* DirtyCoward: Despite being a general, the very second Irene had the ability to transform into a dragon, he just outright betrays her with the dumb belief that she would turn into a second Acnologia and put her through hell instead of just finding a different way out of fear. And, when she does transform he pathetically whimpers in fear while saying he was "right" about her before she crushed him to death.

* {{Narcissist}}: While appearing kind-hearted and heroic at first, he was really cruel and ignorant and only thought of himself as he would only listen to his own twisted logic as his wife was a dragon and had her tortured and nearly killed for three years for his own sick beleif that she was no longer human, so in the end, he was only looking after himself.

* AssholeVictim: After betraying his wife and then publicly humiliating her, torturing her and attempting to cut up their unborn child out of sheer cowardice, he deserved exactly what he got.

* OhCrap: He has a moment of utter disbelief when he realizes that [[CallingTheOldManOut Lucy isn't going to go through with his arranged marriage after all]].

* AdultFear: Her only actual child, Ur, got sick because of the magic in her body, and so she took her to a local scientist for help, only to be told that Ultear had died. In reality, they kidnapped and experimented on the girl, causing her to become a psychopathic villain who resents Ur because she has been led to believe that her mother abandoned her. However, Ultear quickly realizes her mistake after she learned the truth on Sirius Island.

Both have lost loved ones and even a body part with Future Rogue losing his right eye while Future Lucy having lost her right hand, which caused them to fall into despair and even lost. The key difference is that Future Lucy comes back in time to save everyone and stop the coming ten thousand dragons from bringing disaster while Future Rogue wants to ensure it happens.
