So far the stuff I encountered did have options to turn it off (although some come at a cost and Blessed with Suck) but all those opt-outs feel more like "This is not my fetish, I don't want that" rather than "Bleached Underpants version."

New one on the list. ImageLinks.Kim Kardashian. I think this falls into "Not under the P5's purview, but it should be put on the cutlist anyway."

ImageLinks.Kim Kardashian can be zapped, as it's been cut.

VideoGame.Rape Lay can be marked as done (and needs to be added to the list in the pinned topic here)

So here's the situation: there's a rather large anime franchise based around the light novel series Oreimo, which includes anime, light novels, a PSP video game, and a manga adaptation. I've never seen any of the other mediums, but I thought I'd read the manga at my local bookstore, see if it was as good as some of my friends were saying it was.

Despite the Older Teen label on the book and the lack of shrinkwrap on the title, I went ahead and flagged the manga (and the manga only) of Oreimo for being pedo-pandering. I only read the two volumes available in English, but both were littered with skeevy images of the fourteen-year-old deuteragonist Kirino, who is the "little sister" of the title. (The full long-ass title translates to "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute!") In GI Sing "Oreimo manga", I was coming up with even more cheesecake-y images of Kirino and her other fourteen-year-old friends in later volumes that haven't been published in America, some of which looked like they had full-on labia in relief through underpants. Overall, the atmosphere of the manga is one of complete and total sexualization of Kirino, who is drawn in a way that makes her look obviously childlike compared to the older teenaged leads. Not to mention that she is stated to love lolicon-siscon erotic V Ns and media.

I don't know if I'm overly sensitive or what, but this thing practically burned my eyes out with the amount of poor-taste fanservice and red flags.

...So, you just have a problem with the way the manga's drawn, or you think that the franchise as a whole is problematic? Cause I took a look at the manga just now, and what I find objectionable is that everyone looks like moe neanderthals.

...Because the main characters are all teenagers, so I find it hard to believe it falls under "pedo-pandering".

And yes. I checked to make sure they were teenagers. Several times. The older brother is 17, his younger sister is 14.

I have a problem with the fact that a fourteen-year-old girl is the constant focus of sexualized Male Gaze, and that her relative youth is constantly emphasized in relation to it. The art style isn't something I have a problem with; I just mentioned that Kirino and the girls her age are drawn to look visibly younger than the 17-year-old male protagonist because I felt it was important to note. I mean, I get what moe is and all that.

I have no idea what the rest of the franchise is like, honestly, but the manga was ridiculous.

So I guess my problem is with the way the manga is drawn, not how. So not the moe, but the constant ass shots, boob shots, cheesecake and bikini shots, the image shots of the blatant lolicon video games she's been playing...

Ah, okay. Well, can't kill anyone to take a look. I haven't heard terrible things about this franchise compared to some of the other dreck that's passed by here, though, so I'm not expecting anything that would sear my eyes out.

It was more of an Eiken thing - a lot of fanservice of a girl who is not legal, coupled with a sketchy plot device of her being in love with 18+ eroges focused on underage girls.

And from looking on sites like ANN about the anime, that aspect seems to be downplayed in the anime, in addition to the anime lacking that fanservice-y nature. But I haven't seen it, so I don't really know.

AFIK about the whole eroge thing, it's how the main character finds out his sister is an Otaku in the first place...and because, if the trope page is correct, she apparently self-identifies with the cute heroines of the stories in some fashion.

...Not sure about the fanservice aspect, but yeah, probably would be good to take a look at least at that aspect.

Like I said, I read the first two volumes of the manga, and that aspect of her eroge love... seems really like a convenient way to show almost-explicit images of sexy children. (And is pretty much all she's an Otaku for, might I add.) I was getting the impression from the trope page that it's not like that in the anime or the light novels.

Not sure about the light novels, but the anime doesn't have any problems. There's not much fanservice at all.

I've heard that the manga has more fanservice. The series as a whole is most certainly not in violation of our policy any more than Negima is. Quite a bit less, if anything.

I've seen parts of that anime, and it wasn't too bad, but it certainly wouldn't be the first time there was a huge content difference between manga and anime.

Yeah...

I created the page on HanzoTheRazor a few months back...

i am really iffy if the films are wiki appropriate.

On one hand, the films all feature the titular samurai cop solving crimes etc...

on the other, much of the big thing that may turn people off is that the protagonist rapes women to get information outta them...uhhh yeah I am not sure...

On Oreimo, I watched a couple episodes of the anime, and basically agree with everyone here - the anime is lighthearted and not in the purview of the P5, so my flag is specifically for the manga.

I have seen some of the anime, and it's not really that disconcerting in terms of the policy. Not familiar with the manga. I'm off for the Fourth, so I could take a look at it then, hopefully.

Incidentally, do we know anything about the original L Ns?

It is worth noting that there are no rules against the distasteful use of rape as a plot element. So unless a story is pretty much nothing but rape, I don't see it being classed as "porn".

If rapist protaganist was enough to get things booted, we'd be getting rid of a large part of mythology, which of course we aren't.
