Something like this? It's a very basic design, but I think it looks alright...

Looks good!

[fussy sailor mode]

Could you make the left end square and then make the triangle of sail at the other end slightly smaller?

[/fussy sailor mode]

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

That shouldn't be too difficult.

That's better, but the right sail needs to have the same baseline as the left one and a row or two taken off the hypotenuse instead.

Also, it would be nice if the bottom edge of the left sail was flat and had a wooden bar at the bottom, probably only one pixel wide.

@857 Yeah, I was thinking of just tweaking the hats used for YKTTW... that's a sweet hat. (And pardon for getting back to you on that a little late).

Not strictly about the badges, but when I look at the forums logged out, the badge shop icon shows up at the top of the posts, unlike the holler, PM and avatar gallery one.

[down]Thanks.

What is the stance on copyrighted images? The hearts seem like they might be on shaky legal ground since they seem taken directly from Zelda. If those are okay, I was thinking that if you want a specific badge for forum interests it might be necessary to use badges on similar legal ground.

The hearts were not taken directly from Zelda. I made them myself pixel by pixel. They are inspired by the Zelda hearts, but they are not the same.

That's not exactly what I meant. It seemed to me that no matter how they were put together that they seemed based on Zelda imagery. That seems like it might be legally questionable.

Zelda isn't the only game to use heart containers by a long shot and the idea itself isn't copywrited. There's a reason I didn't use actual Zelda containers.

Okay. Never mind then. I asked someone earlier and didn't really get a satisfactory answer.

Can we have a few more music ones? Here's a few suggestions:

Instruments:

  • Guitar or bass - Epic Riff
  • Drums - (I don't know what to put here, except a bunch of "bang" puns that are probably not *Family Friendly, will someone else do this?)
  • Microphone - Careful with That Axe, GRAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH, Loudest Voice In The Room
  • Piano - Post Virtuoso or My Other Keyboard
  • An amp - Up To Eleven

Last time I checked, badges are not links.

@942 The only drum-related trope I know is Rimshot... though I could see some folks wanting their drum caption to be "Ba-dum PSH!"

Shame that you probably can't make a bass distinct enough from a guitar at that pixel size (unless you were careful and did only four keys on the tuning end)... it's the missing common rock instrument.

You figure a Creeper's head from Minecraft would go against copyright, too?

The issue is not that we are putting pics from Minecraft or any other work on our site; that is generally Fair Use. The issue is that we are profiting from them by selling or renting their use. It's just best to dot the I's and cross the T's when you do something like that. In theory, we might be obligated to pay Mojang royalties.

It's exactly like how someone is not allowed to make their own T-shirts that have our TV Tropes logo on them and sell them without our okay.
