    Prologue
The World of Gamenterprise.

It is a world beyond our reality, and beyond several other realities. It is a world of floating nations, connected by the system of Terraportation, ruled over by CPUs, who are responsible to serve their nation in exchange for their belief in the form of Shares, the source of thier power. As of now, there are four. Planeptune, ruled over by Purple Heart, Lastation, ruled over by Black Heart, Lowee, ruled over by White Heart, and Leanbox, ruled over by Green Heart.

While the nations were once at war, these days were long past, as situations like the Rumors of Overlord Momus, the rise and fall of the Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime, and the attempted revival of a nation long thought destroyed, has caused the CPUs, as well as their sisters the Candidates, to band together to resolve these conflicts, entering an age of peace.

However, eras do not go on forever, as Gamenterprise entered the CPU Shift Period, where the people would start looking for new leaders to replace the old ones. They eventually found them in Gold Third, people with Gold Crystals similar to the CPU's Share Crystals, who managed to unexpectedly defeat the CPUs in an honest bout, and became the new rulers. Despite this, and even after some shenanigans, the CPUs and Gold Third become friends, and the CPUs, awakening to a new power, were set to return to their place as leaders once again.

However, one day, the CPUs left, and never came back. Then the Candidates and Gold Third, backed up by others, set out to find them. They too never returned.

While the world did not descend into anarchy, as the Oracles, longtime caretakers of the CPUs, stepped in to fill the vacuum, it did fall into a state of dormancy, as there was no longer any Share Energy being generated. After all, you can't support something not there, and as more and more people forgot about them, the more and more their shares faded. The world had entered a state the Oracles had all feared: Shutdown State, where all forms of productivity and innovation cease, the world becomes complacent, and very easy to take advantage of for unsavory individuals.

Left with no other choice, the Oracles scrape together a Hyper Share Crystal, a combination of a Gold Crystal and Share Crystal, with the remaining resources they. This, along with notes from various scientific minds, including the Candidate of Planeptune, Nepgear, lead to the creation of the "GACHA" system. A system, where, by syncing with a frequency randomly with the Hyper Share Crystal, they can call upon champions from other dimensions that exhibit the same frequency, in order to have them help gather shares to turn back on Gamenterprise. This plan may be heavily flawed, the Oracles admitted, but it might be the only chance they have to save it. And besides, what if people want to use this to affect other dimensions? This had to be done.

And so, the GACHA System was booted up, and from here on out, the fate of the dimension was left to chance.

It is a day, or night, or whatever time or place it is for you. You hear a voice in your head, albeit with lots of static. You look around, but the voice didn't seem to come from anywhere, or perhaps your used to voices like this. Either way, the voice had this to say:

"To those that can hear: We are the Oracles of Gamenterprise. If you are hearing this, it means we have been able to establish contact with you. We need your help. Our world is ending, for we have no one to lead, to promote growth. They have all disappeared. We need people to restore faith, if not back in our old leaders, then in a new generation of them. As well, we need to stop anyone who'd exploit this time for their own gain. Please, come here. We have need of you. It will not be easy, and we can only provide you a one-way trip. But, if you are able and willing, then join our cause."

You agree, be it intentionally or not, and the world starts slipping around you.

"Thank You." The voice said.

Welcome, hopefully future players, to Viraldimension Gacha, a roleplay based upon the Neptunia series, set in the new world of Gamenterprise, in the titular Viraldimension. It is a world that has lost it's leaders, the CPU's, Candidates, and even the recent Gold Third, all vanishing without a trace. Thus, with nothing to believe in, the people have lost faith in them, and the Share Crystals of the dimension dulling to grey as a result. As such, the dimension is in a state of "Shutdown", a stagnate age where the people have grown complacent, of which the dimension may have no hope of ever leaving from.

However, may is never a guarantee, unless it's the month. The Oracles, former caretakers of the CPU's and the current leaders of Gamenterprise in their absence, have pooled their resources together to the creation of the "GACHA" System, a device that can call forth those from other dimensions to lend aid to the Viraldimension. This is where your character, be it CPU or Maker, General or Gold Third, an interpretation of someone people here would know or a face no one's seen before, comes in. You have being called (and dragged here willingly or otherwise) in order to restore faith to the people, stop malevolent forces from taking advantage of the situation, and perhaps find the lost leaders and bring them home.

Or perhaps not. No one said the technology needed to pick up only the best and brightest, and Gacha's aren't exactly known for their reliability...

This game, plot wise, is set in an Alternate Universe branching very loosely off from Megadimension Neptunia VII, but This RP can be enjoyed without prior knowledge of any of the Neptunia series, as long as you have some video game knowledge. If you are new to Neptunia an OC is recommended. However, as some potential characters and plot points will likely spoil the plot of the games, and I will not stop those character submissions from being in, those that do really mind spoilers might want to sit this one out, not that Neptunia is known for its groundbreaking plot. This RP is also much more open-ended than some others, as it's up to the players how they want to gather shares, though I might throw a plotline every now and then for those who want to participate in it, and there might be some events that affect the world at large.

