. Entrance Exam, Izuku is wound up over the fact that Lexi knows his identity. He's not sure if a even pep talk from All Might would be able to clear his thoughts. As if to test this theory, All Might comes running up the road to see him.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: After their last conversation ended on a sour note over whether or not Izuku ''should'' become a Hero, All Might asks the one question he should have asked when they spoke on that rooftop, finally breaking Izuku's loop of self-loathing and getting him to seriously consider becoming a Hero again.

* BadassTeacher: As per canon, All Might has taken up a teaching job at U.A. by the time Izuku begins attending.

** He does this twice in a single day in the opening chapters, both times to save Izuku from the Sludge Villain.

* BrokenAce: He has continued to act as a Hero despite the crippling injuries he sustained five years ago and the withered state of his body. Izuku is one of the only people who is aware of this because All Might is insistent on maintaining his image as the Symbol of Peace in order to keep society from succumbing to despair in his absence.

* BrutalHonesty: All Might says that he knows Izuku didn't come to him for honest advice, only hoping to hear what he wanted to hear. Izuku doesn't even try to deny it and the realization brings him to tears. After the Sludge Villain is finally subdued, All Might shows up to apologize for his bluntness and tells Izuku [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre what he]] ''[[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre needs]]'' [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre to hear.]] The narration even namedrops the trope.

* TheChooserOfTheOne: As the curent holder of One For All, All Might is able to choose the next torch bearer of this Quirk and wants to find one before he succumbs to his injury. He's bummed out when Izuku refuses despite meeting all the criterion for a worthy successor.

* DareToBeBadass: When Izuku finally reaffirms his desire to become a Hero again, All Might tells him to go and not let anyone stop him from achieving his dream.

* {{Foil}}: All Might is one for K.E.L.E.X. All Might is responsible for shaping Izuku's beliefs about what makes a Hero on Earth. The two of them met almost completely by chance, with All Might gladly taking up the role of a guiding influence for Izuku of his own volition and encouraging the young Kryptonian to do what he ''wants'' to do rather than worrying about what he ''should'' do. But due to his busy work as a Hero, he can't always be around to help Izuku. K.E.L.E.X. is Izuku's last remaining link to Krypton, having been uploaded into Izuku's spaceship specifically to educate, accompany, and assist him with all sorts of tasks. He bluntly recommends courses of action based on logic, sometimes to Izuku's discomfort, and discourages Izuku from doing things that he thinks are a waste of time, like searching for other surviving Kryptonians. He is also able to accompany him at all times due to uploading himself into Izuku's phone, providing on-the-spot analysis, probability calculations, and other information that humans would find difficult to provide.

* GentleGiant: He's huge, ripped, and respected the world over while in his Hero form. It doesn't stop him from wanting to hug you like a teddy bear if you really need it. When he sees Izuku crying for the first time, All Might's first instinct is to walk over and start wiping away the tears one by one.

* GratuitousEnglish: Indulges in this from time to time, usually when he's surprised, yelling "GREAT CEASAR'S GHOST!" while learning about Izuku's various types of Super-Vision and "OH MY GOODNESS!" while being besieged by robots.

* HeroicBuild: He's, in his and Izuku's own words, "the pinnacle of muscular heroism". Even after losing weight, he's still 500 pounds of rock solid muscle while in his Hero form.

* LegacyCharacter: He inherited his powers from Nana Shimura, the previous wielder of One For All, who in turn was the seventh to inherit it from the six people before her. He wanted to make Izuku the ninth bearer, but the boy refused because he felt it would be wasted on him.

* ManlyTears: Shares these with Izuku after he learns everything about the young Kryptonian's past and the nature of his arrival on Earth.

* TheMentor: Although Izuku isn't his successor this time around, All Might is still Izuku's primary source of inspiration and guidance for the foreseeable future. He uses his connections to help Izuku find his spaceship and promises to support his heroic aspirations any way he can.
* MomentOfWeakness: Having reached his limit shortly after rescuing Izuku from the Sludge Villain, he is totally absent after the Sludge Villain escapes because he believes that he can't intervene. But watching Izuku rush to save Bakugou despite his fear that he'll hurt him again inspires All Might to push his limits and leap back into the fray to defeat the Sludge Villain once again. He then sneaks away from the paparazzi to chase down Izuku and offer an apology for his previous statements before giving Izuku the DareToBeBadass he needed to hear his entire life. He also wanted to name Izuku his successor, but Izuku refused due to his desire to master the ComboPlatterPowers he already has and his belief that One For All's power would just be redundant given that he already has SuperStrength.

* NiceGuy: It's All Might, so this is to be expected. When he first learns that Izuku is an alien, he reveals he doesn't believe in the [[FantasticRacism anti-alien hysteria]] that most of the world does. In fact, he shows remorse over the fact so many alien heroes were killed, driven off-world, or forced into hiding. And he doesn't know what makes him more sick, that people make a business out of xenophobia, or that they're allowed to do so without repercussions.

* PapaWolf: He's protective of children under his care, especially his students. [[spoiler:When he sees that the Noumu has beaten Izuku to a bloody pulp, All Might loses it and brutally kills the Noumu in retaliation.]]
* TheParagon: The combination of his incredible strength, boundless kindness, and unending optimism has inspired generations of Heroes over the course of his storied career, Izuku and Bakugou among them.

* RenownedSelectiveMentor: All Might considers One For All to be a sacred torch and won't pass it down to just anyone. He only considers those he feels to have all of the qualities he considers to be necessary to be a great Hero, like a burning desire to do good and incredible kindness. Of course, only a handful of people are in the know about it and he's dismayed when Izuku turns down his offer to become his successor.
* SecretIdentity: Two-fold. While acting in public as All Might, he uses the pseudonym Hikaru Hinata. He works as his own secretary under his real name, Toshinori Yagi, to keep the staff at Might Tower from making the connection between them. Izuku lampshades this.

* SoProudOfYou: He's simultaneously proud and miffed that Izuku [[spoiler:beat his long-held record at the U.A. Entrance Exam.]]

* SuccessionCrisis: All Might is desperate to find someone to inherit One For All because he knows that he doesn't have much time left. He's more than a bit disappointed when Izuku turns down his offer to become its inheritor, but assures him that he'll find another person to take on the sacred torch while downplaying the severity of his injuries.

* SuperStrength: One For All gives its bearer access to the compiled physical strength of every one of its previous wielders in addition to the user's own, giving All Might incredible strength that can split the clouds and change the weather. Even a friendly slap on the back manages to nearly knock Izuku over despite his own impressive feats of strength.

* ThisIsUnforgivable: All Might declares this after [[spoiler:the Ultra-Humanite seemingly executes Izuku by blasting him off Mt. Fuji and throwing a bomb to make sure he's dead.]]

* ThouShaltNotKill: Subverted. All Might tells Izuku that sometimes a Hero needs to be willing to grievously harm or even kill a Villain if it means saving lives while trying to help Izuku get over his fear of hurting others. That said, he also mentions that this is a last resort, only going this far against someone as bad as [[spoiler:All For One.]] He says this to try and make Izuku feel better about his accident, but it only ends up making him feel worse.

** All Might gives this speech to Izuku after the Sludge Villain incident, finally convincing him that he can chase his dreams of becoming a Hero despite his past mistakes.
