openNarm misuse on DC Extended universe Film
So I found this in DC Extended Universe
The way the movie’s Broken Aesop comes about. Diana spends the entire movie convinced that Ludendorff is really Ares and, if she kills him, the war will automatically end. At the end, she kills him only to find out he isn’t Ares and Humans Are Bastards that don’t need to be swayed by a mystical god of war to try to kill each other. Except no, Diana just had the wrong guy and, yes, Ares really did influence and aggravate the war (even if he claims he didn't outright cause it). And once he's dead, the war’s over. Now strictly this is due to an armistice taking effect just when Ares dies, but the way it's framed, it looks like the enemy soldiers come out of a trance because Ares died and they even start hugging Diana's allies. The way the movie so deftly undoes the previous two hours of build-up is a thing to behold.
Umm...but the point is that Ares might have swayed them into doing it but it was still their idea to actually make the decision which he does by playing on their prejudices that are already their Also this is written really weirdly.
openEdit War Film
Yesterday Masterrobert added the following example to YMMV.The New Mutants under Harsher in Hindsight:
- The very same day this film got released, Chadwick Boseman, who played Black Panther in another Marvel Universe passed away. Guess this film is cursed after all...
MightyMewtron removed it, Masterrobert added it back, King Clark removed it, Masterrobert added it back again.
On the same page Masterrobert added the following example:
- Fandom Rivalry: With the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the Disney-Fox merger delayed this film severely. The fact that the Disney-Fox merger eliminated the chances of Josh Boone's trilogy didn't help.
KingClark removed it, Masterrobert re-added it back

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Film/SuperDeluxe
Hello, new Troper here. I just created my first article for Super Deluxe and would like article feedback. (If you're not familiar with the film, it's available on Netflix with subtitles.)
resolved Edit War on YMMV / Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) Film
Derv0sB2 Added an entry to the page in question under Unintentionally Unsympathetic. Diamond In The Robot deleted it because they didn't agree with it. Then Derv0s B 2 added it back.
Regardless of whether you agree with the entry (I don't, or at least think it needs serious work) this is clearly an Edit War. What do?
Edited by MinisterOfSinisteropenTrope arc length Film
Hello, Assuming tropes take a certain amount of time to pay off, should there be a distinction between long arc tropes vs short arc tropes in the search index? Or simple vs complex tropes.. still wrapping my mind around a method of organization.
Edited by RallythetropessopenPossible problem troper Film
I was just renovating the description for Film.Dark Waters and noticed that the history contained this paragraph, added to the top of the page by Nasty Interesting Man in May:
It was subsequently deleted by Melinda, who also corrected many of the spelling/grammar issues that Nasty was complaining about.
Nasty's edit history is very short and sporadic, and this appears to be the last time they contributed to the wiki since May, but I feel it's recent enough to warrant action of some kind.
Edited by Dirtyblue929openIs this correct or not? Film
On The Batman (2021) it has "Adaptational Name Change: Riddler's civilian surname has been changed from Nygma to Nashton."
I'm positive there's at least one incarnation where Nashton was his legal last name before he changed it after leaving home. So does this actually count as Adaptational Name Change or no?
Edited by AkibaPurpleopenUnable to add videos for certain tropes Film
So I don't know if this is an issue for other people but whenever I try to upload videos for the following tropes, Gondor Calls for Aid, Moral Event Horizon, Heartwarming Moments, Our Dragons Are Different. Instead of getting the edit videos prompt, the prompt is "recent videos". And it says that no videos have been linked to this title. Clicking on recent videos takes me back to the video example page.
What I find strange is that Our Dragons Are Different and Gondor Calls for Aid have video examples. So I don't know if this isn't an issue for other users or if they have found a way around the problem
Here is a screenshot of the issue when trying to upload https://imgur.com/a/NP0bdrx
Edited by SithPanda16openHow to create a Sandbox Page? Film
So I was about to make Project Power movie page but I was thinking I should make a Sandbox so that I can check my edit and show you guys what do you think about my page before I can created the real page. So how I created the sandbox version and where i can show this page for people to check or review?
