Achewood, Dr. McNinja, It's Walky!, Penny Arcade, Scary-Go-Round, Bad Machinery, or really anything by John Allison, Order of the Stick, and the golden years of PVP.

Hark!A Vagrant too. Forgot that one. Also, Final Fantasy VII: The Sevening. And there are a few really good Nuzlocke comics, like the original one, Freddy, Kynim, etc.

The Adventures of Dr. McNinja, xkcd (provided you're in the right mindset for it), Bob and George, Concerned, Problem Sleuth. I also recall really liking Inverloch, although I haven't looked at it in a good while. Axe Cop was up there at the beginning; dunno if it still is, since while I'm still enjoying it, I do wonder if it's getting a bit cliche at this point.

I can't in good conscience say Homestuck. It's a solid 7-8, but given I've dropped the comic for months at a time, multiple times, because I don't have the time to deal with a Wall of Text or having to put audio on to watch a flash animation... the fact that the plot is incredibly convoluted, with both time travel and alternate universe shenanigans and Loads And Loads Of Characters making me frequently forget what the hell is going on or what past events are being referred to... it's just too flawed to be worth "near perfect" or "perfect", and frankly, if I hadn't been there when it started, I don't think I'd have any inclination to perform the Archive Binge to see what the fuss is about.

That said, Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff is 11/10 Webcomic of the Year All Years

Most of the stuff I read is firmly in the 7-8 range. For 9-10, I'd go with Gunnerkrigg Court, Girl Genius, and possibly The Meek and Avas Demon.

I'm amused/annoyed that webcomics are 9+/10 when all the other snowclones are 9.5+/10.

Gunnerkrigg Court is the only webcomic I have consistently kept up with over the past three years, so that, I guess.

I might have added The Meek as well, except for the problems first with its schedule (it didn't update for almost a year) and then possibly being abandoned for good after a few updates were finally made.

Some which have already been mentioned would also be on my list, but to those I'd add Sam And Fuzzy (probably not the earliest arcs, but most of them by now,) Octopus Pie, and Kagerou.

Most of my top rated comics, I don't keep up with regularly; I favor story-based stuff which is better taken in archive binges.

I can't really rate a comic unless it's finished; a webcomic that starts promising could very well turn sour. On the other hand, a comic that's just been sorta there for a while can have an absolutely amazing finale that makes the slow journey worthwhile. For that matter, it's easy to have one's opinion swayed by where the comic is at now what the comic is like as a whole.

So with that in mind, I'm gonna say Digger. The sheer amount of world building is staggering, but that would be just a novelty without the highly engaging character drama on top of it all. Throw in a stylish and eye-pleasing art style with some highly original character designs, and you have what is easily one of the greatest webcomics of all time.

If we include completed webcomics, I'm inclined to include:

Of ongoing comics, I'll include:

  • Unsounded (Excellent art; imaginative, unusual setting with a fascinating magic system; excellent characters)
  • By Moon Alone (Unusual and intriguing... if only it weren't yet again on hiatus, at least... :/)
  • Cucumber Quest (Beautiful art; excellent, funny writing and very fun characters.)
  • Blindsprings (Lovely art, an intriguing story and an interesting setting — at least, what we've seen of it thus far. I'll grant that I'm including this despite it being barely begun at time of writing.)

Unsounded.

Digger (which is finished).

I'd say The Meek, but there's only three chapters of it.

Paranatural.
