Good news for Hong Kong and Taiwanese fans. (Damn, I'm jelly already...)
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Bad news for us, then, since they could start spreading them spoilers on the intertubes now
Being cleverer than you look is better than looking cleverer than you are.Is the ACG community (or at least the Fan Dumb portion of that community) really that obnoxious enough to stoop to that kind of level? *sighs*
In any case, if you don't want spoilers to affect your viewing of the actual movie, you know the drill.
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."That does't matter anymore. My copy arrived today, I've watched it and the movie largely lives up to expectations.

The only resource you need for tropesAny extras/Feelies?
(Returns to "silent waiting" mode.)
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Kotobukiya's Cu-Poche figure of Miho is adorable :3
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Came with an artbook, an unreleased song and a new OVA

I don't think tanks work that way. I don't think ferris wheels work that way. I don't think roller coasters work that way. But who gives a shit? Wow, that was amazing from start to finish. The characterizations were spot on, building on what came before without just repeating it. The new characters made an already crammed movie even more dense, but they were characterized quite well (except maybe the enemy sub-commander). And of course, the battles were amazing. Tactics, super tanks, crazy strategies, an environment conducive to them, and all around tank fun.
Some specific notes to make. Darjeeling and Katyusha remain the only ones to have defeated Miho. I am a little annoyed that they repeated the ship closing down plot point, but it made for some good moments anyway, so I'll let it slide. Though that one guy really hated them for some reason. As usual the Americans save the day. Go go Saunders. That moment when the other schools came in was a legit fist pump moment. Katyusha really does inspire awe in her comrades, even the great Nonna. Anzio was even more amazing than they were in their OVA, pulling off the legit craziest maneuvers. I think that roller coaster ride was straining my disbelief a little, but I'll let the coolness slide. I don't know what the musical girls were doing there, but they had a sweet tune, so they're cool. The Nishizumi sisters having their official reconciliation was great, and the two fighting side by side was everything I wanted from them.
Great movie. I'm not surprised it made so much money. I'd definitely want to see it in theaters if I could.
Here's a large collection of screenshots, for anyone interested
The only resource you need for tropesSo, movie. It's... even goofier than the series. Lots of physics-defying stunts and the character writing is focused mainly on comedy. Not a bad thing, though. Also added a bunch of new characters despite already having basically everyone from the series. Again, mostly works (though Continuation was kind of strange). Anchovy suddenly became one of the most effective characters, which I'm not quite sure how to feel about
Main complaint: The premise is basically the same as the series and they created a Hate Sink to support this when they could have easily just had a high-school allstar team take on the university team. Also, I'm still not clear on why fanart is heavy on Darjeeling x Kay these days
Overall, quite fun

Anyway...after a few interruptions with the stream, I've managed to finish watching the Girls und Panzer movie. While I already got spoiled on some of the results of the big confrontation in the film, it was still nice to (finally) see them for myself...and by Jove, they were still jaw-droppingly awesome. (Pic links ahead):
- "Do not f**k with an IS-2." (So the whole thing was an exhibition match...)
- "A machine gun on a bike... Sounds crazy, no?"
- Reference for the CoH 2 skin makers.
- USF Heavy Cavalry Company Pershing spam. (Note: Only available with the heavy tank limit off.)
- "Rabbit Team would be excellent at CinemaSins. Also, the Prometheus School of Running Away From Things." *ding*
- Thomas the Tortoise Tank.
- Tank Pac-Man much?
(P.S.: I'm not sure if the Imgur links are displaying properly on your side, so a bit of advice—via PM—on using Imgur would be helpful.)
And now for some Fridge Logic questions:
- How many tons can a C-5 Galaxy carry? And by comparison, what's the total weight of all of Oarai's tanks?
- Can a BT-7 still really drive without its tracks?
- And how long has that butterfly been hovering around Saki?

"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Capacity of a C5 is typically about 120 metric tons.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Attempt to do some number crunching (listed weights taken from The Other Wiki):
- Panzer IV: 25 tons (might weigh more with the additional armor and the new gun)
- Stug III: 23.9 tons
- M3 Lee: 27 tons
- Type 89: 12.79 tons
- Hetzer: 15.75 tons
- Porsche Tiger: 59 tons
- Type 3: 19 tons
- Char B1 bis: 28 tons (Whoops...forgot about this...)
182.44 210.44 tons in total. So that's 62.44 90.44 tons over the limit...though Anzu did day it was a "Super Galaxy" which might have a higher capacity.

"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."The C-5M Super Galaxy only ups it to about 130 metric tons.
"Yup. That tasted purple."It didn't look like there was space for landing/takeoff in the first place...
You forgot the Char B 1 Bis in your calculations.

I saw the film the Continuation High taking on 3 tanks all to an instrument theme was awesome. Also Miho and Maho vs final boss was awesome. Those two are dangerous when they work together.

Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2& So that makes it 80.44 tons over the limit if it is a regular/real-world Super Galaxy...
Now if it's something like the An-225 (which managed to carry a payload of four main battle tanks at 253.82 tons—that's 43.38 tons heavier than the combined weight of Oarai's tanks), that'd be definitely doable, but since Saunders is an American-themed school...
OK, I guess I'll think of Saunders' C-5 as a "Super" Super Galaxy or an An-225/Galaxy hybrid.
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."This is a universe where carriers larger than the UNSC Infinity exist, so it's not implausible for their Super Galaxies to have a bit more lifting power
Also, the OVA is out now, and that proved to be a nice epilogue for the movie.
The only resource you need for tropesI watched the movie and have rather enjoyed it. Despite it throwing physics out of the window.
The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground
Rule of Cool at its finest. And it's excellent.
But man,I can't believe NO ONE called out MEXT for the utter BS of having a Karl-Gerat deployed for the university team. It's not tank no matter how you stretch the definition. Makes you think that the whole thing about Ooarai being closed was due to one MEXT official having a personal grudge against the school.
I feel like there was supposed to be more going on with that MEXT official, but it got cut to fit in more tanks
More like it was just bureaucratic coldness the first time and he took them trying to stave off what he saw as the inevitable as a personal insult.
Then again, the premise for the whole movie would have been mitigated if they had just done interviews after winning the tournament and mentioned why they were doing it. The MEXT guy could try to pull his shit but then he would get a call from the Prime minister asking why the fuck he is trying to initiate a PR nightmare.
Yeah, that would've avoided the movie's plot altogether, with the addition of Ooarai Academy getting enough popularity that private companies would want to invest and/or support the school.
After all, Ooarai did pull off a classic and impressive underdog victory over everybody else (save maybe for Anzio). You'd think the media would be all over them immediately after their championship victory.
And now for something a little different...
I wonder if there's videos of the actual Anglerfish Festival posted on YouTube?
