Further, he would've had to had the other soldiers in on it, lest one of them recognize him and perform the required ceremonies - in fact, not only are they aware, they seem very much "on his side", as the soldiers to either side of him, who took his soldier's hat and cloak, are giving the Duke quite a death glare as Kit makes his intentions clear.
