In Goha City, where everything from schools to card games is heavily regulated by the Goha Corporation, fifth-grade student [[HeroProtagonist Yuga Ohdo]] aims to follow his own path - his own "Road" - to bring fun and excitement back into his life. * OffModel: Characters shift sizes frequently in shots, with Yuga appearing to simply be slightly shorter than the rest to being only half of Gakuto's height.

The series is succeeded by ''[[Anime/YuGiOhGORUSH Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!!]]'' in Spring 2022, a DistantSequel set in the same universe that stars Yuga's descendants and also focuses on the Rush Duel format.

* NecessaryWeasel: Even though Yuga only just invented "Rush Duel", everyone has cards built around that format, even in flashbacks. Since Yuga envisioned the format because he felt the game proper was stale, it's implied he designed it to work well with already existing cards.
** It might become fridge brilliance once you realize that the one who inspired Yuga in the first, also giving him the card the deck revolves around, was a Goha employer, and specifically a card designer, meaning that the game was designed to go in that direction (and it would possibly explain why the game was so stale in the first place).

After spin-off after spin-off introducing new summoning methods and otherwise making the game more complicated, SEVENS brings the fun back into the game by simplifying the rules and giving players more opportunities to summon more monsters, draw more cards, and make friends in the process.

** In past series, the protagonists' unique one-of-a-kind cards are considered cool, but not much more is thought of it. In Episode 12 [[ManipulativeBastard Roa]] brings up the possibility that Yuga's Sevens Road Magician is an illegal card, as no one else has one and it's not in Goha's database. [[spoiler:Yuga received it from Otes which, as a worker for Goha, makes it legal, though Roa admits he knew from the start.]]
** While preparing to duel Nail, Yuga finds himself unable to do much as to combat Maximum Summon he [[spoiler: would need to create his own Maximum Monster,]] which is impossible as in a similar vein to the example above, he lacks a card which would be considered official by Goha. [[spoiler: His friends decide to sacrifice their own ID cards to substitute in, which deletes their accounts but gives him a fighting chance.]] [[spoiler: This extends throughout the series, as even after Hunt makes and sells a bunch of Maximum cards, only Yuga, Nail, and Hunt remain with Maximum Monsters, since Asana's was lost and Hunt deliberately only gave people a single, useless Maximum card to keep them weaker.]]
** As Luke finds out when he tries to find club members for the Luke Club/Rush Duel Club, just because ''Duel Monsters'' is popular, doesn't mean everyone in-universe plays it, and some decry it as nerdy and a waste of time.
** In episode 38, [[spoiler:Asana points out that it took many old ID cards from the prototype duel disks to find three usable ones to rewrite into her Maximum, Wurm Ex-Cavator. And, while Yuga also managed to recreate Magnum Over Road by finding three more usable Goha ID cards, both Maximum monsters start to break down when they battle each other.]]
** Goha 66 goal was to take over the company through Goha Dueling Computer hidden in Maximum Moutain. [[spoiler:However by the time the computer was found, not only is the computer too old to contain all the dueling information, but Goha already kept updating their servers just like any other company would throughout their years in development.]]
** It is difficult to be a GradeSchoolCEO so even with multiple, the Goha Siblings [[spoiler: are quickly overwhelmed by the work after Yuga's program for more duel types and Yuga Goha's chaos, initially slacking off and then requiring Mimi's help.]]

* InsaneTrollLogic: The AI robots working in Nail Saionji's Garden of Providence all have their own eccentric and wacky interpretations of what providence means to them. Neiru himself takes this UpToEleven, often [[YourAnswerToEverything linking whatever facet of life imaginable to providence.]]
