Indeed! I didn't know you were a fan, Matt. grin

I quite like Hearts myself. I think Going for The One has to be my favourite.

I sort of have an odd obsession with pi, and 22/7 is, to the best of my knowledge, the "simplest" fraction that is close to pi.

I thought I already gave the origin for this one earlier in the thread, but apparently not. I was Artemis92, but to be honest, I don't think Artemis Fowl ever was my favorite series; at any rate, I stopped reading it after The Time Paradox.

As for Knowlessman, I took it from Guards Guards; my family and I are heavily into the Discworld series. I guess it's a nonce word, since it's nigh-Googleproof (a quality definitely not shared by Artemis92, as I mentioned before), but in context I think it means something along the lines of "one who is not 'in the know.'" To look at the word itself, it could also simply be called a fancy word for "noob." I think I like that idea. I know less than others, more often than not. There is also the lack of potential for gender confusion.

i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, baby

Ellowen is a title from one of my favorite books, the Healer's Keep. An Ellowen is a healer who has experienced ellowennity,(AKA, the love that unites all living things) I thought it was something to strive for. It's also the name of my Elf-Druid D&D character, Ellowen Aldergrove.

Around the time I signed up, I was contemplating piscivory in theropods. More specifically, I noted that spinosaurids are currently regarded as piscivores, while therizinosaurs (="segnosaurs") have been regarded as such in the past, so I guess it just kinda stuck.

As for the 77… I just thought it sounded cool.

It was actually an in-joke between my best matey and me; we were railing the black/pagan metal scene and their pathetic claims to absoluteness of "satanic" BM that must be recorded on old, worn-out audio tapes in the worst possible quality to be as "trve" and "kvlt" as possible, all the kashizzle. In the process I came up with the word TAPETRVE which is an "aesthetic word" in design/typography terms, expresses my personal fondness of magnet tapes as a medium and on top mocks the aforementioned zealots who take said fondness ad absurdum. I am a big fan of rancid, ugly soundscapes myself, but you can achieve that with good audio quality, too.

And as I said before, it is now my official pen name, so it was good for something grin .

My username is a twist on the infamous 'POUND' from the Mario games. I'm pretty sure I spell it in a unique way too (Pi-u-ner). People say "I pound you!" or such but I like saying it my way even if it's wrong. I've always been the odd one so what the heck.

Couldn't think of a username, so I decided to take a glance around my bedroom to see if anything stuck out enough for me to use as a username.

The only thing I noticed was a roll of Andrex toilet paper, which I had due to having a runny nose from a then recent cold. I added an extra D and changed the last vowel.

When I was more of a Japanophile, I used to go by Rōnin a lot. As I grew out of that and started undergoing some other changes, I felt like it didn't really fit anymore, so I thought about what it was that made me relate so much to romanticized story version of ronin in the first place, and it was mostly about not really fitting in anywhere, always being on the outside looking in, but holding onto a sense of integrity and character regardless.

So, The Wanderer was an easy and accurate little change. And now on most sites where I have a username I'm some version of The Wanderer or The Wandering 1, or whatever.

Whoa, look at the necromancy in this thread.

This was like, a century ago. Or at least a decade or more. At first I was making an e-mail address (which I no longer use) but I spelled "ruse" wrong (and I was just using it because I thought it was a cool word). Then I started to identify with the name Ruise because I think the letters look pretty together, somehow. Then I decided it was actually pronounced "Roo-issy".

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

I chose Random Writer, because originally, I'd pop up at random intervals, derping around, before I finally settled down into forums, instead of being an internet nomad. The writer part, because I wrote fanfiction. Some bad, some gud, some intentionally bad, etc.

Though I don't really think my username required any explanation.

#270: Feb 10th 2016 at 6:02:23 PM

[up] Excerpt, please. And make it random.

Snicklin, like my other usernames, is an absolute nonsense word. I invented it as a name for a stick figure character I made back in '08. He had an octagon-shaped head because I was influenced by Jhonen Vazquez's polygonal aesthetic (mostly due to my friend making me watch and read a lot of his work).

I still have the lined notebook from Staples in which I used to draw Snicklin comics using nothing but a black colored pencil. You could tell that what kind of kid I was by the references to The Simpsons and Homestar Runner.

"Novis" or "Noven" were ideas for secret identity names a character from a writing project would use (I'm still technically working on it, but that element got dropped). In some places I go by Noven From The Sun.

'William' and 'Storm' are both from my real name (in public, I usually shorten it to 'Will'), while 'Radar' is from a family in-joke:

When I was but a fetus, my dad was a rocket scientist and mom was pregnant with me. One day, we get a photo of me inside the womb taken of me, and dad shows it to his dad/my grandpa, who thinks it's from dad's work. Grandpa promptly shares it with his friends under this assumption. It's only weeks later that dad tells him what it really was.

The wat part is from the time I made my first youtube account and I misspelled what. the dak part is part of the word dakka from W H40k. And the stomp part is also from W K40k, the, because the Orks from the first Dawn of Wars said stomp ya. Yeah, my user name is very random.
