The Pokemon ones are Media Wiki style links — you should be able to link to its File: page rather than the direct image file.

I added the Mario and Portal examples back to the page. Mario was never broken, and I replaced the image for Portal 2 Chell. I don't think the Pokemon example is even good enough to include. I don't really see much of an improvement from before to after.

[up]Copy the urls and paste into the URL bar. That's why the links were thought to be bad.

[up] Those links are broken—a link should be able to be clicked on and bring you directly to the page, not require you to do a run-around. That said, I would agree that that's not a good example.

Where on the pages is the link?

The page quote on Flat World has a broken link in it to http://www.webcitation.org/mainframe.php.

From https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/CrossOver/AnimeAndManga :

"DVD including three OV As for their three most popular animes: Inu Yasha, Urusei Yatsura, and Ranma ½."

Now defunc URL was: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bhBU07b2YM

At least by its title, I think a working URL is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwY8p9rW27M (it lacks the last few seconds, the "welcome to the 50ths anniversary" part), but another clip that has that is of bad quality that it's too ugly to watch...)

Another one, but sadly, this time I have no fix since google not tells me the title of the clip. Just that it's unavailable...

The non working URL to a youtube clip is in https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FreudianSlipperySlope / the part about Western Animation / "Home Movies" The link name is "Watch the first minute of this" and the broken URL is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jkjy7iSDhck

I don't know if it's been brought up somewhere else or not, but Sinfest changed the format of its archives a month or so back and now almost every external link to a strip is broken. This may take its own dedicated thread to fix.

it probably will, with over 1500 links, plus 500 or so of them need namespacing to Webcomic. As I am not familiar with the Webcomic, I wouldn't be much good. Granted, we can use the search function (on Sinfest's site) to find most of the strip's new addresses, but it will take a while.

Just so I'll know in the future - is it kosher to have Wayback Machine links in place of dead ones?

Apparently the official Garfield website has restructured its archive system, because almost all the links to strips there (instead of to GoGomics.com) are broken, and just send you to the latest strip. Just a heads-up for Garfield fans.

There are broken links on Dissonant Serenity. Does anyone remember what the pictures were of?

Fey Winds apparently changed sites a couple of months ago (due to their prior host site going out of business). New site is here. Replace or delete links as you find them.

I'll take a crack at some cleanup later, once I have time.

The Twitch URLs on Funny.Proton Jon Livestreams need to be checked and replaced, due to Twich saving streams that are under two months old. I was going to do it, but I don't have enough time.

If you see any links to the now-defunct Webcomics Nation site, remove them immediately, as they currently point to malware-land central.

A lot of links from AwesomeMusic.Steven Universe (specifically in the folders for Seasons 1-4) need to be replaced, as Aivi and Surasshu have taken almost all of the SU songs off their SoundCloud.

Why is there no unified thread for cleaning up broken links? This can't be it, since if it were it wouldn't have been dead for almost 2 years.
