Here's something I just found and it looks promising.

Goodbye Isekai Tensei

Only two chapters in but it already looks like a promising parody. You will probably notice "isekai" in the title but don't be fooled. So far we've seen nothing of that "other world". Instead the princess comes to our world to get the MC who is supposed to help them defeat the demon king once he is reincarnated as a legendary hero in their world. The key word here being "reincarnated". Yeap, she came to kill him. She even tired to run him over with a Truck. And then the demon princess also came and tries to protect him.

My Wife is a Man - Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Same author as ''Alcohol Is For Married Couples", and is written in the same style: Short and sweet chapters about a couple enjoying food together. Although in this case, the "woman" is a trap.

Area 51, volume 15… Now that's quite a unique way to start a Zombie Apocalypse. The final battle between Tokuko and the Doppelganger was both entertaining and emotionally powerful in its conclusion. Surprisingly, Tokuko ends up dying without accomplishing her vengeance, but the epilogue with her daughter's growth shows that it was well worth it. And I like that the author points out that Tokuko didn't defeat any super-powerful enemy in the end… This was simply a story about her seeking closure.

Well, what can I say. This was a fantastic ride all the way through, certainly one of the most unique and thrilling series I've ever read. I want to see it animated but I'm aware that animating its style and atmosphere would be a daunting task, so I'm already happy I have this gem in my collection. <3

Found a few mangas lately I found enjoyable.

Jyoshikausei, which is about an... interesting high school girl and her friends. She's described as "carefree", which is rather accurate. She tends to have her own ideas about things. The chapters are short and almost completely silent. I'm not sure anyone actually speaks. In particular I liked the chapter where she was getting ready in the morning, and when she was scolded for not wearing her uniform necktie. In the former she's so careful about everything, and yet... In the latter she definitely ties her necktie the girlfriend way. I also like the Meganekko in how she's Not So Above It All.

Otome Danshi ni Koisuru Otome, which was brought up in the thread before, is about an androphobic girl who meets a crossdressing boy. I find him very interesting, since he's feminine in several ways, but also most definitely a guy. He's exactly like his grandmother (I think it was) told him to be. Himself. Added to that there are some geometric love shapes involved, with a pair of childhood friends involved. Also, don't be fooled by the number of chapters. It's a quick read.

Kyougaku Koukou no Genjitsu is a Slice of Life Comedy about a few students in a school. It's a comedy I find similar in style to that most-definitely-not-a-ninja girl manga, but maybe a little more casual and less character-specific. I think the chapter where the three main boys are all griping about not raising any relationship flags is particularly telling of the tone. One of the more light-hearted and funny variants of Dramatic Irony. I like the girl in the group who's more or less one of the guys and teases them about various things, while at the same time doesn't seem to mind if one of them would ask her out. There are few other interesting characters as well.

Seifuku Aventure - Chemical Reaction Of High School Students is about the president of the public morals committee who most definitely is not interested in starting a relationship with anyone, because that's against school morals and would set a bad example. She's not nearly as tsun as that kind of character tends to be, but she has her moments. My favourite moment was when she added a line to the blackboard. Not sure if it updates, though. Bunch of chapters a month or so ago, and nothing else. Still, it's fun. It has the same creators as the above manga.

[up]Jyoshikausei, eh? I brought it up before on this thread, and it's some good shit. I imagine that if it ever got an anime adaptation, they would devote almost all the voice-acting budget to the animation and background music instead. Would certainly be interesting to see.

…Huh, so Hotarubi no Tomoru Koro ni will get a French release. Didn't expect that, since we're still waiting for Higurashi and Umineko here. I guess it's because the publishers are fans of Koike Nokuto. Whatever the case I'm pretty happy (save for the stupid English title). surprised

So apparently the first episode of Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii aired, and anons are... well, it's kind of expected when you go to /a/, but this is like a rare level of blistering flame war. Mostly in regards to the main couple (which is admittedly the least interesting and slowest relationship of the three featured) and the girl having a history of boyfriends (surprise, surprise).

I already wrote a summary, and I say that all the characters are great and the series a blast to read.

There are only two established couples so it's not much to say Narumi and Hirotaka are the least developed. =P

I read a little bit more of Mill today and I'm liking it.

To recap: It's the story of a man at college, Aki, who discovers that his family housecat has found his way to him. Oh, and said housecat, Mill, is also an eighty-plus year old bakeneko with the ability to assume the form of a schoolgirl (she learned to become human when she was sixteen, and the act of doing so also makes her The Ageless).

The fun thing with Mill's personality is how it combines being non-human, a schoolgirl, and an old woman. A chapter where she gets a cell phone is perhaps a perfect example.