    Playable Character Types
  • CPU: Console Patron Unit. These characters are based on Video Game Consoles (Sega Genesis, Nintendo Wii, Play Station, etc.). They are responsible for leading the nations, and have access to a power known as Hard Drive Divinity, allowing them to access CPU form, marked by having Power Symbols in their eyes, added "Modules" of light-wing like things, and usually an older, more cybernetic look.
  • CPU Canidate: Usually a "Little Sister" to the CPUs, based around Handheld Systems (Nintendo DS, Sega Game Gear, etc.). They have abilities similar to that of CPU's, and tend to serve as a second in command, if not in command if available.
  • Gold Third: A Maker attuned with a Gold Crystal, allowing them to use powerful, golden add-on equipment known as Gold Form, based off Third Party Companies with a strong tie to a particular System, or made a lasting impact on the games industry (Capcom, Square Enix, Namco). Besides the obvious addition of armor and weapons, as opposed to a CPU's full transformation, a Gold Third member's eyes turn Gold in Gold Form. They may be able to lend their power to the CPUs later...
  • Maker: A normal citizen, compared to the other three above types, based of a Video Game Company (Idea Factory, Compile Heart, Cyber Connect 2). They can be just as powerful as a CPU, especially with the GACHA system, and they also have more variety in terms of transformations, left up to the player.
  • General: Another citizen group, this time based off a particular game or game series (Street Fighter, Tekken, Monster Hunter, etc.). They function similarly to Makers.
  • X-over: A character that does not follow suit to any of the types in thr traditional since, but there is something familiar about them...Characters here must be from Compile Heart or Idea Factory games, and refer to that game for details.

    Locations
  • Planeptune: The Land of Purple Progress, ruled by Purple Heart (SEGA). While all the nations in the dimension are futuristic in design, Planeptune is known for it's advance tech and infrastructure. Despite this, it's the nation that monsters attack the most It is home to the GACHA System.
  • Lastation: The Land of Black Regality, ruled by Black Heart (SONY). Steampunk, and often grey and smokey. The economic "Heart" of Gamenterprise.
  • Lowee: The Land of White Serenity, ruled by White Heart (Nintendo). Often cold and snowy, the place gives off a serene vibe, good for the place's focus on magic.
  • Leanbox: The Land of Green Pastures, ruled by Green Heart (Microsoft). The most agricultural of the lands, recent urbanization efforts lead it to being a mix of city and field. Besides Agriculture, has a military focus, and the rural parts of the nation can come off as almost straight from the middle ages.

Now, for the rules.

  • Make sure to read the Forum Guidelines, and the Roleplaying Guidelines, as they are in full effect here.
  • Basic RP etiquette should apply here. Basically, be respectful of those who you play with, respect the GM (though don't be afraid to ask about something your confused about or point out things that need fixing on my end), don't cause drama, don't godmod or be overpowered, and don't do anything drastic without people's permission. I don't think I need to go into too much detail about it other than don't be repulsive.
  • Please keep everything PG-13, at least in terms of being graphic. This is based on a T-rated game series, and the last thing I think anyone on the roleplay wants is to have it taken down by a mod for being too much for the forum. Yes, this means you, Plutia/Iris Heart players, be reasonable. We don't have to be super conservative (Neptunia is known for have quite a bit of fanservice, after all), but use common sense, and don't take anything too far in any direction.
  • Characters that are allowed in this RP include characters from a Neptunia Work (Cannon or Spin-Off, as well as the Animation), an AU of said characters (be it as simple as a storyline change or as large as a genre shift, and anything in between), or an OC. However, it has to be related to a Video Game Console, Video Game Company, or Video Game Series, or even an individual Video Game if you can justify it. Crossover Characters are also not allowed, except with other Idea Factory or Compile Heart games (As that ship's already sailed with the Card Game, which counts as an alternate universe), as well as Sega Hard Girls, because again, that's another universe. Expies of particular character of a work are allowed, but discouraged without some changes, as you are playing something based on the source itself. Get creative, and embrace your source!
    • This is not to say you can't play OCs based off video game adaptations of works from other mediums (i.e. the Batman Arkham Series, Dragon Ball Xenoverse), but make sure you keep the adaptation in mind while you make your character if you do down this path. I reserve the right to ask for a revision if you go too far off (near?) course and just practically ignore the adaptation for what it's adapted from. The only exception to this is the actual Neptunia anime, as that's (yet again) a separate universe.
    • You can not just make games, systems, or companies up for the sake of the RP. Vert/Green Heart not having a sister is a running gag for a reason, after all.
    • I also reserve the right to ask for adjustments if you miscatagorize your character type with the work they're based on (While I will not be too harsh on Gold Third vs. Maker, provided it's reasonable, and I question how you'd confuse a CPU or Candidate for a Maker or vice versa, This is more for those who try to make a Maker character that only focuses on one series that the company makes as opposed to the whole company, like if a Type-Moon Maker only focused on Fate, ignoring stuff like Tsukihime, which in that case I'd ask you to change it to a Fate General). This is more to keep everything organized for future sign-ups.
    • We also won't be playing Reporters (Characters based on Gaming Media Outlets) here, as that could open a can of worms that's better left closed. (This can be overturned if there is a demand for it).
    • You are allowed to do your own OC interpretation of Makers and Generals that share a theme with a cannon self (i.e. you can have a Monster Hunter-themed OC, even though there is a character with that theme in the games). I'd shy away from OC CPUs or Candidates that share a theme with a canon one, as that might be awkward to handle given how they're the leaders of nations, but I'll allow them in because I'm also very willing to be proven wrong on that front. Or perhaps the awkwardness is the point of you doing one. There is a Google Document with the themes used by the series up to Cyberdimension, as well as other people's themes to either give you ideas or to steer you away from repeating something, depending on what kind of player you are. It can be found here.
  • You may not mix and match character types (i.e. You can't be both a CPU and a Gold Third at the same time. One or the other).
  • To start, there shall have a two-character limit, though you may swap out if you wish. I will determine case-by-case if your ready for a third.
  • For Balance, like most RP's of this style, all characters should adhere to a Super Weight Limit of 3. Despite how the races folder and cannon may have made it out, no one Character Type is more powerful than another, they just have different transformations and roles in the series. Feel free to adjust anything that needs balancing.
    • I will not allow a player character to have mental effects like Mind Control, Triggering Repressed Memories, forcing someone into amnesia, putting someone in a Lotus-Eater Machine, and so on, as that would break the RP if you could force people to change their beliefs or memories to gain shares. If you want to do a plotline around that, contact me. Time manipulation (unless reasonable, a la Overwatch's Tracer) and Reality Warping are also likely to be asked to be outright removed.
  • I'm aiming for a tone similar to that of Hyperdimension Neptuniamk 2 and it's remake, That is, kinda dark undertones, as this is a world on its last legs, but also still light enough to have the fluffy shenanigans Neptunia is known for. Try not to shift to hard in either direction, especially towards the dark end. If it makes mk2's worst ending (which even the designers said was too dark) look restrained, there might be something wrong. Not that I'm putting a ban on characters with an edge, just don't be unironically cringy, and make sure everything fits the whole PG-13 constant.
  • In terms of making your own plots here, I'll allow that but be reasonable. We don't need the world being doomed every Thursday. Contact me to go over a plotline before enacting it, either via PM or in Chat.
  • In terms of player characters with prior relationships to other player characters before being pulled by the GACHA, if you pick a Neptunia Work Character or an X-Over with little to no alteration, you keep your prior relationships from that cannon, for better or worse. For AU, up to the AU (if it's even possible) and the player who originated the AU's consent, as well as the other members (if there are any) to be generally agreeable. For OCs, I will allow two or more OCs played by different people to be link, with all of their players' consent and a general plan of how they interacted that they all would agree on. This is to avoid any characters from being yanked around by another's backstory unless they are agreeable to it, or vice versa.
  • We will have a Skype Chat for the RP. It's recommended you use it, as that's the easiest way to contact me and fellow players.

