Cats have a limited sense of object permanence: You can hide an object from them and they'll know it's still there, but on the other hand, apparently, they can't grasp that two different doors can lead to the same place. So if you've got two doors that lead to the porch, this can lead to your cat wanting to be let out, seeing that it's raining, then going to the other porch door to see if it's raining on the "other" porch too.

I've only heard of the foremost.
When a text written in the Cyrillic script is transcribed into the Latin script, certain unusual letters such as 'Ẑ' are used.
In a much nerdier note: These letters have helped my transcribed my own constructed script. Though it looks rather silly, mostly due to length.
