[up][up][up] Yeah I know what that feels like. The girls usually do that over my hair no matter what I do with it (tie is back, straighten it, etc). I remember back when my hair was short and I still got attention over it.

I have no clue why I get so much attention.

[up]It's awful, isn't it?

In regard to Shirtstorm (AKA that idiotic argument about a scientist, his supposedly sexist bikini girl print shirt and Disproportionate Retribution that followed), I came up with the right solution:

Why not make a "hunky guys in speedos" print dress?

Going back a page to Vertigo - remember that in many cases, their views are influenced by what they grew up with, and how to them it's right. Many of the Baby Boomers provide a perfect example for this, because they'd grown with the idea that racism and hatred are wrong, and so many worked against that, especially hippies. Others held the opposite view due to the reactionary society they grew up in. So that's two conflicting views, and while some have sought to change it, others have not.

Racism, sexism and cultural issues are three issues many of those in the boomer generation are familiar with, and you will find some horrid views in that lot.

[up][up]Wasn't that guy driven to tears (pretty sure some dudebro assholes also made fun of him for that alongside the so called feminists or the SJ Ws) by these assholes masquerading as feminists?

The funny thing is you had Lena Dunham somewhat earlier in that week get in trouble for essentially being a shitty person but you can't hate her for her morally bad or questionable actions because OMG she is a woman, if you hate her you are obviously against all women. I never understood why some of those idiots on all sides just think it's the gender, race, or sexual orientation of the individual that is the reason behind someone else's dislike for that individual

In my junior year of high school I met the most obnoxious, stuck up, spoiled rich asshole of a kid who just happened to be a gay and white. I really tried to get along with this guy but just after a while of dealing with his bullshit as best as I could I finally got pissed (I have a pretty long fuse) and verbally destroyed him over his treatment of me as a supposed friend and how he is one of the most annoying people I have ever met. His response? Wow, I thought you were different from the others. But I guess you are as homophobic and as racist as everyone else. I am pretty sure my eyes were fucking twitching at that point and my face was contorted into a crazy looking fake smile. My best pal had to drag me away before I used my pencil as a skewer.

Wow, I am essentially that dude's opposite. [up]

Seriously messed up, though. He sounds like a toxic friend.

I probably would have had to stab myself to keep from harming him seriously. Which has happened at least once.

I have an issue, though, if someone has to advertise thier orientation to me more than once. I already said I won't judge you, so why is it necessary to tell me all the time? I mean, I don't go shouting to the would that I'm straight, but have an inner Psycho Lesbian who wants me to kiss all my friends, do I?

I believe that accusing people of misogyny just because the accuser is female and the accused is male smacks of misandry (and also that because a man has a bunch of women as his enemies does not make him a misogynist), and that similar racism accusations from another person to a white person are racist in and of themselves. People like that caused me to not only suffer from White Guilt but also to believe that I'm a walking stereotype of white Southerners, and also turned me into a Knight in Sour Armor type.

[up]But if you're not a stereotype, then I would not feel uncomfortable around you.

I agree with the point on Misandry, because I hate hearing about how this guy was soooo awful, but when I meet him, he talks to me like an equal, and unlike what was claimed.

Although, me being a gamer has something to do with those strange incidents. ..

I currently live in the South, and it's not that I have sjw glasses on, but a good portion of the people here are pretty stereotypical. The few ones who aren't, are fun to be around, even if they say/do some things that do strike me as off-color, at times.

As in calling me the whitest Black girl they be ever met. Which, is not only insulting, but also ignores my Asian heritage as well. And touching my hair without asking me. I don't like to be touched. If someone, upon meeting you, runs thier hands through your hair, how would you feel? Not that you do that, of course, but as you can see, I'm somewhat of a Knight in Sour Armor, myself.

Also, what's the deal with the "Black Literature" section in Walmart? One, it seems offensive to call it Black Literature, imo. Shouldn't you call it something else? Second, it's mostly erotica or historical drama. Honestly, it really sucks.

Just call it 'literaturre' and divide it up according to genre? Seems counterproductive to give it a section of its own. A little bit...segregationy.

Out of the few things that disappoint me, one of the most notable things has to be when someone has a potentially legitimate argument that completely deprives itself of any possible merit because of horrible execution. A good portion of them seem to follow the pattern of relying too heavily on pathos, neglecting logos and ethos in the process as well as actively employing logical fallacies such as ad hominem, misleading statistics, phrases taken so badly out of context that they're no longer accurate and Guilty By Association.

Hmmm important question do you think that the internet/social media age has allowed racism/sexism/etc to become worse? I certainly do and the amount of it is causing people to become further desensitized, which is a bad thing.

[up]I'd definitely agree with that. The idiots who perpetuate sexism and racism are getting more exposure and freedom then what they would get away with in real life through the internet. Infact I have a perfect example of sexism that would of gotten clamped down on hard if it occurred IRL....

Just recently I have seen a group of men on youtube go onto a video of a young woman talking about getting your first tattoo( she had tattoos herself and quite a few piercings) just to troll and call her a disgusting subhuman being (one even compared her to a drug addicted prostitute for getting tattoos and piercings) just for choosing to have tattoos and piercings. I cannot even explain in words on how much this type of misogynist bullshit pisses me off beyond belief. At this rate with the amount of this type of bullshit I have seen I am going to end up becoming a male misandrist. Another irritating thing about it is the woman herself was actually quite attractive even with all the tattoos and piercings (I am not much into to tattoos and piercings mind you) and even then why would you click the video even when the thumbnail showed a young woman with tattoos and piercings?! If that's not your taste then women then don't go search for fucking videos on tattoos and piercings....

Of course when I called out these douchebags I was called a white knight, one of them even presumed I was just girl defending a girlfriend (What the fuck?). One of them tried to convince me that he was not misogynist and that this woman was just not his taste...and then he completely contradicts himself in the next sentence, insulting her rather crudely over her appearance.

I have serious issues with social media, and the men who perpetuate this shit in general....

Social media is killing society, I kid you not, it is setting us back SO hard. One hand it's easier than ever to access information and connect with others, but it's also easier to spread misinformation(which is worse than not knowing) and in fact isolate yourself by immersing yourself in echo chambers and connecting only with others that think like you instead. It turns real life into a bunch of social cliques and the internet's lack of consequence really sets the environment for toxic attitudes and hate. I know freedom and such is the internet's biggest appeal, but responsibility and standards of human decency shouldn't be thrown out completely because of it.

[up]Terms like white knight and SJW are just an indicator of how absurd these attitudes have gotten. I roll my eyes and laugh whenever someone uses those terms in a derogatory non-ironic way, pretty much a red flag said person is a moron.

When you think about it words like "sjw" and its ilk are basically the endgame of internet arguments. Congratulations, you have a negative connotation word to refer to people you disagree with. No need to engage or anything, just pack it in and go home.

[up]Pretty much. I have heard of other stories of people calling out assholes and being brushed off as a SJW. Sadly assholes on both sides of the equation created the negative connotation. White Knight is pretty used in the same way now if a guy defends a woman at all in some places....pretty freaking sad really.
