Was that Blastoff change made to Strafe? Because my Strafe's got a good head on him.

Also, goddamnit, good on Takara, I thought that Bruticus/Pyra/Hot Spot error would never get fixed. Just makes me all the more disappointed that Bruticus's release was so shit.

So okay I've been playing with an 'original transformers series' idea for a fanfic.

When I was toying with the idea of characters I wanted to give each character their own 'voice' if you will. Transformers is a story about an endless war so each character should be a different soldier or warrior. They all have motivations for why they fight. These motives can by played with depending on M.O., Function, Alt-Mode, Special Abilities/Weapons, etc.

For the Decepticons (I still haven't gotten to the Autobots). We have Pride, Rage/Berserkers, Greed/Opportunists, Loyalty/Fanatics, Fear, Despair, Logic, Honor, Cruelty, Humor/Malcontents-see the war as an excuse to cause trouble, and the Slob.

Note: Greed comes in many other forms then 'hired gun'. In general I'm referring to any sort of selfish action. Aside from Hired Guns we have Blackmailers, Thieves, Arms Dealers, and people who hoard resources for themselves.

That's eleven (counting their leader it'll be 12). Do you think I missed any?

Are they OC's? Or are you just pulling Cons from the franchise to fit the archetypes? Blot or Scalor would be a decent Slob.

New Takara products Kup's done gone gray.

[up]Argh, I was gonna post about that!

Kup's looking pretty iffy with those colors IMO, but Rodimus?

I'll put it like this: OHHH MYYY! grin

I'll get both. I wasn't too fond of Rodimus and Kup's hasbro colors (and Kup's not been released here yet), but I really like their decos here. And another Sharkticon is great.

I'm not wild about grey Kup, but I appreciate the details and target master. Maybe he can clip onto his Generations figure (which is an awesome figure BTW).

I picked up LG Scourge. Better than Hasbro's, but still inferior to the Generations mold. I've got that one as my Scourge and the two Headmasters as the Sweeps.

Looks nice. I wish the other products had shots attached to the figure like Nautica's.

Hmmm. Those guns for Fastlane do look awfully good.

Hrm. But I don't want to get a whole box set just for one Legends sized Autobot Clone...

(Is hoping the hypothetical Takara version of Fastlane doesn't have guns, just to have an excuse to get these guns from Shapeways.)

I'll probably get the Boxed set. I skipped Optimus, and I do want that Nautica and Fastlane.

But the other Boxed set is a definite. I want that Ginrai, Tidal Wave, Pounce, and Metalhawk way more than Velocitron.

I also picked up TAV Ratchet today, and wow I'm happy with him. Not only is it a very good ratchet (I'll put him with my Lost Light crew because he really does look like MTMTE Ratchet), but the shoulders design flaw from Strong-arm has been fixed so that the chest actually keeps them in place (not fully, but much better than hers). Would recommend.

More LG Kup with added teal.

I Think I'll add Gluttony since hunger is also a pretty basic motive (and one of the seven deadly sins-I think I'm only missing Envy and Lust now). It was a war partly driven by an energy crisis. Granted one of the possible habits for this character is eating people, which doesn't really fit in with a Blood Knight or Glory Seeker, but still... He'd certainly fall under the Psycho for Hire soldier.

On the upside this does round me off at a Dirty Dozen Decepticons to work under Megatron.

I really want to play with the Dysfunction Junction / Surrounded by Idiots tropes. So is there any other defining character traits that come to mind?

Transformers: Robots in Disguise Combiner Force is back.

Looks like we're getting Soundwave back from Prime as a villain. And Motormaster, thus Menasor

Also Rumble and Frenzy under new names

Also upcoming Rescue Bot crossover. Always weird remembering those shows are supposed to be in the same universe.

Does anybody know where to find a clip of that line where Galvatron says "this is bullshit!" in Japanese?

Been looking for information about the movie's casualty rate among the Autobot Cars.

We know Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, and Jazz survived.

We saw them killed/their bodies/grave-marker: Ironhide, Prowl, Ratchet, Brawn, Wheeljack, Windcharger, and Huffer ("Dark Awakening").

Early drafts for the script/storyboards had them slated to be killed off: Gears, Trailbreaker, Mirage, Smokescreen (in place of Wheeljack), Red Alert,

Appeared, but fates unknown: Bluestreak (was with Huffer so not good odds for him), Hound, Sunstreaker (both were last seen with Prime so they likely lived after the battle), Grapple (seen with Perceptor during the battle),

Appeared in the storyboard where Red Alert is killed: Sideswipe and Tracks-either killed by the Constructicons or got away with Ultra Magnus.

Unaccounted for: Hoist, Inferno, and Skids.

This sound about right?

[up] Yeah. Note that Storyboard with Red Alert's death was canonized in the Fun Pub magazine. Tracks and Sideswipe seemed to have gotten away.

I remember hearing about Bluestreak's name appearing in "Dark Awakening" but never saw it when I watched the episode. Anyone know what that's about?

Lookie lookie y'all

LG Brawn, Trigger-happy, and Kickback.

Trigger-happy looks good. Like the Headmaster and the deco is fine though similar to the Hasbro one.

Brawn: Meh. pass. Too similar to Hasbro, and I like the brighter hasbro colors anyway.

Kickback: Even if I didn't think he looked great I'd pick him up. Army-building with Insecticons and all that.

Do you guys prefer built in weaponry for the Transformers or hand held weapons?

I prefer the former

I like either just fine, but built-in storage is best. Be it flip out hand/blaster/blade swapping, compartments, holsters, or even just peg-on/clip-on options. The more hidden, inconspicuous, and secure, the better.

[up][up] Fiction or toys? Because toy is almost entirely the latter. I also like both, though when a toy can integrate a built in weapon (Like say MP Soundwave's shoulder canon) it's cool.

No super strong opinion. I'd say hand-held generally since it helps differentiate them from a lot of regular mecha - makes them more like people and less just weaponized mechs. Not to say some built in weapons aren't cool.

I guess I prefer handheld. I like the look, and can be better integrated into the figure when the toys are inevitably made. That said I do enjoy the WFC/FOC weapons, and Optimus's Prime guns (especially when FOC used them). Those guns had the right bit of heft and design.

So interesting thing I notice during my research of Gen I tech specs. Deception Hunters/Trackers tend to be wolves (Weirdwolf, Fangry, Carnivac) and in the case of Scourge the Sweeps are describe as a 'wolfpack' in his bio.

Why do I bring this up? Hunters/Trackers also serve as Scouts. Bumblebee is a Scout.

In the RID Cartoon Bumblebee's Arch Enemy Steeljaw is a 'Con with a wolf motif and has at least on one occasion demonstrated tracking skills. Doubt it was intentional, but I can't help but like how this makes Steeljaw a perfect Evil Counterpart to Bumblebee.

Wouldn't Bumblebee's counterpart be a scout? Like Breakdown. Or Reflector.
