Not even his own body is spared his selfishness as he callously ditches Shingo Izumi's mortally wounded form when it suits him and actually [[spoiler:abandoned his original one to die in an attempt to steal his Core Medals from the original OOO centuries before.]]

* PerpetualPoverty: His contract with Kougami has a 1:1 exchange rate for Yen and Cell Medals. There are a number of problems with this arrangement. First, Date can't cash out his Cell Medals in increments; he has to hand over 100,000,000 or he'll get nothing at all. Secondly, the Kougami Foundation needs to be given a ''net'' amount of 100,000,000 Cell Medals; that is, the gross Date hauls in with deductions applied. Next, the Birth system and its weapons require Cell Medals to be activated and need even more of them to boost and combine their powers; as the battles against the Greeds and Yummies grow more intense, Date finds himself having to ''borrow'' Cell Medals from his bosses just to stay in the fight. Lastly, defeated Yummies produce a few hundred Cell Medals ''at most'', so even if he didn't spend more Cell Medals than he earned during each encounter, he'd have to defeat thousands of fully-grown Yummies to meet his quota. As a result, he's perpetually indebted to the corporation he sought to profit from.

The main protagonist. A world-traveling vagrant with no family, dreams, or long-term career, whose recent stint as a museum guard for the Kougami Foundation ends with him taking possession of three Core Medals and the OOO Driver, allowing him to turn into Kamen Rider OOO and fulfill his subconscious impulse for helping people.

An experimental Kamen Rider suit using the expendable but common Cell Medals, as opposed to OOO and his rare Core Medals.

* AndIMustScream: Ultimately averted with Shingo -- he was conscious all along while his body was taken over by Ankh, but this has no effect on his psyche once he temporarily regained control of his body during Episodes 41-43, and once he returns to his body for good at the finale.

* BarehandedBladeBlock: Manages to do this against Putotyra's Medagabryu in Episode 34.

** PlayedForDrama in Episode 8, where he gets beaten half to death by Uva, has two core medals stolen from him, gets rocks thrown at, and having to crawl to Eiji for some cell medals.

* DeathGlare: He seems to like giving this to people. That, or it's his default expression. Notably in Episode 13, he scares a little boy just by staring at him like this.

* FauxAffablyEvil: Among his fellow Greed, he's the worst at faking a personable facade and he arrogantly dropped the act almost immediately after taking over Shingo Izumi's body because he thought he wouldn't need to play nice to control Eiji.

* ImprobableAimingSkills: He's able to throw medals with such skill that he's ''thrown one right into the OOO Driver slot''...from across the battlefield, past a swarm of Jellyfish Yummy! [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], as long-range accuracy is the Taka Medal's innate power.

* {{Jerkass}}: Ankh is thoroughly self-centered, rude, misanthropic, and he bordered on being out-and-out sociopathic early on. He couldn’t give a damn about who ends up getting affected so long as he gets what he wants. [[spoiler:Slowly but surely, he develops into a ''very'' rough JerkWithAHeartOfGold. He‘s not any less of a selfish jackass, but he does wind up doing the right thing, [[HeroicSacrifice even sacrificing himself to help Eiji in the final battle.]] And while he’ll never admit it, it’s pretty clear he does gradually grow to care about Eiji and Hina.]]

* DunnoWhatsGoingOnBut: When offered the OOO Driver, he pretty much states that he doesn't know what's going on but if it helps him save lives, he'll do it.

* DunnoWhatsGoingOnBut: While not a PunchClockHero like Satonaka, he originally doesn't come off as someone all too interested in the politics of fighting the Greeed and, instead, just does it for the money.

* NotSoDifferent: From Kazari, which is why he turns down the offer to work together. He can't trust someone who's as sneaky as he is.

* BalefulPolymorph: Is forced into fully transforming into a berserk, mindless Greeed by Dr. Maki in Episode 46. Fortunately he managed to return to his true self come next episode.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Episode 43 shows how scary Eiji can be when he is angry.

** Holding his hands out like a tiger in [=TaToBa=] and [=LaTorRatar=] forms, or really any forms with the [[WolverineClaws Tora Claws]]. Also, him saying "[[{{Kiai}} SEIIIIYAA]]!" during finishers.

* GoodIsNotDumb: Ankh gave Eiji the OOO Driver, believing he's an impressionable pawn. But come Episode 2 Eiji not only proves him wrong, but also showed a considerable level of cunning.

* ILetGwenStacyDie: Episode 2 reveals [[HiddenDepths an embittered side beneath his laid-back behavior]] -- his zeal for saving people stemmed from memories of a young girl he befriended during his travels, whom he was unable to save during a civil war.
* IdiotHair: One is briefly shown in Episode 2 prior to receiving a text from Hina and [[HiddenDepths revealing his deeper, troubled past]].