With that out of the way, here are the sign-ups.

    Sign Up Template
  • Name: Everyone has one. Put it here. As well, put your CPU name ([Color] Heart, cannon has used Purple, Iris, Orange (all Planeptune), Black (Lastation), White (Lowee), Green (Leanbox), and Yellow), Canidate name ([Color] Sister, only Purple, White, and Black have been used), or Gold Third Name ([First Letter of First Name]-Sha), if you are playing that type of character.
  • Character Type: What kind of character from the Playable Races are you playing?
  • Basis: What is company, game series, game, or console is your character based on?
  • Universe: Which dimension is your character being pulled from?
    • If it's an AU of an existing character, please detail the basic changes to the universe. It doesn't have to be elaborate, but enough to get the general gist. Fancy name is optional but encouraged.
    • If you are playing an OC, you can just write Original here, or you can be more detailed if you want.
    • If you are playing a CPU without an official nation, if you want to, detail your nation here as well. There may be a use for it down the line.
  • Appearance: How does you character look, both transformed and not transformed? Pictures or Descriptions will be fine. Put what gender you'll be playing as well.
  • Personality: How does your character act? What are their likes and dislikes? If there are differences between their transformed and normal personalities, detail them here.
  • Backstory: Before getting called, what has your character's life been like? I'm not looking for a publishable biography, just enough to understand your character.
  • Weapon and Equipment (Normal): What weapon do you fight with in your human form, if any at all? If it's a gimmicky weapon (i.e. Something that wouldn't be out of place in RWBY or a Trick Weapon from Bloodborne), or something fictitious in nature, describe it. Keep the Super Weight Limit in mind.
  • Powers and Talents (Normal:) What can your character do that others can't (besides transform)? From being a skilled blacksmith or idol to having high speed and strength to being able to use magic, put these skill here. Again, make sure to not go overboard.
  • Transformation: Every character type here has the ability to transform. The CPU and Candidates can use HDD, Gold Third has access to Gold Form, and Makers and Generals can "Awaken", or pull off something similar, depending on what the player wants. The only thing I ask is for now, one transformation per character. Makers and Generals who don't want to bother transforming can have access to a Generic "Awakening" that just boosts their abilities. Put down the conditions for transforming here, be it energy consumption, purging armor, a transfomationtrinket, etc.
    • CPUs and Gold Third need energy to use it, and if they are knocked out, infected with a virus, or are cut off from the Crystal somehow, they revert, the latter two not allowing them to return to that form until the issues are resolved.
  • Weapons and Equipment (Transformed): Same as (Normal), use this if your changing weapons and equipment between forms. If not, just write "Same as Normal", or an equivalent.
  • Powers and Talents (Transformed): Again, same as (Normal). Tell me what Powers and Talents you are carrying over from human mode, if and how they change while transformed, and add any new ones.
  • Other Notes (Optional): Put here anything else you need or want to put down. Maybe you have questions or concerns about this, or you want to mention something about your character that can't be normally put here, or you want to list the differences between your AU character and Cannon. Put that kind of stuff here.

Don't be afraid to come to me with any questions, and enjoy the game.

