Trolls Band Together:

  • The Runaway: John Dory, Bruce and Clay left their home when they were teenagers for selfish reasons.

    • John Dory ran away to live his life in the middle of nowhere so he wouldn't have to be in charge of anyone, including his four younger brothers.

    • Bruce left so he wouldn't be pushed around by anyone else like John Dory did to him.

    • Clay departed from his home so he could find Trolls who would take him seriously.

Roman Reigns

Creator's Pet:

  • After years of being a disappointing babyface and failing to connect to the fans, Roman finally turns heel in 2020, all while maintaining his status as the top star of the company. However, despite the initial popularity of the Tribal Chief persona, Roman's second Universal Championship reign has faced backlash from fans due to his infrequent title defenses, which only worsens when he also holds the WWE Championship. As of March 2024, his reign has surpassed 1300 days, making it the fourth longest in the company's history, but he has defended the title only 56 times. Fans have grown weary of Reigns' lengthy reign, especially after his victory over Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39, as they anticipate he will only drop the title at the next WrestleMania. Due to Roman's control over both world championships, WWE had to establish a third world title in 2023 to allow other wrestlers to have a chance to compete.

Thanks

@ The Corellian Trilogy

  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The efforts to evacuate Thanta Zilbra and Bovo Yaga only get a couple of pages of exposition. They could have added more urgency to stopping the super weapon and provided a bit of color by going into the All There in the Manual backstories of those planets.

@ Chaos Walking

  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Wilf only appears sporadically throughout the trilogy but has a big fanbase for being one of the sweetest people Todd and Viola meet and one of their most helpful allies.
    • Talking Heroic Dog Manchee, Badass Bookworm Cool Old Lady Hildy, healers Maddy and Corinne, and Reasonable Authority Figure Wrench Wench Simone each only get a supporting role in one book of the trilogy but all have large fanbases and have people who call them some of the best characters in the series.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Davy is a bully who makes a good transition to Overlord Jr., but he is also a lonely, self-loathing kid who has been raised by a messed up guy. He becomes even more tragic when he is betrayed and held at gunpoint by the only two people he cares about, one of whom then shoots and mocks him. He dies feeling immense regret for both failing to serve his father well and for doing evil things on behalf of his father. His last act is to beg Todd for forgiveness, but he never gets to hear Todd's reply.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • Matthew Lyle (an Ax-Crazy resident of the first town Todd encounters after leaving Prentisstown) is the son of the former mayor who Prentiss killed and deposed, and is determined to get revenge and protect his wife and daughter. He could have ended up as part of the resistance and provided a lot of Evil vs. Evil conflict or gotten a redemption arc, but he vanishes from the story long before the narrators reach Haven and it is never even revealed what happens to him or his family.
    • Many Prentisstown citizens who could have made interesting and potentially conflicted recurring enforcers of the Mayor only get a scene or two, like Mr. Phelps (a Nervous Wreck who misses his wife but is still a dangerous soldier) and Seb Mundy (who is only a bit older than Todd and was his playmate before being forced to kill their teacher for his initiation into the army).

One Piece: Nami

  • Proud Beauty: She's sexy; she knows it and, for advantages, is not afraid to use it.

  • When She Smiles: Nami has been deeply affected by her painful past when Arlong destroyed her childhood. Despite this, Nojiko is surprised to learn that Nami can genuinely smile when she's with her True Companions. After leaving the crew and shedding some Tender Tears, Nami yearns to rejoin the group, and when they come to her rescue, she smiles "from the bottom of her heart". Rejoining the crew makes it easier for Nami to smile, especially when she's with Luffy.

got some trope entries I'd like to check for spelling and grammar errors.

