I think he's talking about the YKTTW slash bug.

There is also the bug on cutlister.php. Any link there gets a slash/apostrope.

On the page you go to just after cutlisting something, any apostrophe will cause a slash. Apparrrantly it also happens with links in the main cutlist.

The other place I've seen it is rather obscure, and there's no reason for punctuation to be used at all, ever. I don't know how clear this explanation will be.

When you are redirected to a page, the URL goes https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TrueCompanions?from=Main.Nakama. Underneath the redirectee page's title, text saying "aka: Nakama" will appear, provided it isn't simply a namespace shift. However, you can type anything after the ?from= part; on the True Companions page, I can append ?from=Main.Qwertz to the URL, and it says "aka: Qwertz" below the title.

Unlike in the main URL, it's possible to put punctuation in this section. I can type https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tropers/FastEddie?from=Main.Awesome! and it shows up like this.

I can write anything like this, including something with an apostrophe. If I type ?from=Main. It'sAnApostrophe on the end of something, then in the "aka: " part it shows up with the slash bug, like this.

I know I've overcomplicated this — I could do away with the first two paragraphs. And it's an obscure thing that'll never crop up unless you're looking for it, since no main page URL can have an apostrophe. It's not really worth fixing, but it's still a bug.

Also just seen that the bug happens in YKTTW working titles, e.g. with this draft.

You also see slashes if you look at the edit history of a YKTTW. But maybe we should move the discussion of remaining slashes to a different thread?

I tried custom titling To Aru Hikushi E no Tsuioku to To Aru Hikūshi e no Tsuioku, but the ū is messed up on the both the page and links.

As are the symbols in Uta no Prince-sama.

Did you enter the HTML codes into the custom titler, or just paste in the symbols themselves? I've done the latter before and it's worked fine on the page.

Rule of Cool always displays with a capital 'Of', even though the page title is customized to Rule of Cool.

Let's just say and leave it at that.

May I ask again about the custom titles from this post?

They're still not customed at all.

This isn't so much a screwed-up title as a bizarre rejection. I've twice submitted 'E. E. "Doc" Smith' as a custom title for Creator.EE Doc Smith. This is the same custom title as on the old Main.EE Doc Smith (EE Doc Smith), and is the name that most commonly appears on the cover of all his works. Quotes and all.

I've just submitted it again. Since there isn't anywhere in a submission to include comments, I'm commenting here. I'm holding off on fixing any wicks until the custom title is in place, because the mainspace still has the custom title.

never mind.

eta: as long as I've got this post to edit, here's just a few examples showing Smith's name as I've requested it, on works of his—from different countries and different eras: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]. (Just in case anyone was seriously in doubt.)

[up][up]Really? I can only see colons on about 6 of those in the sandbox. I submitted custom titles with colons for all of them.

[up]All but the first 3 Mainspace links now have colons. None of the namespaced links are customed. All titles on the page should have a colon immediately after the first word.

I submitted a custom title for Meet My Good Friends Lefty and Righty. Should be "Meet My Good Friends, "Lefty" and "Righty""; instead, it came out "Meet My Good Friends,".

I think the comma's what's screwing it up. Doubt it's the quotation marks, I've submitted episode titles with quotation marks (as well as I Call Her "Vera" and its redirect I Call It "Vera") without issue. I've submitted, twice now, a fix for it without the comma, but it hasn't gone through...

Um...they look custom titled to me.
None of those links appear customized to me (all are in "X The Y" style), while on the pages themselves their names appear as "X: the Y" (with the colon but for some reason a lowerspaced The).

It's 90% of the time listed as "X: The Y", e.g. on Wikipedia, Amazon, even the White Wolf wiki itself.

Shadow Hog @319: there does indeed seem to be a problem with double-quotes at present. I know it used to work; the current problem is apparently the side-effect of another bug fix (possibly related to the slash-apostrophe problem we were having for a while). I know you just got sent here from another thread, but I started a thread on the double-quote problem here. We found a work-around, but I'm not sure it's the ideal solution. Maybe if you post in that thread, it will help Fast Eddie notice the problem—he's the only one that can really do anything about it.

[up][up]The books themselves make "the" in titles lowercase wherever the caps lock is off.

Anyway, the colons are more important and they're missing from every namespaced link.

Color-Coded Patrician is displayed with a hyphen properly in its own article title; elswhere, however, the hyphen does not appear.
