Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

I would like the page for Black House unlocked. It's empty and I have no idea why an empty page for a rather obscure sequel to a popular novel would be locked, but obscure though it may be, it is one of my favorites and I'd like to bring it to life.

Thanks.

On Chekov's Gun, can [=ÞChekhov's GunÞ=] be changed to ChekhovsGun?

While on the topic of Chekovs Gun, could it be moved to the non-ptitle version?

Just one, and it's on the page itself. It's in the very first bullet point under the examples section.

Nice, I saw that but thought it was a fluke. Hmm, it still claims to be linked to from itself, which is odd. Also I was going to cut it but it has almost 3K inbounds, so ... nope!

Is this going to be taken care of anytime soon, or do we need to discuss it more in the thread?

Sorry, I missed it. Kind of assumed Madrugada was going to take care of that one. Swapped and the thread locked.

In Sonichu, there is an unnecessary pothole to Understatement and there is pointless ]s at the end of Troll.

On Panty And Stocking With Garter Belt, The first second-level bullet on the Tearjerker example contains an unnecessary mention of Better Than It Sounds. Could one of the mods delete the sentence containing it, please? It's being used to justify people liking things in the same way as a Justifying Edit would be.

Please link to the actual page you want edited. That was on the YMMV subpage. I removed it.

How does writing part of a book make him a Badass? And seriously, enough with The Bible tropes. How is that work not finished?

[up] People keep reading it and having revelations.

Seriously, the Made of Iron relates, if I'm not mistaken, to all the times he was imprisoned and such during his ministry.

[up][up] Ah, no. He is a Badass, which is listed in the page. He's a Badass, who has enough intellect to write a religious scriptures. Hence, Badass Bookworm.

I personally don't see why you are so adament in not editing The Bible tropes when my suggestions were very neutral, as far as I know. Aren't we treating this as just another series with tropes?

Why SHOULD it finished? I don't know if this is a correct comparison, but some series that already ended very shortly, like Fire Fly, have character and main page that is constantly updated. There are hundreds of scholars who are still studying Bible and discovering new facts about figures in the story. Besides, some people just merely noticed that some tropes can be applied to them and were prompted to list them themselves when they didn't see the tropes. Your, and the others', refusal to add non-controversial tropes in The Bible and related pages puzzles me, to say the least.

Tell me if there's any editing rules that I'm missing here, because I'm not very well-versed in them.

Badass Bookworm is about subverted expectations—it's a character with a bookwormy exterior who turns out to be surprisingly badass. It is not simply "A person who both reads books and is badass".

Rhymes with "Protracted."