  • Name: Varvara (Last Gambit)
  • Character Type: General
  • Basis: Armored Core
  • Universe: Original
  • Gender: F
  • Appearance:
  • Personality: Rather desilusioned about her job by now - but always eager to drink with others to have a good time. Now that she's in Lastation she is in full on explorer mode, seeing all of this as one giant adventure. Being naturally curious - sometimes to a fault - certainly helps this.
  • Backstory: Varvara studied computer science, hoping to get a job at a big game company - after all what would be better than getting paid to programm games - even better yet playtest them, in the end she actually managed to get a job with From Software, who were involved in her favorite video game franchise: Armored Core. Yet rather soon she discovered being programmer in such a company is nothing like TV wants to make one believe, rather it's a job on the verge between always hectic and boring. At the moment when she was sucked in by the GACHA system she was currently in the process of building a modell of her personal NEXT, just being in the process of putting the last part onto the frame - in that state she was sucked into the world, landing in Planeptune and from there (with much squeeing and general cheering) went to Lastation. Somewhere on the way she got into a fight, noticing how the modell she had built was sucked into the world with her - even the unfinished paintjob included.
  • Weapon and Equipment:
  • Powers and Talents:
    • Normal:
      • Good shot: Can handle her way way around a gun good enough to not be a hindrance at least.
    • Transformed:
      • Improvisation skills: Eventhough her NEXT is rather durable Varvara knows it's not invincible, she's very much adept at getting as much out of the machine as possible, even when quite damaged.
  • Transformation: Varvara calls down her NEXT - albeit in a shrunken version. The whole thing has a time limit of maybe ten minutes. In that version she has drastically increased stats.
  • Other Notes (Optional):

Two questions:

  1. How crazy can we get with the backstory? Is it limited to being an average joe/jane from a "mundane" world, or can we get crazier with it?
  2. What about video game "series" that, so far, have only consisted of one game? Is that acceptable, or should it be a full series? Never mind; didn't see that it could also be one game.

@Sergey_Smirnov Armored Core... Not a series I expected to be the first I'd see. Anyways, I do know of it, and enjoy it. I will ask for the NEXT/LYNX to be sized down to a reasonable size (something that isn't building size, more the size of a power loader or a tank). Otherwise, you definitely have a start.

@Yomegami As long as it doesn't go too overboard to the point of being too edgy or too over the top, feel free to go nuts with the backstory.

!!WARNING!! - EDGE ALERT - !!WARNING!!

  • Name: Fran (pronounced more like Frän)
  • Character Type: Maker
  • Basis: From Software
  • Universe: Basically there's a place somewhere else with a lot of biomechanical spooky shit going down, lots of grim darkness, except that there's a lot of cute girls too and they're also participating in the spooky shit.
  • Appearance: This friendly-looking anime girl. When the spooky xeno-eel thing isn't floating around it tends to look like this pin in her hair.
  • Personality: Cryptic and very strange. First thing to note is that she has a strong tendency to go around and talk about terrible-sounding events and people that nobody has ever heard of, with the expectation that you'll get it, like that one episode of Star Trek: TNG. Going by her, wherever she comes from is a place with a rich history, but she won't expand on it at all.
    • Fran also likes fighting, and winning, and also losing too. Like, she happens to enjoy the sensation of victory and defeat just about the same, and that can come across as a little weird. Seems to enjoy rubbing the scent of victory in losers' faces a little too much. Oftentimes she comes across as cold and spiteful towards people, and that's true. She doesn't like other people. Despite that, she does group activities often, because winning and losing mean nothing when it's just yourself!
      • There exists a secret side to Fran that few people know about, and that is: mecha otaku. She doesn't hide it all all, she's rather open with her love of the genre with everyone. It's just that, back home, everyone expects her to be "that violent girl with the demonic darkness and the blood" and stuff, so nobody's willing to believe that she actually enjoys watching children's cartoons about robots fighting. Doesn't like cute things.
  • Backstory: Somewhere, out in the vast vastness of the Nepiverse, there exists a corner of reality that's very poorly lit. Fran hails from there, one of the few living souls to have lived and thrived in that environment...but at the same time, has she been corrupted by darkness? She's been tasked by the king of the Lost Regency to go out in the field and kill the terrible beasts that eternally torment the few people left alive. From the Final Crow, a great bird of terrible power, to the Mercury Dog, said to have skin of quicksilver, she's gone out and at least managed to convince them to fuck off by beating their asses. They tend to pop up again even if killed, anyway, so it's kinda pointless. In another timeline's narrative, she'd be the villain in a world of unicorns and friendly rabbits, but here, she might as well be a noble demon. Let the stories of her bloody heroics echo from the Shadow Tower to the distant Poka Poka Airou village!
  • Weapon and Equipment (Normal): Aside from having pointy claws that are pretty good at poking people, she has that not-a-xenomorph thing. Normally hidden on her person as a hairclip, it can transform and start messing up dudes. It can swim through the air like an eel and is pretty good at biting people, and she can specifically command it with her hands. It can be controlled within 10 feet of herself, and can act in general about 50 feet away. Either working like a floating pointy whip or held like a very large club, it's very versatile, but lacks some of the oomph of more dedicated weapons platforms. Flies at about 19mph.
  • Powers and Talents (Normal):
    • Technically part robot?: Like most people, part of her body is made of a thick, metallic chitin and operates like cybernetics instead of boring old flesh. This means that she's a little harder to stab in her arms than in the rest of her soft, pliable body.
    • Mechcyclopedia: As stated elsewhere, she has an omnipotent understanding of shows with giant robots in them. With all the grim darkness going on around her, it's the only hobby she has time to devote herself towards.
  • Transformation: Phase II: If you can manage to get her angry enough, and wear her down to a certain point...well, to make it clear, let's do a little hypothetical thought exercise here. If she happened to have a health bar that, let's pretend, would cause her to die if she hit 0%, then at the metaphorical 50% range, she'd drastically change appearance and gain an entirely new fighting style. Healing her to full, getting her to calm down properly, or just letting it run out will return her to normal.
  • Weapons and Equipment (Transformed): Her xenosnake thing fuses into her to provide a core that drives her armored form, so now she relies entirely on clawing people to death and bonking them in the head with her newfound shield.
  • Powers and Talents (Transformed): Turning into this form basically makes her lose any kind of humanity and corrupts her soul, so she loses any kind of love for anime and other, less important, human characteristics.
    • Now Fully Robot???: Now she's made entirely of a thick, metallic chitin! She's considerably stronger and faster too, able to move around on the ground by boosting with jets of superheated air, 3 times in quick succession, each going 5 feet, and with about 10 seconds recharge time. Completely lacks any form of ranged attack, though.
    • Hollowed Out: Because life wouldn't be the same without the ever-present spectre of corruption, the longer and more often she uses this form, the more likely that she'll get stuck in it. Fran's fully aware of this. Expect lots of brooding and "I don't need your help" when this comes up.
  • Other Notes: You might be wondering, how would mecha anime be continually made in a gothic, biomechanical, gigerian dystopia where the average person is slowly turning into a monster themselves? Where's the market for that when most otaku would have died at the hands of some gnarled, twisted thing? The answer is simple: she is the sole consumer and funder of all anime in her world. The local king tends to pay her quite handsomely, as you might imagine.

