This is how it goes, One Player posts an "Experiment" for a vault to be built, The next then posts the results, and then THEIR experiment and so on.

Example:

Bob:

TEST: Vault Population at 200, Have the Vault's Water Supply be contaminated with high levels of Caffeine.

Lisa:

RESULT: At first the subjects were preforming with more efficiency than usual, but by day 32 things kinda went to hell as people started overdosing on the Caffeinated Water, resulting in numerous heart attacks, psychotic breaks, and insomnia.

TEST: Vault Population at 50, Have the Vault Door be able to close, but not open.

Get the Gist of it? I will start first.

TEST: Vault Population at 100, Have the Psychological testing always determine someone as insane, even if they are perfectly sane.

(this is the one and only bump i'm doing for this thread.)

RESULT: One of the dwellers used the psychological test upon discovering it would always yield a positive result for insanity on the Overseer, and took over the Vault. They then proceeded to use the Psychological test as a way of getting rid of anyone who opposed his power. This kept on until a rebellion threw the vault into chaos. Vault Population left vault at 29 in 30 years.

TEST: Vault Population 50, Everything is perfectly normal except that the toilets will never flush due to the sewage pipes being clogged with concrete.

RESULT: Some of the Dwellers start watching it after figuring out what the DV Ds were for. However some of the other dwellers believe that the Anime is Communist Propaganda. A war breaks out as people calling themselves the "Patriots" start attacking those who watched the anime. People who are neither Patriots nor Anime Watchers get caught in the crossfire. Vault Population left at 46 in 29 years with all Anime DV Ds destroyed.

TEST: Vault Population 50, All lightbulbs break after 5 weeks, Replacement bulbs do not work.

Results:Around one third of the vault population became "Weeaboos." This, along with a water shortage, has led to hygiene levels dropping.

Test: Vault Population 200. One person is randomly picked to be injected with spider DNA, and then they are released. After 7 days, Medical testing is performed on everyone.

[up][up] In five weeks, vault became extremely dark. One third of the population became grues and devoured the rest.

[up] A little girl was picked at random. Later testing revealed a spider like humanoid being in the kitchen, selling pastries. The people that played Undertale due to some built in computers died from shock and happiness.

Population: 100 People.

Test: Have all of the lights be powered by the toilets.

RESULT: After three weeks, A massive bar fight took place in the entire vault, killing 43 people. As soon as one individual sobered up, they found a way to filter out the alcohol. After everyone sobered up, their hangovers were severe enough for almost everyone to end their own lives due to not enough filtered water to go around, the survivors went straight back to drinking. All 54 survivors suffers from extreme alcoholism.

TEST: Population 250, the Vault's Database contains the entirety of TV Tropes, everyone has access to a computer with connection to the database.

Result: The entire population becomes so Meta, they begin to view relay life as a piece of media to be dissected. They become so disillusioned, that they forget to stave off radiation and generate power, and they all eventually die slow and anti-climactic deaths.

Test: In a vault of 24 diverse dwellers, give them all an incentive of 1,000,000 dollars to be the last dweller standing.

Result: Predictably, at least one of the dwellers is sufficiently greedy enough to start murdering the others, including those from cultures who don't value money or material possessions as much. Only after doing so and receiving his prize does he realise that the money is now completely worthless both in and out of the vault, due to the murder of everyone he could have bought stuff from and the collapse of society, respectively. He proceeds to commit suicide by bashing his head against a wall.

Test: In a vault with a large population, populate the lower levels even further with animals and set up the vault's internal government to revolve entirely around catching and training these animals to be used in fights with other trained animals, with the best 'trainers' being awarded badges, status, and the opportunity to eventually challenge the Overseer for his/her/their title.

Result: The overseer himself get defeated in a Curb-Stomp Battle and is now living in a capsule owned by a talking Deathclaw.

Test: A vault with 1 man and 999 sex dolls, the goal is to test how long the man can live without a real woman.

A farm, a generator, a water purifier, a breeding tank with edible Mirelurks, a Nuka Cola making kit, and a Deathclaw plush are provided for the man's basic needs. No weapons would be provided for the man in order to prevent him from escaping the vault.

