Kamen Rider Gaim, as well. Yooooo!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.DON'T SAY NO JUST LIVE MORE!
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterThat sounds like something Friedrich Nietzsche would say!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Hm. I see no recommendations for Big O yet. This confuses me.
but HOW?I think there were several.
Big O is filler-ish and full of plot holes and gaps and weirderies.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Do timeskips count? If so you have the second half of Gurren Lagann.
The first half of the show was a very sweet ride. The second was, eh...
Kurosagi. The main protagonist is 21 and dropped out of school since he didn't care about that anymore after what happened in his backstory. All the characters focused on are either college age or older.

Improving as an author, one video at a time.Nobody mentioned Zetman, where most of the plot happens with the characters college-aged.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.As is the Super Sonico anime.
Watch SymphogearThere's also Dendrobates. The protagonist is working as a police officers, and most of the featured characters are adults - middle-aged, even.
There is of course the classic 80's series known as Dirty Pair. Both the main protagonist Kei and Yuri are 19.

Award-winning manga that does NOT feature high-school or younger protagonists:
- Azumi
- Berserk
- "Bokko" by Hideki Mori
- "The Silent Service" by Kaiji Kawaguchi
- "Futatabi" by Kentaro Miura
- Gallery Fake
- Monster
- Oishinbo
- Souten Kouro
- Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
Nobody mentioned Mobile Fighter G Gundam?
(Or, on that note, most of the UC OVA works, like 0083 and 08th MST.)

"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelMan, I can't believe I neglected to mention YKK, it's right up there as one of my top manga. Although... oh, right, when I recommended the manga I did on page 1, I remembered to take into consideration Handle's tastes; I'm not sure if Iyashikei is up his alley or not.
Still, I'd strongly recommend it to everyone, along every other manga the author has made (Kabu no Isaki, PositioN, and the currently running Kotonoba Drive).
The All You Need Is Kill manga based on the light novel Edge of Tomorrow is adapting has a protag who's an army recruit in his 20s. The female co-star is given the specific age of 22.
Working on a manga. With pictures! All feedback welcome!Planetes has not been mentioned.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableFairy Tail counts.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceSpace Battleship Yamato 2199 (and by extension the original but I say go for the re-make). Again some of the characters are in their late teens but past high school age and treated as adults as far as the plot is concerned.
Toriko the 2 main characters are 25 at the start of the series.
You look happy, I can change that if you want.Specifically at the start?
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Yup, and there's not a school in sight. Both of the main protagonists are professionals in what they do at the start of the series, even if they're very far from the strongest or most skilled in the setting.
The Hollywood Tactics and generally terrible warrior ethics really really turned me off that show, and I went for the remake first. I can deal with Values Dissonance and What An Idiot separately, but not when they happen concurrently...
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I am not sure if it was already mentioned here but Tokyo Ghoul has a college-age main character/protagonist, and his school life is rarely even touched upon all things considered. One of the other protagonists is a high school girl but her school life is barely brought up or shown either.

I read that as Hamtaro instead of Hamatora. Speaking of which, I'm sure not of the Ham-Hams are high schoolers.
