openNon-Video Game examples for Regional Bonus Music
Can we start adding Non-video game examples for the Regional Bonus trope? Music albums in particular often have bonus content released exclusively for certain regions.
openGrammar changes Music
Auspicious She-wolf has been making unusual grammar related edits to the One-Hit Wonder page. Things like changing one adjective to another ("fairly" to "incredibly", "major" to "significant", "very hard" to "extremely challenging"), spelling out numbers, or changing dashes in a word (For instance, they change "one-hit wonder" to "one-hit-wonder"; Most instances of the term only use one dash, not two). I don't think any of those changes were especially necessary, least of all without any edit reason for why. I reverted their "one-hit wonder" to "one-hit-wonder" edit a few days ago, and they've just added it back along with these other grammar changes.
No edit reasons were left on either of their edits to this page. Any ideas what to do next? Are changes like this an issue?
EDIT: Looking through their edit history, they have a lot of similar edits.
Edited by thelivingtoadopenFormatting question Music
Album pages typically include the tracklist, but there seems to be disagreement over how to introduce it. When I make an album page, I put "Tracklist:" in bold to distinguish it from the Examples header, but some other editors seem to prefer the !! markup.
For example, someone has changed the headers on all the Taylor Swift album pages from
Tracklist:
to
Tracklist:
So which is correct?
Edited by joanofdirtopenSignature Line - Music Music
I noticed that Signature Line doesn't have a Music folder. Why is that? I can think of a few examples. For example, "It's better to burn out than to fade away." from Neil Young's "My My, Hey Hey".
openImage for Music/MeganTheeStallion Music
Andiman keeps changing the Image for the page without a given reason. Said image he changes it to is too big for the page and itās a selfie. I tried making a thread but nothing has been done about it.
openAndiMan keeps changing the picture for Music/MeganTheeStallion Music
I'm in favor of this picture
because it looks more professional and it had always been the photo on that page. I put it back because Andiman replaced the dead link one, and I found the exact same picture that was the dead link. Maybe we should cast a vote to see which picture stays.openWhere should Filk songs go? Music
I've noticed that some filk song artists (such as Miracle of Sound) are in two difference folders for some tropes such as Villain Song is in both fan works and web originals.
So my question is where should filk artists go music (because that is the form of content they make), Web Original (Often where their content is released) or somewhere between.
Edited by Jester_PunslingeropenAdditions to a Music Trope Category - Heavy Mithril & Filk Music
Hello! I'm wondering what the rules are about adding examples to a trope? I know of a few bands/recordings that might be suited to be added to the Heavy Mithril category (ie. Heather Alexander's folk rock band Phoenyx,) and a few that are suited to the Filk category, which are not listed; and I also can add some information to some of the existing listings (ie. the song Julia Ecklar is best known for.) What are the criteria to determine if something is worthy of adding?
Also, I dabble in both genres myself; would it be rude to add my own stuff if I'm realistic about it? It's not very well known, but it does exist.
Thanks in advance!
openSo Bad Its Horrible: The Clash? Music
There seems to be some debate in Music: Albums over whether or not Cut the Crap by The Clash belongs there. It's apparently been added and deleted twice. I've never listened to the album in question, so I can't speak for its quality. What say you?
Edited by BKelly95openMusic.Madonna Music
The page image for Madonna was changed months ago without providing any Image Pickin' discussion. In my opinion, while it's a "better image" than the previous one, it's kinda gaudy to me. So, I had set up an Image Pickin' discussion in regards to a better suggestion than that one that also associates Madonna and her whole career.

openSo Bad It's Horrible Music Albums Music
There seems to be an edit war, um, sauntering on Music: Albums . I say "sauntering" because the removed example was taken down a month after it was last added. The entry in question is for the Genesis album Calling All Stations. Page history here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Horrible.MusicAlbums . Perhaps it's time for a discussion?
openIndex needed Music
I have no idea how to comment in the thread for doing this. No idea why. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Awesome/KylieMinogue
open What's that r&b song called? Music
What was that song called that was played on Friday February 21 two month ago between 12:40 and 12:55 pm during the Throwback hour at noon that features I think DJ Breeze? It was on the Charleston South Carolina radio station Z93 Jamz, which is 93.3, call letters WWWZ. It was part of a dj song mashup and it goes something like this, "I'm Bout To Find Me; Another Man," I couldn't really tell what the vocals were singing, but I do know that it was female vocals that sounded like either, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, Angie Stone, Chante Moore, Kelly Price, Lauryn Hill, Ce Ce Peniston, Deborah Cox, or Alicia Keys. If anybody has any information, please let me know, thanks.
Edited by Eightball535openWrong page kind Music
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Analysis/ShawnColvin This page is listed as a sub-page, despite being work pages, and has been unnoticed since 2012. Can one of you guys fix that?
Edited by IWillNibbleYourEaropenInconsistent namespacing with Standard Snippet subpages Music
Is there a reason why some of the Standard Snippet subpages are under Music/ (eg. Ride of the Valkyries) and list examples as Standard Snippet (eg. "Standard Snippet: Ride of the Valkyries plays as Alice rides into battle"), while some are under Main/ (eg. Amazing Freaking Grace) and list examples as themselves (eg. "Amazing Freaking Grace: This plays at Alice's funeral")?
Edited by SynchronicityopenIs this actually less of a ZCE? Music
The Awesome Music entry for Visage simply said that every song of theirs are awesome. Then, a troper decided to make it less of a Zero Context Example by adding specific song names. Except... That's not more context, right? Both examples are referring to a specific set of songs, and neither version actually says anything about them.
Edited by JamesJames
For some reason, this page has an entire folder dedicated to entries about a very big controversy regarding one member of the group accusing another of bullying her. IIRC, YMMV entries for musical artists and groups have to be about the music and content, not the artists themselves or their controversies, so it's bad form to have any entries about this controversy, let alone an entire folder.
