I can't say I can agree with the argument being made that CN having a schedule that provides a variety on content on their network is a bad thing. Nickelodeon got tons of flak for airing Sponge Bob to extremes, during the late 2000/early 2010s, and the networks ratings took a huge hit because of that (among other factors).

I'd also like to knock down the idea that people are complaining about these shows taking up huge chunks of the schedule focuses on the basis of a Nostalgia Filter. I may have largely grown up with CN during their 90s / early 2000s golden eras, but I'm not going to defend those eras for doubling / tripling down on certain shows for their schedules either (speaking under the assumption that did happen back in the day).

Wasn't very interested in Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!, but its cancellation makes me wonder if the other WBA shows have suffered the same fate. Wabbit wasn't exactly fantastic, but I really liked some of the ideas they said they were bringing into the second season (namely the episodes that had Daffy, with his crazy-era personality). Didn't watch much of Bunnicula, but it was okay, although I'm still not fond of some of the changes they made from the source material (Howard in particular). I could not care less about the Tom and Jerry Show if it got trashed, however.

[up]Reagarding the other Warner shows:

  • Wabbit, as far as I'm aware, was retooled into "New Loony Tunes" with some episodes (still in Limbo) to airing on Boomerang channel (though marathon burns) and app.
  • Bunnicula is burning off its current Season 3 episodes on Boomerang.
  • Justice League Action still has a couple of episodes out of the 52 produced left to air internationally (on CN UK), with CN US playing catch-up for a good while.
  • The Tom and Jerry Show's unaired Season 2 episodes have been shuffled to the Boomerang App. Otherwise, I have no idea (let's say, Limbo).

Two more Warner Bros bonus:

  • Right Now Kapow note  was silently canceled by Disney XD and should be [almost] done burning through its episodes.

  •      Dorothy & The Wizard of Oz (or Dorothy of Oz)

Yay Ozma! ^^ It seems to take cues from the Di C Wizard of Oz cartoon while still being original. I like the animation style, too! Wilhelmina looks adorable.

I hear that Billina and the Nome King may be in it as well.

That show looks. . . Interesting to say the least. As for Right Now Kapow, that's not really in the territory of this thread, since it wasn't a Cartoon Network series.

I'm all for including less-used Oz characters into a new show. I'm turned off by the modern slang though.

Is that Tara Strong as Willemina?

I was just about to say that. There are a whole bunch of Oz books, but it seems like today the only one anyone remembers is the first one. It would be cool to have a show that adapts the whole series.

Sadly, the trailer makes it seem like it's gonna be 99% lifted from the film.

Of course it is; the WB owns the film and thus have the sole legal right to capitalize on it.

Still, anything more Baumian is highly welcome; aside from Ozma, Billina and the Nome King being in this show, they did a sequel to the Tom And Jerry Oz film with the Nome King and the Hungry Tiger. (I do wonder, however, whether they'll explain where Ozma came from. Even in this day and age I don't think her origin story would pass muster on a kid's show.)

[up][up] If someone made a good, faithful, animated version of The Marvelous Land Of Oz I would be able to die happy.

Unfortunately, all we've got for that is the terrible Dorothy of Oz movie from a few years ago.

Interestingly, it seems like whatever issues are affecting Cartoon Network's scheduling during the daytime, they aren't affecting Adult Swim at all. They've even put Samurai Jack into reruns, which isn't something I thought they'd do.

Kari Wahlgren is Dorothy (and Ozma). It also features the performances of Tom Kenny, Jess Harnell, Bill Fabberblake, and is directed by Mary Elizabeth Mc Gwynn! The impressive cast makes me want to watch it despite my lukewarm reaction to the trailer.

[up][up][up][up] Well, that's because, aside from Miller, [adult swim] has a completely different management from Cartoon Network. To be fair, (at least from 8pm-12am), [as] is somewhat lacking in variety of shows (their obviously airing Fox cartoon shows, especially Family Guy), yet even then, Family Guy isn't on for more than 2-3 hours ( at least from 9pm/10pm-12pm).

@Mighty Magiswords last page

The weird thing with MM is that the shorts still play (one was on TV this afternoon) and the network continues to advertise its existence (at least l'm pretty sure I've seen an ad for it within the last 2 weeks), but the full episodes never seem to be on.

[up][up][up][up][up] At the end of The Marvelous Land Of Oz we learn that Tip, the boy protagonist who we've been following for the whole book, is in reality Princess Ozma, enchanted into a boy by Mombi the witch. Tip's reluctant to change back, but he does so, albeit not before having to be convinced that it's perfectly fine to be a girl (and Baum kind of emphasizes this)...

You can see why it'd be a hell of a thing to explain where Ozma came from in this new show.

@3386 Ozma is one of the princesses of Oz and daughter of King Pastoria, originally kidnapped by the Wizard of Oz as a baby and handed off to the witch Mombi, who turned her into a boy named Tip with magic. Tip eventually discovered their true identity and turned back into Ozma to rule the land, and when Dorothy moved to the Land of Oz with her family she became a princess too. Later books softened the origin so the Wizard didn't kidnap her and Mombi was solely responsible or something but I forget the exact details.

Other Ozian oddities include the Nome King's ruby belt that could do pretty much anything via granting wishes, Ozma's Magic Picture that could see anywhere in Oz and beyond, and Glinda the Witch of the South's magic book of records that recorded anything the instant it happened. For most plots to happen one of those had to not work. I've heard the Land of Oz described as a benevolent dictatorship before XD;

There were a couple adaptations that kept in Tip and/or Ozma, including a couple recent ones. The anime portrayed it as in the book, Return to Oz had Ozma as a girl from the start, while the Wizard of Oz text adventure kept Tip a boy the whole time and he was the Prince of Oz. Emerald City had both as far as I know.

Apparently, this Friday and Saturday we're getting a Teen Titans Go "America Special" marathon for the Fourth of July. Despite, you know, it not being the Fourth of July yet. Uncle Grandpa will also be ending, which is something I have absolutely no opinion about whatsoever since I never watched it.

On the bright side, Steven Universe will be returning starting on July 3rd, according to TV Guide.com: http://www.tvguide.com/search/listings/2/?keyword=steven+universe

The 4th is on a Tueday (Go! likes to air new episodes on Fridays iirc) and it's not unheard of for shows to air their holiday specials a few days early.

I think the network's treatment of its shows can be organized into a hierarchy, like this:

(TTG + Ben 10 + Gumball)—> (Steven Universe + Clarence + We Bare Bears ) —> (anything else)

The shows on the left are the ones the network favors strongly. The shows in the middle are the ones that it doesn't favor quite so strongly, but still allows to keep airing because canceling them would be bad for business. And the ones on the right are the ones that might as well not be there at all, like Sonic Boom and Transformers: Robots In Disguise.

Not looking forward to the Titans special.

I have a feeling I'll end up being ashamed of being an American if I see it.