@Sanojutsu that would be a CPU, as it's their main "Console", with their handheld being the 3DS

@wikkit Well, that was a bit edgy, but not enough to warrant you toning it down (It's actually very similar to Zerodimension from VII).

On the other hand, there are a few things that need adjusting. First, the not-xenomorph pin. There should be a radius, diameter, etc. where she can command it through the air before it returns to her, as well as a speed limit for it's flight. As well, it will not be allowed to go through very small gaps.

For her transformed form, be reasonable with the dashes. Give it a range and a use limit. Also going to presume It's a reasonable size (Not too big).

Otherwise, just don't go too crazy with anything and you'll be good to go.

To Boomer: Thank you, that was exactly the sweetspot of dumb edginess I was aiming for.

It will only be able to be controlled within 10 feet of herself, and it can move about 50 feet away uncontrolled. I am very bad at estimating numbers, so let's say that it flies at about the speed of the average angry dog, which google gives me as 19MPH. Considering its front end is larger than her head, fitting into small spaces isn't going to happen.

Phase 2 should allow for, say, 3 dashes in quick succession, each moving about 5 feet, so let's go with 15 feet in one go. She's at the taller end of 6 feet in this form.

  • Name: Sophie Guillory
  • Character Type: General
  • Basis: Xenoblade
  • Universe: Original
    • To elaborate: Sophie's world has been controlled by an organization known as the Bleaksteel for twenty years (which was before she was even born). They maintain their control simply by having more advanced technology by everyone else by any means necessary, and especially through their control of powerful and ancient weapons.
  • Appearance: Sophie is female, and appears to be around fifteen years old. She's French/Korean in ethnicity, and is rather short (around 4'9'') though otherwise averagely built for someone her age. She has straight brown hair cut in a bob, as well as brown eyes. She's usually wearing some combination of a t-shirt, jean skirt, and sneakers. She's also usually wearing a black hairband.
  • Personality:
    • Sophie, for the most part, is a relatively nice girl. She's usually happy enough to go out of her way to help others, sometimes to the point of hurting herself. She likes to look on the brighter side of things, or at least she tries to. She greatly dislikes the idea of hurting others, and refuses to do so even when such a thing might be warranted.
    • She, however, has a massive lack of self-esteem and confidence. She's somewhat convinced she can't do anything right, and as a result she can be a bit of a doormat. If something goes wrong she's very quick to blame herself, even if she wasn't even directly at fault. While hardly stupid, she's rather Book Dumb and at times can come off as a klutz or a ditz. She also gets embarrassed really easily.
    • She's fairly desperate to try and do something with herself, and thus willingly accepts such opportunities.
  • Backstory:
    • Sophie's hometown formed a non-aggression pact with the Bleaksteel, which meant the Bleaksteel would leave the town be so long as they cooperated when asked. As a result most of Sophie's life was relatively peaceful, if a little restricted since the Bleaksteel weren't about to accept challengers to their rule.
    • Sophie might had never been anything special, if it weren't for her father Hubert. Hubert managed to come into possession of a powerful sword, the only one of a group of related weapons that had not fallen into the Bleaksteel's possession. He naturally used it to fight against the Bleaksteel, giving hope to the numerous resistance movements.
    • Sophie almost never saw him, but nevertheless the fact her father was a war hero tended to increase people's expectations of her. She tried her best to meet them, but sadly it seemed that no matter what she did she couldn't manage anything more than average at best. Years of failed attempts, coupled with people constantly telling her they expected more out of Hubert's daughter, didn't exactly help her self-esteem at all.
    • Then, when Sophie was fourteen, Hubert lead a charge against the Bleaksteel's home base. While it did manage to hinder the Bleaksteel, ultimately it failed to destroy them. In fact, the battle quickly turned against the resistance. Hubert only managed to keep it from becoming a complete disaster at the cost of his life.
    • Fortunately, his sword was recovered. As his only living descendant, ownership of the blade passed down to Sophie. At first, she was a little reluctant to use it, but because she wasn't having much success with anything else, she decided to take it up and learn how to use it. Interestingly, the blade bent itself to fit its new master, becoming a gauntlet that fit around her left hand.
    • A year after the fact, Sophie's not entirely confident she can use her newfound gift to its fullest extent and sometimes finds it completely embarrassing to use (her transformed outfit's somewhat skimpy). Nevertheless, with the chance the Bleaksteel have her in their sights, she continues to try...completely unaware she's about to embark on a different sort of adventure.
  • Weapon and Equipment (Normal): Absolutely nothing of note. Sophie wasn't exactly a fighter to begin with.
  • Powers and Talents (Normal): Despite what she believes, Sophie does have a few talents worth noting. For one, she's fairly good at reading faces and noticing things that others might not. She also has a rather nice singing voice, and does have a fair bit of practice at making use of it.