* ObfuscatingStupidity: PlayedForLaughs in Episode 3 where he threatens to "not be able to resist doing something stupid" and throw away the OOO Driver to force Ankh into releasing Hina. Subverted, as his natural personality just ''seems'' stupid despite him being extremely clever.
* ObliviousToLove: Hilariously Lampshaded in episode 18, where it takes a lot of hinting to find out the victim of the week was in love with a man, and still, [[EveryoneCanSeeIt Ankh gets it faster than him]].

* StepfordSmiler: Episode 32 reveals he's a Type B -- despite initially having grand aspirations to help others, he became embittered after [[spoiler:being unable to stop the civil war that killed a girl he knew, which was being ''funded and orchestrated'' by his politician father.]] This lead to Eiji becoming a man without any personal desire or ambition - though he puts on a smiling face around others, it later becomes clear he has no sense of self-preservation and places his worth in fulfilling the desires of the people around him. The emptiness in his heart is such that the Purple Medals, which desire only nothingness, are drawn to his complete lack of personal desire.

* WalkingTheEarth: A closer look at his spare change in Episode 1 reveals currency from other countries (including an American quarter), and in Episode 3, he can be seen in the background of a photograph taken in the middle of a desert. He also states in Episode 1 that he doesn't have a fixed address and often isn't even in Japan. [[spoiler:Turns out he used to be a traveling emissary on behalf of his father. At the end of the series he left Japan once again, and a year later, updates his friends through webcam on his whereabouts, unknowingly being accompanied by Ankh's spirit -- somewhere in the desert.]]
* YouAreNotAlone: A major part of his growth as a character is realizing this. Happens more directly in the finale after [[spoiler:Ankh performs a HeroicSacrifice to allow him to use [=TaJaDol=] against Maki, only for Eiji to find out quickly that he's literally fighting alongside Ankh's spirit. Even though he doesn't know it, Ankh never leaves him.]]

* TheBerserker: Like [[Series/KamenRiderDouble FangJoker]], [=PuToTyra=] was extremely difficult for Eiji to control. Of course, he does eventually manage to tame the form.

* BlessedWithSuck: The five purple Core Medals inside his body. Eiji has enough of the medals to use the [=PuToTyra=] Combo, by far the strongest in terms of power (in fact, strong enough to shatter Core Medals), and the medals themselves are sentient enough that they can emerge from his body on their own to be used if Eiji is ever in mortal danger. On the flip side, it will send him into a [[TheBerserker mindless rampage]] [[HeroicRROD that drains his strength more than normal combos]]. While it became possible for him to control it, it's difficult to maintain that control and the combo is less powerful when restrained. Their presence in his body also causes [[spoiler:Eiji to turn into a Greeed]].

* ComboPlatterPowers: [[IncrediblyLamePun Well, yes, quite literally]]. As OOO, he has the power to mix and match the Medals, giving him three to use at any one time. As evidenced in Episode 6, Full Combos ([=GataKiriBa=], [=LaToraTah=], [=SaGoZo=], [=TaJaDol=], [=ShaUTa=], [=PuToTyra=] and [=BuraKaWani=]) are much more powerful than Random Combos (including the default [=TaToBa=]), [[PowerAtAPrice albeit at the cost of leaving Eiji completely spent afterwards]].

* DeadlyUpgrade: The [=PuToTyra=] Combo (See BlessedWithSuck).
* DoppelgangerAttack: The [=GataKiriBa=] allows OOO to multiply himself to attack.

* GravityMaster: [=SaGoZo=] can manipulate gravity.

* KlingonPromotion: The show's GrandFinale sees Eiji use [=TaJaDol=] Combo to destroy the purple Core Medals once and for all, and with them the [=PuToTyra=] Combo that they granted him as his final form. Eiji eventually reclaims a full set of the other Medals, but the purple ones remain destroyed in canon movies, with the result that [=TaJaDol=] claims the mantle of OOO's final form for itself. Even in works that disregard this aspect of OOO's canon, [=TaJaDol=] continues to have an elevated place, such as being the only form to have its own Ridewatch canonically appear in ''Series/KamenRiderZiO''.
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: The all-red [=TaJaDol=] Combo is the only one that changes one of the parts when fully equipped to give it a unified phoenix motif, also making it the only Combo explicitly based off a mythical animal. It's portrayed as considerably stronger than the other Combos, and has a unique weapon that lets it use the powers of other Medals. That said, [[DownplayedTrope it can't do everything]], and all of the other Combos as well as various non-Combo arrangements have situations where they're much better suited for dealing with the current opponent. However, in the end it's [=TaJaDol=] that proves able to do what the all-purple [=PuToTyra=] Combo couldn't.

