* WeaponOfChoice: Surprisingly, ''not'' a bow and arrows (despite carrying them and resembling the Green Arrow), but throwing stars which are made of the arrowheads Oliver used over the years, stolen from SCPD evidence. He also makes liberal use of a sword.

* AmbiguousDisorder: It's mentioned that he was "mentally unstable" with psychiatric problems, which had led his father to attempt to disown him, but he never got round to doing it before he was killed by The Hood. He displays LackOfEmpathy and has a dangerous [[StalkerWithoutACrush stalker level obsessions]] with Oliver Queen, and a possible case of [[TheSociopath sociopathy]].

* RoguesGalleryTransplant: In the comics Prometheus is a Justice League villain with a grudge against Batman in particular. Here Prometheus is Green Arrow's arch nemesis and evil counterpart. This is less egregious than other examples as in the comics Oliver hated Prometheus enough to straight up track him to his lair and murder him.

* BerserkButton: He really doesn't like it when his minions question him or betray him. Nor does he like it when someone else tries to kill Green Arrow first or interfere with his agenda, even if indirectly.

* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Surprisingly, he's the in-between. His hatred is directed exclusively at Oliver, while the Earth-X Prometheus is a Nazi supervillain. His Earth-2 doppelganger is a hero.

* EvilerThanThou:
** Between him and his partner/mentor Talia Al-Ghul, Prometheus comes across as a lot more evil and despicable. While Talia is far from innocent and her reasons for ruining Oliver's life are likewise disproportionate, she does show some honor and restraint in her actions. Prometheus shows none and is perfectly willing to blow Lian Yu to pieces while she and everyone else working for him are still on it.
** Retroactively, Prometheus serves as this to every other Arrow BigBad thus far. While every previous BigBad in one way or another did terrible things, they had at least some justification for their actions; Malcolm [[LoveMakesYouEvil turned evil because of]] the death of [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes his wife]], Slade was infected by [[PsychoSerum the Mirakuru]] which went with Shado's death to drive him insane (and once the Mirakuru eventually detoxed out of his body, he proved willing to help Oliver again), Ra's Al-Ghul was a NobleDemon and Damien Darhk wanted to [[WellIntentionedExtremist make the world a better place]] for his family. Conversely, Prometheus murders his wife (the closest thing he had to a MoralityPet) and [[NeverMyFault blames Oliver for it]], shows no restraint in massacring innocent people, and is even willing to murder his own allies to get what he wants. His FreudianExcuse gets weaker and more pathetic with every atrocity he commits.

* {{Foil}}: Aside from being an EvilCounterpart to Green Arrow, he also serves as foils to some previous {{Big Bad}}s.
** Like Malcolm Merlyn's Dark Archer persona, Prometheus is a dark mirror of the hero's alter-ego. Oliver spent his season trying to bring Malcolm down, but Prometheus is the one trying to bring Oliver down. Malcolm is a powerful businessman with many resources, while Prometheus mainly operates solo. Malcolm, for all his flaws, loves his children and doesn't want to hurt them (although he does so inadvertently more than once), while the only member of Prometheus's family we see him interact with dies for trying to convince him to abandon his murderous crusade.
** Like Slade Wilson, Prometheus has a personal vendetta against Oliver Queen, and spends the season playing TheChessmaster to destroy the hero's life. However, Slade was once an ally and mentor, through some unfortunate circumstances felt betrayed by Oliver and came to hate him; Oliver's vigilante activities in Season One directly impacted Prometheus, with his father being killed by the Hood. Prometheus subsequently trains under Oliver's mentors rather than mentoring Oliver himself. In the end, unlike Slade, who pulls a HeelFaceTurn after taking time to reflect on his relationship with Oliver, Prometheus would [[DrivenToSuicide literally]] rather die than ever forsake his crusade against the man he hates.
** Like [[Characters/ArrowverseHunterZolomon Zoom]], Prometheus is an EvilCounterpart to his enemy, dresses in black, uses a [[CastAsAMask fake deep voice]], demonstrates sadistic and sociopathic tendencies, and poses as an ally to manipulate the hero. However, Zoom initially had no personal grudge against the Flash, while Prometheus's hatred for Green Arrow is evident from day one. Zoom also mainly used proxies to do his dirty work, while Prometheus does almost everything himself. Their backstories also reflect and contrast each other: Both their fathers were evil men responsible for the death and suffering of innocents, but unlike Zoom's father, Prometheus's was killed instead of being arrested, didn't kill Prometheus's mother, and forms the basis for Prometheus's grudge against Green Arrow.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: He appeared to be driven by revenge over Oliver killing his father, except it's later revealed he knew his father never loved him and still didn't care. He further shows how depraved of humanity he is by killing his own MoralityPet and thereby pulling a RedemptionRejection.

