* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Not Corlia as the Empress, but the "real" Corlia Davis, [[spoiler:the girl who created the ConstructedWorld of Lunarosse]]. All she wanted was to [[spoiler:have her friends and write stories. The forcible separation from those caused her to snap and to burn the summer school in which they used to play. She was then left in an asylum for ten years with only her brother for company, while her parents disowned her, and her friends never visited her]].

* FlorenceNightingaleEffect: Dr. Dario Naumov was Corlia's therapist and, although he does try to deny it, he ended up developping feelings for his patient when she reached adulthood. Sadly, it went to {{Yandere}} levels.

* WeUsedToBeFriends: With Yliandra, hence the reason why he was chosen to bring her the peace treaty. He used to be a part of the White Sun Order, like her. He was also her therapist in the real world. Of course, he was likely using her.

* AntiVillain[=/=]HeroAntagonist: He starts off as an antagonist, but only because Vaarn convinced him that Channing and his friends were dangerous criminals.