  • Transformation:
    • While she's transformed, Sophie's outfit becomes mostly mechanical. Her ears are covered (or perhaps replaced) by a white-and-gold construct that resembles a headset that goes around the back of her head. Her right arm becomes white and turquoise, and completely mechanical until the middle of her upper arm. The fingers on said hand also become sharp. Meanwhile, her legs up until the thighs also become mechanical and of similar coloration, with the feet bearing resemblance to high heels. Her torso becomes covered in high-tech armor that covers about as much as a one-piece swimsuit, with a yellow, upside-down triangle on her chest just above her breasts. Finally, her hair becomes significantly longer and fans out the further down her back it goes (ultimately looking something like this).
    • She transforms via the red, mechanical-looking gauntlet that covers her left hand and forearm, with a circular glass window on the back of her hand. She can either mentally will this gauntlet to transform, or it'll happen automatically when she's in danger. It remains a constant between her normal and transformed selves.
  • Weapons and Equipment (Transformed): Sophie's gauntlet grants her the use of a set of special abilities while she's transformed. When she's about to use one, the window on the back of her gauntlet will flash a kanji symbol, giving some warning to the observant. Once used, her gauntlet will need a brief period of time to recharge before she can use it again.
    • Buster: Extends a white-blue laser blade roughly twice her height in length from her hand. It can cut through most things a normal blade can, and some things a normal blade can't (like insufficiently thick plate armor, for instance). She can also slam it on the ground to release a short-ranged shock wave (radius is roughly between five and ten feet, depending on how much force Sophie puts into it).
    • Enchant: When used, it grants Sophie and anyone she wishes to share it with nearby increased strength and armor-piecing abilities for a brief period of time.
    • Shield: A defensive art with two variants. The first variant will greatly reduce the damage of an incoming attack (or completely block it if the attack is weak enough), but will immediately vanish afterwards. While it usually prevents lethal damage, if the attack's strong enough it'll still hurt, and multiple-hit attacks will break the shield on the first hit. The second variant isn't as powerful, in that it only reduces incoming damage and isn't a complete safeguard against lethal injury, but doesn't wear off after an attack. Both variants only last a brief amount of time before vanishing. Again, the area of effect includes Sophie herself and anyone nearby she wishes to share it with.
    • Speed: Sophie or anyone she wishes to cast this one will become faster for a short period time, increasing their ability to dodge incoming attacks.
  • Powers and Talents (Transformed):
    • Sophie's a bit stronger and tougher while transformed. While she's not capable of shattering a mountain with a single punch (as an exaggerated example) or completely invincible, something like throwing a boulder twice her size or surviving getting hit by a truck are both doable.
    • Limited Future Sight: Sophie can see a couple of seconds into the future. This gives her something of an edge in combat as she'll know what her opponent's doing a little while before they actually do it. That being said, knowing what's about to happen isn't quite the same thing as "being able to do anything about it." She's still limited by things such as her own reaction times. She also doesn't have control over when she gets visions (read: invoking this is left to the GM/whoever happens to be running any plotline Sophie's involved in).
    • Tele-communication: Provided she has a network to use, Sophie can use her headset to keep contact with others using similar devices over long distances.
    • Final Cross: Sophie can fire a barrage of red lasers from the triangle on her chest. They hit a fan-shaped area in front of her with an effective range of fifteen to twenty five feet as well as around Sophie's height, and hit with enough force to knock anything that isn't sufficiently stable off its feet. It's more effective at close range. As with her gauntlet abilities, it takes her a while to recharge this ability after using it.
  • Other Notes (Optional):
    • Sophie's actually an OC of mine I created for an original story and adapted for this RP. If this isn't acceptable, then I'll be happy to come up with something else.
    • As an extension of the above, Sophie's personality isn't quite a good representation of Xenoblade's central themes and whatnot. I was planning on possibly having her grow into those as the RP went on, again if it's acceptable.
    • Technically speaking, there's a few other similarly named games to Xenoblade (particularly Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade Chronicles X) that could be considered part of the same series. However, I haven't played those games and thus am not super familiar with them, and further the connections between them and Xenoblade are largely thematic. As such I decided to just base Sophie on Xenoblade rather than all of them.

Choosing a crossover character from other Idea Factory/Compile Heart games... I was just wondering if Trinity Universe is a valid choice?