RESULT: After approximately fourteen days of [REDACTED] the man began to 'converse' with the dolls. More days later, he was diagonosed insane by one of our practitioners.

By the end of the first month, he was dead from isolation.

TEST: Overpopulate one Vault, and fill it with people of conflicting political opinions. Rig the elections, and accuse a random dweller of rigging it every time.

This vault will contain only enough resources for 200 out of the 600 people in the vault.

Results: "Witch hunting" started after the first election. It continued for 4 more elections before one person had the Idea of establishing a communist government. The vault government was overthrown and communism became the main philosophy in the vault.

Test: Vault population 250. Build a room that is nearly impossible to get into, but it contains nothing.

Result: Due to Empty Room Psych, they spent at least a decade trying to dig open the room, upon realizing the room is literally empty, they are driven to despair and become the first things in the room: a horde of Feral Ghoul.

Test: A vault with an unarmed Brotherhood of Steel Paladin, 999 Ghouls and a month of food supply locked inside, he's told to marry one of them before they all turn Feral, or else he would never have a chance to reproduce and create a legacy for himself. The goal is to test whether he would marry a Ghoul and mate with them under desperation.

Result: Failure. The Paladin ended up simply rationing his food supply and preparing for a fight.

Test: Insert a growing population of four hundred men and women into a vault with numerous mechanical failures, a system that elected overseers based on whom was the most psychopathic and hedonistic, and inform them that outside the vault lies a greater threat.

Said threat can be The Enclave, The Legion, or one of the other numerous groups of hostiles. They will be given information on all of them, but not know the specific threat to the Vault.

The goal is to see if humans will comply to absurd orders and stay in a Vault, no matter what consequences.

RESULT: For the first two months it worked, with the civilians staying put based upon the rationale. Only after about a hundred of the vault dwellers died through absurd commands, often relating to the various mechanical frays, and often to the amusement of the overseers, there was a seed of discord sown which developed into a civil war between the Overseer loyalists and the rebellion. The overseer gets killed, and the bloodthirsty rebels either executed or exiled whichever loyalists survive. Those who were exiled were either killed by hostile factions, trying their best but forgetting the vital weaknesses given to them since the civil war had consumed their minds. Conditions inside the vault further deteriorated since the new overseers became far less stable than they started, and within another month after the end of the war, everyone died.

EXPERIMENT: Two hundred men, women and children. The only consumables present and allowed are bottles of water and tins of Cram. Smuggling is punishable by death.

Test: A vault with 500 men and 500 women, no food would be provided, only water and free electricity. They are told to run a People Farm and their only food source would be each other. The goal is to test how long the society can run by only breeding humans and eating each other.

Result: Failure. For some reason, most people actually had morals, unlike whomever proposed this test. They refused to eat each other and attempted to escape the vault. Some did remain, and attempt devouring and [REDACTED] but the population by that point was too low to sustain itself.

TEST: This vault is programmed to monitor all subjects, and records footage at all times, sending it to the Overseer.

After three generations of this, the computer is to aid an average dweller into 'discovering' this.

The goal is to see if the dwellers prioritize personal freedoms over security.

RESULT: Basically like any other control group. By the time the fallout subsided, the vault opened, its inhabitants attempting to repopulate the region, albeit with heavy casualties within days of setting foot outside.

Experiment: Five persons, a sociopathic computer as an overseer, the only food present is a large stockpile of canned peaches in a distant coldroom. No weapons or means of opening said cans.

RESULT: The Courser and the Enclave commander agree'd to go through with it, however the Legionary had no fear of death and immediately killed himself, detonating the collars of everyone else. When word got out about this to the Legion, he was praised as a hero.

RESULT: Everyone turns into Feral Ghouls with less than a week.

TEST: A vault 100 men in diving suits and too much fresh water. In other words, they live in an underwater environment entirely flooded with drinkable water. Oxygen tanks are weekly mailed and edible fish are bred in this underwater vault. The goal is to test how long they can live in water 24/7 like a fish.