* MakingASplash: [=ShaUTa=] can liquify his body, as well as shoot water from his helmet.

Each individual core is based on a specific real world genus but when combined, and particularly when he's on a rampage, they create the imagery of a European dragon.

[[RealLifeWritesThePlot It's also horrendously intensive on the effects budget]]. As such, Eiji never gains access to it except when he would be absolutely unable to defeat an enemy otherwise.

* TimeMaster: Super [=TaToBa=] can temporarily stop time.

** After performing his HeroicSacrifice to enable Eiji to utilize [=TaJaDol=] in the FinalBattle, his spirit appears and fights side by side with Eiji, even aiding in the FinishingMove. Afterwards, his spirit continues to follow and watch over Eiji.

* BarehandedBladeBlock: Manages to do this against [=PuToTyra's=] Medagabryu in Episode 34.

* HeroicSacrifice: While Ankh was already dying by that point, in the end he uses up the last of his strength to let Eiji become [=TaJaDol=] Combo once more and destroy Maki and the Medal Vessel once and for all.

* RightHandVersusLeftHand: He and Eiji sometimes don't exactly clue each other in to important details (like when Kougami offered Eiji one of Ankh's medals). Another (smaller) example would be in Episode 35, where Shingo temporarily gains control of his body and tries to save Hina from the Unicorn Yummy.]]

** Happens again in Episode 40, only this time, both Eiji and Hina are unable to stop Ankh from getting consumed by Ankh (Lost). Three episodes later, however, Ankh (Lost) is killed, allowing Ankh to absorb what's left of him to try to regain his true power.

* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Eiji had to give her a well-made excuse about Ankh being raised on the streets so she wouldn't find out about his true nature. She goes onto believe the story until Episode 47.

* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: A few of her lines at the end of Episode 10 when she tries to teach Ankh etiquette and table manners[[note]]Though the purpose is ambiguous, since her restaurant is taking on a school theme in the scene.[[/note]] certainly count. Not one bit of accent when she used English.

* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: Occasionally. Especially evident in Episode 28, where she tries to hug Eiji and nearly ''snaps him in two''.

* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Averted. Eiji tries to make up a story about Shingo being on an undercover operation, but that lie gets blown almost immediately. He finally tells her the whole story in Episode 4.

* ActionGirl: She shows in Episode 20 just how badass she really is when she uses [[DualWielding a shotgun and a pistol]] to wipe out a small army of Mooks singlehandedly. Maybe her BigEater abilities weren't the only reason Kougami hired her... [[spoiler:And Kougami even makes her Goto's backup after Date passes onto him the mantle of Birth.]]
* BigEater: During Episode 14 her temporary replacement is seen to have collapsed halfway through his ''tenth'' cake, which is the size of a small cake one could buy from a grocery store. Kougami laments that the replacement, while doing everything he could to wolf down the cake, is not at Satonaka's level. One wonders how on earth she manages, and if her {{Hammerspace}} is in fact in her stomach.

* GunsAkimbo: In Episode 20, she arrives to help against the latest Yummy armed with a pistol and shotgun.

He grew into a jaded man with no desires, allowing him to become OOO (specifically, with the Red, Green, Yellow, Gray and Blue Medals) without losing his mind. Unfortunately, the Purple Medals feed on the desire of nothingness, explaining why it turns Eiji into TheBerserker. * StepfordSmiler: Episode 32 reveals he's a Type B -- despite initially having grand aspirations to help others, he became embittered after [[spoiler:being unable to stop the civil war that killed a girl he knew, which was being ''funded and orchestrated'' by his politician father.]] This lead to Eiji becoming a man without any personal desire or ambition - though he puts on a smiling face around others, it later becomes clear he has no sense of self-preservation and places his worth in fulfilling the desires of the people around him. The emptiness in his heart is such that [[spoiler: the Purple Medals, which desire only nothingness, are drawn to his complete lack of personal desire.]]

* BlessedWithSuck: The five purple Core Medals inside his body. Eiji has enough of the medals to use the [=PuToTyra=] Combo, by far the strongest terms of power ([[spoiler:in fact, strong enough to shatter Core Medals]]), and the medals themselves are sentient enough that they can emerge from his body on their own to be used if Eiji is ever in mortal danger. ** It's also the name of the Egyptian symbol of life, he's the only thing keeping Shingo alive [[spoiler:(and later, [[PinocchioSyndrome becoming truly alive has become his true desire]])]]. His theme ''Ankh The Greeed'' seems to support this as it is Egyptian themed.