Co-Developed by Idea Factory, NIS, and Fist Corperation, published by NIS in US and Idea Factory in Japan. It's a crossover game so several characters wouldn't belong here being from Disgaea or Atlier, but Kanata is original to the game and main character of his route.

Triva: Hyperdiemsnion Neptunia's original engine was used for Trinity Universe first. It... worked a lot better with how TU set it up.

@Sanojutsu, You don't have to be part of the big four to be a CPU or Candidate. You can do any system (That's why I mentioned in the Universe section to describe your nation if you want to), just make sure to label correctly and think into it.

That being said, I have heard that you have a tendency to join games and then not post for them. I'm not going to say you can't join, but I will say if your going to sign-up and then post infrequently if at all, I would not recommend even signing up, and definitely not as a CPU or Candidate. There are probably other people who have the same ideas you do, and I hate to see that idea claimed without being used. If you are going to do this, I do want to see some effort to get in posts for the RP, otherwise it's not worth it. I will consider you inactive if you don't post at least somewhat frequently.

@wikkit, I believe that's fair enough. Fran is accepted as a Maker of From Software. I'll get you into the Skye conversation soonish.

@Yomegami, Taking an OC and transferring it here is a bit of a risky move. However, I did play (not fully) Xenoblade Chronicles, and you did hit close enough to the mark that they can qualify as a general.

That being said, a few things.

I should mention Gamenterpise isn't Earth, so some of her allusions to that will likely fly over some of the character's heads. Just warning you, you don't need to change that.

Everything up to transformation is okay.

I presume you need the gauntlet to transform or use powers.

I presume you also know not to go crazy with these powers. This is a blanket statement throughout the whole set.

For things that need to change, Buster's Shockwave needs to have a range limit. Going to presume it is about as long as the Monado's buster.

Shield's "Absolute" Defense mode (which I presume is a buff like in game) Should work on Kingdom Hearts's Second Chance logic, where they are only able to absorb one blow, even if what they are hit by has more than one attack (i.e. You can only null one missile out of a salvo, or take one hit of a mult-hit laser). You also can't go too far with said null (Even if you null an explosion, your still probably going to get banged up a bit). Again, be reasonable here.

And now Limited Future Sight. This is a tough one. On one hand, this can be very overpowered in the wrong hands, and hard to incorporate into a RP setting. On the other hand, this mechanic is at the core of Xenoblade Chronicles, and it's hard to represent the game without it. Unless you have a good way to balance it yourself, it may be best to leave when the visions come up to the GM (or G Ms if we get to that point). Any way, as this ability is in the transformed section, it can only be used when transformed, correct?

Effective range on Last Cross would also be appreciated. I presume it's more effective at close range like a shotgun.

Lastly, not a balance thing, but personal opinions: Xenogears is good for the little I've played of it, though very different than Blade, never played Xenosaga, and Xenoblade Chronicles X is one of my favorite Wii U games, despite some design flaws (Most notably not being able to drop story or affinity missions and only being able to carry one at a time). Whenever it's a worthy followup to the original depends on the player (they are very different). Good idea to limit yourself to one game on this front, as they are all very different.

@Stephan Reiken, Trinity Universe is fine. Double fine, even, as Macaroon appears as a boss in the Original Hyperdimension Neptunia. You can also play the Original Characters for Cross Edge. I will ask that no one uses crossover characters that don't belong to Idea Factory from these games, however.

Sophie needs to be transformed to use any of her powers, be it use a gauntlet ability or the future sight; in her normal form she's nothing special. As for specific abilities she needs the gauntlet to do the abilities listed alongside it, though anything listed Also, I'm willing to accept that not everyone's going to understand her situation (and vice-versa). Such things are what hijinx are made of. tongue

Fully understood on showing restraint. I'm not one to really go crazy anyway.

As for the other issues: For Buster I decided to put the sword's length at around twice Sophie's height (if I remember correctly its counterpart in Xenoblade is about three times Shulk's height) and gave the shockwave a five to ten foot radius. As for the stronger Shield variant, that bit about multi-hit attacks sounds reasonable and has been applied; I also decided to bring it down a little so that it merely prevents lethal damage rather than all damage altogether and can't entirely block stronger attacks.

I'm going to say Final Cross has an effective range of...fifteen to twenty five feet? Also that its vertical range is around Sophie's height. If I remember correctly, it covered an area a little taller than its user's height in Xenoblade proper. I don't think it had a damage variance based on range in Xenoblade proper, but I'm going to go ahead and add that here because it makes sense and helps with the balancing.

All of the above has been edited in.

I tried balancing the Future Sight in such that while she has it at her disposal, Sophie isn't omniscient and is limited by her reaction times and such. Just because she can see a punch coming doesn't always mean she'll always be able to block it. I could also add the stipulation that she can't control when she gets a vision (as I believe that's similar to how it worked in Xenoblade), so while it could help her prevent other people or herself from dying it won't let her bull-arg- her way out of a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown or suchlike. If that's not sufficient, I'm perfectly fine leaving it up to GM discretion.

This hasn't been edited in yet; I'd rather see what you have to say about it first.

@thestonedog78, You can go any direction you want with this. You can probably get away with a character based off the Pokemon Series (One game ideas are mostly for things like Final Fantasy or the Xeno- Games), but if you want to focus on one game go on right ahead.

Having seen your previous RP's, I feel like I should mention that most posts here are likely to be longer than your average We Are Our Avatars one. As well, make sure they are readable. Just wanted to bring those facts to your attention.