* RedemptionRejection: Oliver is still willing to reach to Adrian to help him despite all of his crimes... until Adrian makes it clear just how insane he is by killing his wife as she is trying to talk him down. It's treated as his MoralEventHorizon InUniverse, and from that point on Oliver makes no presumptions that he will ever be able to peacefully stop him.

* ArchEnemy: To Oliver Queen. Prometheus bitterly hates Oliver Queen and has dedicated his entire life to destroying his. The only other BigBad to have had such a personal vendetta against Oliver is Slade, but unlike Slade who was [[WeUsedToBeFriends once an ally]], Prometheus is Oliver's sworn enemy straight from the get-go. Considering Oliver is willing to ally with Slade ''and'' Malcolm Merlyn if it means stopping Prometheus, an argument can be made that he is Oliver's worst enemy by far.

Prometheus mainly operates alone, with his only allies being Evelyn, Talia, and anyone he can intimidate into helping.

* BondVillainStupidity: {{Subverted}}. While he wastes a lot of chances to kill Oliver in favour of tormenting him, the point is that he doesn't actually ''wants'' to kill Oliver. Instead, he wants to break him to the point where he [[StrikeMeDownWithAllOfYourHatred is forced to abandon his morals and kill Adrian]].

* RefugeInAudacity: In the episode "Checkmate," after Team Arrow finally finds out that Adrian is really Prometheus, he has no qualms walking around in broad daylight and taunting Oliver, Quentin, Rene, and Susan Williams out in the open about how he's going to make life hell for them]

* TheUnfettered: Much like ComicBook/TheJoker, he has no rules, limits, or [[EvenEvilHasStandards standards]]. In his crusade of torment against Oliver, ''absolutely nothing'' is off the table for him, regardless of how cruel, spiteful, or destructive to others it is. He even intended his own death, either at Oliver's hand or by suicide, to be one more method of hurting Oliver via a DeadMansSwitch and the mass murder of Oliver's friends and his own loyal allies.

* BadassNormal: The first ''Series/{{Arrow}}'' BigBad since Merlyn to have no out of the ordinary powers whatsoever. Yet he's able to go toe-to-toe with Oliver, who by this stage is a contender for WorldsStrongestMan. Prometheus is even able to cow the metahuman Black Siren into working for him.

* NotSoDifferent: He and Oliver both put on their masks to avenge their fathers, both of them went through hell to become proficient killers, and there's also the fact they both ''like'' killing and just needed an excuse to do it (or at least, that's what Prometheus ''makes'' Oliver believe until Felicity convinces him it's a load of crap), but... (read below).
* NotSoSimilar: For all their similarities, there is one major difference: When Oliver realized how far he was falling, he pulled back, or at least tried to. When Adrian realized how far he was falling, he went all in and discarded whatever humanity he had left. This is because Oliver didn't ''choose'' to become a killer and torturer -- it was the unfortunate result of his struggle to survive. Adrian, however, made a conscious choice to become what he was to avenge his father. Hence, Oliver still has his morality and clings to it like a lifeline, while whatever morality Adrian had before his father died, he has long since gotten ditched.

* VocalEvolution: Slightly. In his first three appearances, the deep voice produced by his voice changer has a more synthesized, almost robotic tone, but after that, it essentially just becomes Michael Dorn's natural speaking voice.

Oliver tries to TakeAThirdOption and disarms Adrian while freeing his son, but Adrian doesn't allow this and [[SelfDisposingVillain shoots himself in the head]] to spite Oliver one last time. It backfires spectacular because by a sheer miracle everyone on Oliver's side save Samantha survived, while everyone on Prometheus' side save Black Siren [[spoiler: and Talia]] died.

* AdaptationalNameChange: None of the versions of Prometheus were named Simon Morrison. Additionally, Adrian Chase was his real name in the comics, while here it's merely an alias.

* RoguesGalleryTransplant: Prometheus is usually a Batman villain in the comics, though he has gone up against Green Arrow plenty of times before and was even killed by Green Arrow in the comics.
