I'm most excited about Hakumei to Mikochi because I love the Tinker Bell movies and Hamtaro.
And I'm very excited about Mitsuboshi Colors because I like the manga.
Also Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san seems like a must-watch as a not-irritatingly-ecchi rom-com.
Yuru Camp looks like it won't skimp on the comedy in favor of the camping technical-ness, so I'm in. I did enjoy Yama no Susume, but I wasn't crazy about it, so I hope to find a gem in this anime.
Sanrio Danshi aka Sanrio Merchandising Anime worth checking out, up in the air whether it'll be good or not.
And then there's Sakura Clear Card Arc. I didn't feel the series needed a continuation, and I always was way more into the manga than the anime, but I think it should be pretty great for the more-than-casual fans. Should not disappoint, but I don't know whether I can be as into the series as I once was back in the olden days.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot....Just keep in mind that the target audience here is a couple decades older

So Kyoani released VE's trailer in 4 different versions, i.e with the theme song in 4 different languages (English, French, Chinese and Korean).
They really want to get back that budget, eh.
Right now I'm just hoping that Violet Evergarden is actually well-written. I've been burned by Kyoani far too many times on that front, but I'll keep coming back...
It's been fun.I hope that I will get to watch the Shinkansen mecha anime. I'm kind of bored stuck with Puzzle & Dragons X and Monster Strike as my only kids' anime fix.
Why don't you try watching something beside's kiddy anime.
Yeah, there's obviously a risk that VE ends up being all style and no substance, but from the little we've seen I'm fairly optimistic.
A new trailer for VE just came out a week or so ago. If people want I can look through it and sum up what seems to be there.
It's been fun.I’m just hoping Darling in the Franxx is more akin to Trigger’s output than A-1’s. I need a good mecha anime this season.
Honestly outside of Inou-Battle, Kiznaiver, and LWA (Even that last one is a stretch.) I haven't been impressed with Trigger. Kill La Kill was entertaining for the one episode I saw of it but even while I was watching that first episode it didn't feel like enough to sustain a whole show. I've heard good things about Luluco and while I can understand why people liked it, the humor wasn't for me.
Then again, I still don't get the hate for A-1 that I see all the time. With the exception of Sword Art Online I've enjoyed pretty much everything I've seen by them (Both seasons of Ao no Exorcist, every iDOLM@STER series they've covered, Oreimo, Vividred Operation, WWW.Working!!, all of the Persona 3 movies, and the cutscenes they've done for videogames like Persona 4, the sixth Ace Attorney game, and the most recent game in the Layton series.) and even the things I haven't seen to completion I've enjoyed. Yeah their art isn't always the best but other than that what's wrong with them as a studio?
Kyo Ani is marketing Violet Evergarden as a melodrama, for whatever that's worth
Thus far Darling in the Franxx looks to be about as far from Trigger's standard formnote as they've gotten
A-1 is notorious for its poor labour practices. They had a karoshi incident a few years back. They’re also kind of an outsourcing nexus, so their output is unpredictable in quality both series-to-series and episode-to-episode - some impressive highs, but also some significant lows, and not much of an individual directorial voice that gives a show real personality.
What's precedent ever done for us?Labor practices aside, that's why the hope is Trigger gives them some direction.
That and I'll be honest, I want a good mecha show that isn't an isekai power fantasty or one of the worst wastes of potential I've ever seen to the point the damn show doesn't care about mecha.
well, my list f anime I'l going to at least check out this winter:
Darling in the Franxx
Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card Arc
Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san
Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion
Killing Bites
Violet Evergarden
Citrus
Pop Team Epic
Mitsuboshi Colors
Violet Evergarden
Hakumei to Mikochi
Fate/Extra: Last Encore
Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho
My list for the start of the season:
- Looking forward to:
- Cautiously-optimistic about:
- DARLING in the FRANXX
- Fate/Extra Last Encore - I'm not really sold on the EXTRA's premise, so it's here rather then in the group above.
- Grancrest Senki
- Overlord 2012 season 2
- Fate/Grand Order shorts
- Maybes...:
- Might try...:
- Death March To The Parallel World Rhapsody
- Sora Yorimo Toui Basho - if it's more about Antarctica than about random high-school-girl hijinks
- Takunomi
...And I still need to get around to watching Gintama

