* OddballDoppelganger: Metal General resembles a warped, robotic version of Meta Knight; he has a primarily navy and silver color scheme with glowing yellow eyes in shadow, and wields a sword (albeit a Beam Saber rather than a physical sword) to deliver rapid slashing attacks. Even their names are similar, with "Meta" and "Metal" being one character off, and "Knight" and "General" both being military titles. However, Metal General is not an EvilKnockoff and seemingly has no relation to Meta Knight at all; it has apparently existed in Egg Engines for ages, doing nothing but simply guarding its singular spot, in contrast to the proactive and often-mobile Meta Knight.

* WhiteAndRedAndEerieAllOver: Its Extra Mode counterparts, King Doo EX and King Doo 2.0, have a white body and red eye. Not only are they stronger than the original, the color scheme might be a reference to [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 Zero]].

* WakeUpCallBoss: It's much more challenging to defeat than the other mini-bosses in ''Return to Dream Land'', so when it first appears at the end of Nutty Noon's [[BossRush "mini-boss tower"]], it's a sign that the game is done playing around with you.

* CoconutMeetsCranium: A weaponized version of the trope, as it uses giant coconuts as its main ammo just as Whispy uses apples. It has regular coconuts, too, which drives many people to Everbay Coast in search of a taste.
* ColossusClimb: According to the June 2022 issue of ''Nintendo Dream'', Tropic Woods was [[WhatCouldHaveBeen initially conceptualized as one of these]]. There's a small remnant of this in the area leading up to the boss arena, where Kirby has to climb on roots, but that isn't part of the fight itself.

* LoneWolfBoss: While the series isn't always in the habit of clarifying which bosses are affiliated with the BigBad, Tropic Woods stands out as someone who is certainly ''not'' a part of the Beast Pack, on account of being a force of nature, not an animal. This is made clear by its absence from [[BossRush Gathering of the Beast Council]], and its figure descriptions also don't mention any relation to the Beast Pack. [[spoiler:It's implied that Fecto Forgo at least tried to put it under their control, as evidenced by its Phantom counterpart; however, Meta Knight also got a Phantom copy despite being able to resist Forgo's influence, so it's unclear whether they succeeded.]]

* {{Jerkass}}: Tropic Woods's Japanese Gotcha Capsule says that "it mercilessly attacks those who come into its territory" to [[DisproportionateRetribution stop people from trying to eat its coconuts]]. Of course, the coconuts are tasty enough that Tropic Woods faces no shortage of challengers.

* WakeUpCallBoss: It isn't too tough to beat, but it takes a significantly greater amount of strategy to fight compared to Gorimondo. Whereas you can wail on Gorimondo with little thought, Tropic Woods requires you to think carefully about your positioning, since it actively aims at you and defends itself with chain-link fences.
