I tend to play OCs myself... though really, I'm not sure why Sapph, Luca, Garcie and Lillian have stuck around so long.

I decided to tag Mic out for someone less ginormous. I figure I'll try to regularly rotate my Gao Gai Gar character, for fun.

That makes sense.

I'm pretty sure Jacky has stuck around so long because it's just so damn fun to play someone with Terezi senses.

I can't really comment on how people are playing characters compared to their sources when I'm not familiar with the sources, so I tend to comment more on whether or not I like the character as played and whether or not it is someone who I can play off of well.

Etna's other berserk buttons include eating her pudding, upstaging her, stepping on her lines, trying to do the Next Episode preview, being a Prinny, and blackmailing her into betraying her friends then trying to kill her.

Sapph as your Author Avatar has several things going for him. Firstly, he's basically the character you use to experiment. His Butt-Monkey status has a slight element of self-depreciation to it, but things such as the many random transformations to him, his regular magic, and his godhood status and powers are basically what you use to play around with the world, and is partially manifested by how much life screws him over to keep him from being bored. His relationship with Anne and his musings on his godhood are your serious moments.

Luca, like Mana, is your version of The Heart / The Messiah. Her kind and gentle nature allows you to effortlessly transition between serious and lighthearted moments. She leans a bit more twoards the fun-loving side of things, what with her love of superheroes. She's incredibly extroverted/sociable, making it easy to incorporate anybody, whether it be new players or consistent players who need a way in, into the action, given how she'll say "hi" to almost anybody in order to make a new friend or make them feel welcomed. And she has two consistent abilities such as healing and aura detection which are always useful and have multiple uses for nearly any occasion.

Garcie is sorta your Knight in Sour Armor. She employs your need to poke fun at some of the more ridiculous/insipid/unusual/Fridge Logic aspects of the game with her "snark shark" attitude. Her semi-acceptance of the current insane atmosphere makes for an interesting little thought piece, given her tearjerker of a past. Plus, she's a powerhouse in combat. Her relationship with GG is sorta like he's the boke to Garcie's tsukkomi, something that fits her fairly well. Plus, allows her to have some Pet the Dog sorta moments with GG.

Lillian is similar to Anne in that she's your Genki Girl / Fun Personified character. However, she also has a lot of elements of The Heart to her...so...guess she's like the Dojikko or something. She's rather normal in personality, in a way, which is interesting, in that she's not really stupid but she's not some sorta brainy person. This basically allows you to allow for either stupid/silly moments or serious/smart moments without it being wildly out of character. Her dragon-half and giant ancestry allows for magical and fantastical abilities, but none of that takes hold of the entirety of her character. As for the whole serious thing...well, you saw what happened with Mammon. Plus, she's protective as hell towards her friends, so...

I'm doing that for myself, really. And it's more an introspective look into why those characters in particular have stuck for so long, rather then "how well you're playing them" or whatever.
