* WeAreTeamCannonFodder: Somehow, this series handles this worse than ''[=DokiDoki=]'', as the second half suddenly sidelines everyone not named Megumi in order to focus more on her CharacterArc with Blue. [[spoiler:They don't even help her out with fighting Red, as Cure Lovely gets an exclusive Forever Lovely form to completely {{Curb Stomp|Battle}} the final enemy]].

* TakeThatMe: Episode 23 has Hime going gaa-gaa over merchandise of the International Cures. Iona can't believe she'd want to waste her money on something like that.

** Phantom first appears in Episode 1 before his formal introduction in Episode 13.

* ButNotTooBlack: The international Precure who appear in episode 8 don't look any different from our Japanese main cast. Most egregious with the Wonderful Net Precure, who appear to be from India, with one of them sporting a [[FacialMarkings bindi]] -- despite this, their skin is only slightly darker. Or even better (worse?), Cure Nile, who despite being from ''Egypt,'' is just as fair as the Japanese mains.

* CelibateHero: Precures are forbidden from getting into relationships. [[spoiler:This turns out to be less because there's a specific danger with Precures falling in love and more because Blue and Mirage's relationship going sour was a major impetus in her turning evil, and he's making sure there's not even a vague risk of that happening again.]] Since we're talking ShoujoDemographic here, this naturally doesn't stop most of the team from getting crushes on various males over the course of show.

Iona's heartbroken by this revelation.