  • The Aloner: Once everyone, including his friends, severed their ties with Cartman, he ends up completely alone and isolated from people; as a result he grows up to be an drunk crazy homeless man whose extremely miserable. His only method of communicating with the people who use to have associated with him now is to angrily curse at them, which certainly doesn’t draw them into wanting to be with him.
  • Easily Forgiven: Kyle seems to have forgiven Heidi once she goes back to her normal Nice Girl self “The Problem With a Poo” since he had no problems with Heidi sitting near him during band rehearsals despite Heidi’s past mistreatment of Kyle when she was still Cartman’s Distaff Counterpart.
  • Karmic Shunning: The entire town shuns Mr. Hankey for his racist and inappropriate tweets and refusal to acknowledge his faults. It gets to the point where Mr. Hankey is forced to leave South Park and move to another town that would accept him.

For Magnificent Bastard

  • Moriarty the Patriot: Colonel Sebastian Moran is the charismatic right-hand man of William Moriarty. Moran helps facilitate all of Moriarty's best gambits with stylish grace such as using his sharpshooting techniques to frame a aristocrat murder as a suicide/accident or setting fires all across London to unite the city. A brilliant mastermind in his own right, Moran deduces the source of guns being used to fund the Afghan British war and sets about dismantling the operation. He feigns that he has switched sides to the conspirators and seemingly kills his ally, only to fake her death and get her to evacuate all their potential victims. He than totally breaks the consipirators before Killing them. Even with William's seeming death, Moran continues to Faithfully serve his mission to rid the world of the corrupt aristocraty and when he discovers William is alive, happily retires to faithfully serve him once more.

YMMV.The Sponge Bob Square Pants Movie:

  • Common Knowledge: Since the movie was originally intended to be the show's Grand Finale (before it was uncanceled), many fans tend to view the movie as the chronological finale of the show, even after the show continued. However, according to the current showrunner Vincent Waller, the movie was never intended to be the show's finale at any point, which makes sense, since SpongeBob operated on Negative Continuity.note

YMMV.The Railway Series:

  • My Real Daddy: While Wilbert Awdry created Thomas, many fans attribute his design to Thomas the Tank Engine illustrator Reginald Payne, as he is the one who made Thomas into an E2 tank engine instead of the engine Awdry had intended for him (which was allegedly a j50).

YMMV.Whisper Of The Heart:

  • Tough Act to Follow: Given that Ghibli's Animated Adaptation is a beloved Cult Classic, it should come as no surprise that the 2022 live-action sequel by Sony immediately fell into this upon its announcement. When it was released, one of the biggest points of contention from critics was that it failed to live up to Ghibli's adaptation.

Kevin Owens

  • Underestimating Badassery: At Night 1 of WrestleMania 38, Kevin Owens challenged "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to a No Holds Barred match. Owens believed he would have an easy victory over Austin, considering Austin's absence from the ring for two decades. However, Owens was in for a rude awakening as the Texas Rattlesnake dominated the match, showing the younger wrestler that time had not diminished his skills.

@‘Manhunt (2024)

  • Adapted Out: Prominent Booth associates Samuel Arnold and Michael O'Laughlin were both implicated and arrested on April 17th in real life but go unmentioned at that point in the show.

    • Ned Spangler makes racist and bullying comments to Peanuts while getting him to hold a horse for Booth after a suspicious meeting and presses his body against a door to delay people chasing Booth, while real-life records suggest he had a more friendly and respectful relationship with Peanuts (telling him it was ok to blame Spangler if anyone got upset with him for holding the horse), may not have known why Booth wanted the horse, and indicate he snapped at a man for yelling which way Booth went but otherwise never actively aided in Booth's escape.

  • Small Role, Big Impact: George Atzerodt has less screentime than any of the other conspirators, but his failure to go through with assassinating Vice President Johnson paves the way for Johnson to succeed Lincoln, obstruct Stanton, and go on to have one of the worst presidencies in a century full of bad presidencies. Also, George being arrested and having his role in the plot publicized wins Johnson much-needed public confidence that he might have otherwise lacked after Lincoln's assassination and helps him move forward with his agenda.