Mill presents a perfectly practical reason to want a phone. they don't have one otherwise and the lack of one made her unable to keep in touch with Aki when he was going to be late. However, Aki discovers the real reason is because the old woman at Mill's part time job got a cell phone before her, so she feels she's been beaten as a high school girl. At the department store, she's mesmerized by every little new thing she hasn't really paid attention to before and, in the process of getting the actual phone, incessantly asks a whole bunch of questions about every little thing bout the phones, only to pick out the single cheapest model and plan available. The salesperson and his manager both refer to her as an old granny as they leave, despite the fact she looks like a teenager.

I also finished an arc that introduces a new bakeneko, though unlike Mill one who has attained human form only very recently so she's still getting used to human things.

[up] Sounds pretty cute. waii Is there a romance or is it just slice-of-life?

On the really obscure side: Bouken Elekite Tou, aka L'Île errante (The Wandering Island) by Tsuruta Kenji, that I had mentionned in my Memories of Emanon review a while ago.

The protagonist is Mikura Amelia (Amelia is the surname), a young woman who works as a mail deliverer between small Japanese islands with her old seaplane. When her grandfatherdies, she inherits his house on Hahajima… and a mysterious package for a "Mrs. Amelia" who lives on an island called Elekite. Problem is, this island seems to be constantly moving around the Pacific Ocean. When Mikura finds it, her plane is attacked by a canonball, and when she wakes up the island is already gone. Even though no one believes her story and she almost starts to doubt her own eyes, she's nonetheless determined to find the island again and deliver the goddamn package.

…I'm developing quite a fondness for this author. Every landscape and background detail is meticulously handdrawn, and the guy seems to have a talent to draw young women that are not just physically gorgeous but have a lot of subtle charm in general. The story is simple, but every detail is so vivid that I felt I was there, travelling with Mikura and living with her. It can be pretty funny too. Actually I think this manga would be perfect as a Ghibli film. The only issue is that volume 1 came out in 2011 and volume 2 in… 2017. So I can expect volume 3 around 2023 I guess. TT__TT

For the most part no. I did skip ahead to the final chatper, mostly to see if it was ongoing or ended (ended at 40-odd chapters if I'm remembering correctly) and it does show them still together. There's a wedding but I don't recall it being theirs.

Arte : In Renaissance Italy young noble girl Arte who loved art whole her life decide pursue career of painter instead of arranged marriage. Of course noone would accept woman as apprentice... except Master Leonardo (who probably, but not certainly isn't THAT Leonardo) who is willing give her chance, but zero considerations. Rest is only on her dedication and talent.

Once more, with grammar:

Arte: In Renaissance Italy, young noble girl Arte, who has loved art whole her life, decides to pursue the career of a painter instead of an arranged marriage. Of course, no one would accept woman as apprentice... except Master Leonardo, who is willing give her chance, but zero considerations. The rest is up to her dedication and talent.

If you're copy/pasting straight from a site's description, gotta pay attention to that because they are rarely very grammatical.

Grashros is caveman battle manga about a caveman seeking revenge for his murdered tribe. Either a powerful mammoth or a really strong dude did the deed, I'm not sure.

This manga is the greatest because it's the goddamn stupidest thing to bless scanalation sites. It wants to be an dark, hard-hitting battle series but it moves so fucking fast. So many "gritty" things happen at such a lightning-pace that it begins to undercut itself dramatically, to the point that the violence kinda has no meaning anymore. Then it loops back into hilarious, when it either tries to be too shocking, or fails at trying to be funny.. Quick example; there is a character the audience knows for like three to five chapters tops. She gets offed brutally and off-panel. The cast mourns her death very quickly, and then one of the characters ends up drawing a blood memorial dedicated to how much he wanted to squeeze her tits.

It's readable because the art is actually pretty good, but boy is it hilarious

I just finished rereading Goth today. It's a psychological Horror/Thriller manga. I read it on Mangahere and the summary is as follows:

"A rather morbid, somber manga about two high school students, Kamiyama Itsuki and Morino Yoru, who have a peculiar interest in deaths and especially murders that are committed near them. Due to their strong fascination with murder and highly analytical skills, they managed solve the murders that have eluded even the authorities. However, acting on their own sense of justice and in self interest, the murderers are often able to escape with the murders that they have committed. Often, it is Kamiyama who solves the cases to even the most subtle of details, but he is interested in only one thing and that is the method to which Morino Yoru should be killed".

It's a pretty good manga. Kind of short, though.

Kindaichi Shonen No Jikenbo / The Kindaichi Case Files: A long running detective murder mystery series, which has been around for around 20 years, but never gained traction in the west. Like Detective Conan it features a genius teenage detective, named Hajime Kindaichi. The biggest difference between the two is that Kindaichi's cases are longer and bigger, and often features in-depth, tragic history between the victims and the murderer. Also, all the cases are Fair-Play Whodunnit, for those who enjoy them.