@Yomegami, Alright, adjustments so far are fair enough. As for Future Sight... It's probably best to leave the contents to the GM or whoever is running the enemy/quest, mostly because it's much easier to do that in a RP format than try to make it up yourself. You can ask to invoke one, but the parties involved (again, mostly the GM, quest runner, or whoever's playing who your fighting) must be agreeable to it. I know I may invoke one at certain moments. After that, you'll be approved.

@Boomer: I appreciate your concern, and you know what, I think you might be right. I don't have a great record in being consistent with R Ps, and I might have gotten too excited without considering whether or not I have the time to tend to another RP. I'll try to think things through more and lurk a little before expressing interest from now on. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. • Name: Kanata (Precursor Heart)
  • Character Type: X-Over
  • Basis: Trinity Universe
  • Universe: Netheruniverse/Hyperdimension (Original version)
    • Kanata is basically from a timeline where the Hyperdimension overwrote the Netheruniverse of Trinity Universe and was based upon the foundation of Netheruniverse. Kanata, the main character of Trinity Universe, has some attributes of a CPU and could be said to be the character whose template was used to derive CPU functionality. He would not have a nation on Gameindustri and few would have information on his true origins.
  • Appearance: Here Male
  • Personality: Kanata is a naive, fun-motivated person who wants nothing but to go on grand adventures. He doesn't really hold grudges and is very forgiving, wanting to just be friends. His naivety however, can make him gullible and often believes whatever he is told, though he isn't completely stupid. He loves to try new foods and new things. Having lived a very restricted childhood, Kanata values freedom of choice for everyone but still has a sense of responsibility for the effects his actions have even if unintended.
  • Backstory: Kanata was the Demon Dog King, in line to become one of the Demon God Gems to safeguard Empryia in the Netheruniverse from floating debris. Instead of doing this, he escaped from this duty with his servant Tsubaki and together they sought adventure and a way to save Empyria without turning into a Demon God Gem. He gathered many friends along the way and eventually found a substitute to the Demon God Gem and became ruler of the Netheruniverse.
  • Weapon and Equipment: Kanata has a buster sword sized sword. It has a single edge despite its size and is imbuned with Dog managraphics to toughen it and increase its power (and it lets off little dog images when it hits things with small barking sound effects). It otherwise doesn't have anything special to it, managraphics are not a special thing and could be applied to any weapon by a managraphics artist but that art was long lost with the Netheruniverse being overwritten.
  • Powers and Talents:
    • Precursor Heart - As a puesdo CPU, Kanata has the capacity to gather shares and use them as power like other CP Us. Having few options to use the power, he would have to empower his magic or the managraphics on his sword directly with shares.
    • Fire Magic - Kanata can form balls of fire or envelop his sword in fire for attacks all of which explode on impact. He can have some versatility in this, throwing fireballs in curves and focusing for larger more powerful fireballs, however they have a range limit of 20 meters at which point they explode automatically.
    • Demon King - A strong being, Kanata boasts exceptional all around power/speed and his naturally tough demon body allows him to not wear armor of any kind in favor of mobility.

  • Other Notes: Kanata does not transform, he has no HDD mostly because he is a CPU that doesn't actually represent a console. Him being a CPU is a nod towards how the game engine for the original Hyperdimension Neptunia was first used by Trinity Universe. This at times will put him at a large disadvantage in combat, but I would suggest he generally has the advantage in untransformed combat and harness share power for one use big attacks.

    • As a note Kanata would not be actively seeking out shares to use. At the start he wouldn't even know what they are and would basically conclude its a form of magical power. His potential to gather and use shares does represent a threat to other CP Us who would not appreciate another potential rival. His general actions, seeking adventure, can earn him shares unintentionally. But if his servant Tsubaki were brought into the RP, she would actively seek shares for him (he would not be concerned) in her goal to make him the strongest (such that she could manipulate him and hold the real power while having him the figurehead)

    • Also as a note, Rizelea from TU while also a main character probably wouldn't hold the same puesdo-CPU position. At least for the purposes of this AU/X-Over, Kanata was both ruler of the entire universe and could transform to protect it (which in the end he was willing to given no other choice) but that transformation was permanent. So it makes some sense.

@Sanojutsu Alright, will do! Good luck on your future endeavors.

@StephanReiken We did discuss this quite a bit in chat. Despite me not playing Trinity Universe, what I read on it makes it seem that everything pans out, and there really isn't too much else to go over, though I can give you the same statement I gave Yomegami with his Gauntlet Skills, don't go too crazy with any of your abilites and end up being too overpowered in the process (Even if I'm a bit more lax than some other RPs when it comes to it). Mostly, those explosions are more splash damage than actual kabooms, I presume.

Besides that, the only other thing to note is that Precursor Heart is strengthened with shares, or people that believe and support you specifically. You can't exactly "take" another's shares, and your boosts are directly proportional to shares, which you can gain or lose. He seems to function more as a Share Crystal than a CPU proper, which is definitely a thing, and he's CPU-likeness comes in applying it.

Besides that, this is going to be interesting, given the situation Viraldimension faces. Just make sure to keep everything in check, maybe edit a bit of my spiel and clarification on Fire Magic's explosions in, and Kanata is accepted as an X-Over from Trinity Universe.

Aye, well actual explosions are intended but in a video game sense. That it explodes isn't an inherent indicator of power. The pop from a firecracker or even those little popper things you throw to the ground are still explosions :P. It is for splash damage, or sometimes making a near miss hit anyway if it hits the wall at their back with the splash damage going over them.