All right. Generating my list, with the usual caveats on availability
Definite
- DEVILMAN crybaby (mostly here because I know it will be available on Nexflix)
- Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Hen (all I ask is that Tomoyo get a girlfriend!)
- Overlord II (All hail the great Ainz Oowl Gown! And all pity that poor salaryman deep inside him)
- Darling in the Franxx. (You had me at "Studio Trigger" and "mecha")
- Fate/EXTRA Last Encore (Though truthfully... I wanted female Hakuno and Tamao )
Will Check Out
- Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho/ A Place Further Than the Universe
- Grancrest Senki (author of Lodoss Wars? Sign me up!)
- Kokkoku (I will admit that the premise of this one is definitely interesting).
- Basilisk ~Ouka Ninpouchou~
- Hakumei to Mikochi (hey, I liked Ghibli's take on the borrowers. Not going to object to more of the same).
- BEATLESS (sci-fi with solid pedigree. Sold!)
Maybe
- Toji no Miko
- citrus (While I'm all for some yuri Erica Friedman's rather scathing reviews have me approaching with mixed feelings. While our opinions don't always line up there's enough overlap for me to be cautious).
- Slow Start (The premise sounds rather interesting).
- Märchen Mädchen (it sounds like the kind of thing I might like but the description doesn't really grab my attention).
- Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku (I'm not opposed to isekai on principle. But I like to keep it to one or two per season and Overlord's already nabbed one spot).
And a special Other category.
- Violet Evergarden (This is why there's a special category. I'm going to watch it, but I prefer to do it legit as much as possible Which means I'll be waiting for Netflix on this one and that will be outside this season).
Just got an email from Netflix, Devilman Crybaby will be out next Friday, January 5th.
So Darling in the Franxx is gonna have a manga adaptation running parallel to it. Drawn by Yabuki Kentarou◊ (the Black Cat and To Love-Ru guy).
Ok now I am interested, Yabuki Kentaro's art is godly. Also is pretty telling what kind of show its going to be with him doing the manga.
It appears something in Pop Team Epic's contract allows for non-exclusivity, as Crunchyroll, Funimation (simuldub), and HIDIVE will be streaming it.
"A buddy is a buddy no matter how nutty."that's a relief...it's the only anime coming out this season, so it would be a shame if everyone missed out on it.
"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018I'm not sure how much I'd read into Yabuki doing the Franxx manga— these sort of promotional manga can get some weird artists. And the anime's promotional material has otherwise been pretty tame
Pop Team Epic is apparently a full-length anime and thus guaranteed not to resemble the manga in any but the most superficial way
For things that aren't upcoming, Yorimoi had a very solid first episode. Not amazing, but very well made all-around. Looks like it should be a good series

Junji Ito is not going to be as ever good as the books. The fact that the show won't allow the audience to pace their viewing of the story and the absence of the silence of being enamored by reading gonna kill off a lot of tension that only a manga can provide.
I don't even know anyone who would want an adaptation of his work. But hey, the work was popular enough to get an adaption.
Also Devil Man Crybaby is literally the only thing I like to watch. Something about Demon Mugen man... I like it.
I also can't wait for the Bishojo fan girls in the west who hasn't heard of devil man be utterly horrified by the ending.

Finally have airdates for everything. Though, really, with the last one being a noitaminA show it could have been reasonably worked out a while back. Dunno why noitaminA shows are always so late to announce their airdate when they nearly always start on the second thursday
Also, only lacking decent trailers for Pop Team Epic and Fate
