This thread deals with all issues concerning the icons used for namespaces and their buttons, including proposals for icons for new namespaces and bugs with existing icons.
When submitting an icon, the icon images should be exactly 16x16 png with a transparent background. A gif can also be used, but png is usually better. Also, the naming convention is important. It should be the namespace in lowercase.
I am compiling a list of namespaces that need icons, and icons for those name spaces. This would be preferred to be done quickly because I've convinced Eddie to hook them up when I get them complied. I will be editing the OP as we go.
NOTE: Use the link to the sandbox in the thread title to see what still needs to be decided on.
Subpages that still need icons:
- Animation/
- FanWorks/
- Manhua/
- Sandbox/
- Timeline/
Subpages that already have icons hooked up (please note, this list has been collapsed into a note, so that the floating header post isn't huge)
Links to installation-ready icons here and forward.
pages that have icons

Well, at the very least, if you know anything about me, you'd know that I have a strong hatred of the use of JPGs except when necessary, so I replaced the leading option that's simply reversed with a PNG version, so there's no artifacts now.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed. The buttons for Playing With Wiki pages seem to have disappeared from trope pages that had them.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerI still think the moment icons are off center.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Question: Does it muddle this thread too much to have discussion of new icons, plus discussion of technical issues with newly implemented icons, in the same thread? Would it lead to more streamlined and focused discussion, for both aspects, to split technical matters off into a separate thread? Or is it better to keep everything related to namespace icons in one thread, even if it leads to less of a focus within that thread?
Sorry, I suppose that's technically three related questions.
Personally, I find the huge influx of people talking about the more technical aspects to be hugely distracting from the original focus of this thread, and think it might be better suited to its own thread. (And in fact, isn't that more of a "Tech Wishlist & Bug Reports" topic rather then an "Image Pickin'" topic?) If people would rather keep it all together here in Image Pickin', I'll suck it up and deal. But, frankly, in the last few days it has been a lot harder to follow things here with the multiple and overlapping discussions that have been occurring.

Boy Scouts ½: the most gratuitous self insert fic, ever! Read, if you dare!@1101: I agree with the idea that perhaps a "warning message" might be appropriate for the "There is no page here... yet" that appears before a page is created specifying that a dedicated subpage needs at least three examples, and that one or two examples should be merged into the appropriate "superpage".
Just something along the lines of "A subpage for a trope in a work (such as Awesome/, Funny/, Heartwarming/, etc.) needs a minimum of three examples. Any less and they should be listed as a trope example on the appropriate page."
Well, it is just a first draft.
ETA: And I suppose this does distract from the idea that this thread is about the icon images. Sorry.

I apologize if this isn't exactly the right place for this or if it's been discussed before, but is there a particular reason why the Discussion icons no longer differentiate between a discussion page that has remarks and one that's completely blank anymore?
Given the thread title, it seems that it's been officially been turned into an all-purpose icon topic.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanImage Links/ namespace is missing a pic. I thought about a picture frame or some famous painting. I tried to create the image, but it turned out too small or ugly. Any ideas?
I just noticed this: if a troper has the same name as a work, and s/he has created a Troper page, it appears as a tab under the work's page. Here's an example:
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tropers/Arrow
Since the troper page has nothing to do with the work, this seems like something that should be fixed?
That's really just a part of a bigger problem. For example the Britpop band Blur have nothing do do with the Racing Game Blur.

That is an old problem that this topic was started for a fixing attempt.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMan, I should have picked a hugely popular work and named myself after it! Darn my liking to have a consistent username in my online life!
Boy Scouts ½: the most gratuitous self insert fic, ever! Read, if you dare!A vote snapshot: Reversed ShoutOut/ megaphone◊ is at 8-5, all else in red.
Also, both the crowner and the icons in the sandbox have the "white background" problem. Someone should go through them and clean them up - I haven't figured out a way to do the background fix.
Finally, is there a reason why the new icons don't interact with the New Edits list anymore?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe Playing With Wiki buttons still appear to be absent from trope pages.
Is this a new policy or some sort of glitch?
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerI don't think it's been reactivated yet.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanUpdated the crowner and the sandbox with a transparent version of Reversed Shout-Out/ megaphone. It's also in the zip archive I linked to earlier.
All icons except "Coloured Reversed Shout-Out megaphone" are still 20*16.

On the transparency-and-size-question: Is this◊ an acceptable version of the Wiki/ icon?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe globe seem to have transparency too, so it will get brighter/darker depending on the page's background color. I'm fine with that even if it might not be 'right'.

Drat! That was not the point of this...
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMaybe | ? |
Edit: The (tiny) difference can be seen on YMMV.Wiki Sandbox.

Ah, so. Well, I've now tried a different method; is this for FanWorks/◊ acceptable?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanLooks good. Better than the one I made.
Also, I went ahead and changed the Headscratchers/ icon to fit the guidelines now added to the original post (which for some reason still lists an outdated "namespace-to-find-an-icon-for" list).
eta: I've also added copies for Playing With and Image Links and uploaded a cleaned up version of the current crowner leader here◊.

To prevent creation of subpages with only one or two examples, I suggest that we put a message on the uncreated page after the message we have today ("If you meant one of those, just click and go.[...]").
OT: I've changed my opinion on the Referenced By icon. I agree with Yotsuyasan that we should make more changes to the image than just mirroring it, and now that Rethkir has made a differently coloured version that I think looks nice, I vote for that one instead.