Edited by BubblepigopenAnalysis/Blue Is The Warmest Color Film
On Analysis.Blue Is The Warmest Color.
Seeing the Analysis page of Blue Is the Warmest Color, I find it littered with First Person Writing. The only history of it is that it was transferred by St Fan in the correct namespace. I'm considering on rewriting it to be less first person-ny, or provide a signature on who originally wrote this, but considering that the original page was cut, I would ask for the pre-cut history of the original Analysis page.
openRude edit + Edit War Film
A couple of days ago, Klamath made a few additions to Funny.Hot Fuzz, including the word "Morons." to describe those who would confuse the Met[ropolitan Police force of London] with the NY museum or the baseball team. I deleted it and sent them a rudeness notifier. They just added it back.
open Show I can’t remember the name of. Film
Pretty sure it’s a show, can’t remember on which app, but it’s about a girl in a secret sex cult (you don’t find out until later on) and her best friend was told to recruit her by the leader, but she didn’t want to so she hit her friend on the head with a lantern. The lawyer people were trying to find the last piece of the lantern for evidence, and they had to drain a lake to do so. At the very end, the leader of the cult confronts the lawyer and tells him why he did it. Then the lawyer pushes him off the side of a cliff. Please help!!!
The lawyer is an older white man, and I think someone important is a tall blonde lady
openA Cinderella Story 2004 / Moral Event Horizon Film
I know I discussed this before, but I still wonder how, from A Cinderella Story, knowingly torturing an abuse victim into tears doesn’t count as a Moral Event Horizon. To me, that’s rather heinous. I’m not re-adding the trope; I’m just asking for another perspective on the subject.
Edited by NoobMasteropenUnintentionally Unsympathetic / Live-Action Films Film
I made several folders into h the Live-Action Films section. Did you think I did the right thing, or should the folders be eliminated?
Edited by NoobMasteropen What is this trope? Film
When onscreen characters cannot see things that a real person in a similar situation would easily notice from a distance. This is usually used to let enemies sneak up on the on-screen character. Like when ninja or an ax-murder somehow crosses an empty open field in a few seconds so that when the victim looks back, they're already under attack.
openFolders (and moments) Film
Howdy. It’s me again. So far, I’m getting used to TV Tropes and its mechanics. What’s really bugging right now is how to get the folders up for characters. Plus, there’s no sign of any pages that direct to Awesome, Funny, Heartwarming, Nightmare Fuel or Tearjerker whatsoever. I thought it would be the more experienced thing for older Tropers. How can we make this work?
Edited by 8454178970openA- 112 Film
A- 112 has added a Base-Breaking Character example before June 2020 (the specified date to add) to YMMV.The Rise Of Skywalker. Said example also contained some grammatical issues. Looking over their edit history, it seems that not many of their edits contain grammar problems, but they've also added what I believe to be misuse of Better Than Canon.
Edited by EarthboundFanopenShould this have been deleted? Film
I was looking at the history for Smokey and the Bandit and I found this had been deleted:
- How long was Charlotte crated up and left in a dark warehouse in Florida? And pregnant, no less. The guard didn't seem to know what was in crate 1444, did she get food and water?
The reason for deletion was "Deleted a fridge horror entry that had nothing to do with the film", but this does look like it has something to do with the film (well, the sequel, but the work page covers the entire trilogy). Would it be okay to readd it?
A user deleted a few shorts from the Public Domain Feature Films page saying that only "feature length" titles should be listed. I feel that a separate page for public domain shorts isn't needed since both are often lumped together in the example section of any trope page, not to mention the PD cartoon page lists animated shorts and features together without any complaints. So is it okay to list shorts and features together on the public domain films list?
