Well she's standoffish and has the whole I Work Alone thing going with Lei, okay he is kind of an idiot but we get a sense of this before meeting him in the briefing and afterwards. She's confrontational and up for a fight such as when she meets Kazuya and earlier at the ship where the second game suggests she isn't. In a way she's closer to the way she is in Tag 2 where she's rather cold to the point Unknown comes across as more friendly, and she's what, the Big Bad? In Tekken 2 she's the type you think you could talk to, The Motion Picture and Tag 2 not so much. The Live Action film she's a mix of the two, you could joke that Jin's her son when he gets hot headed, or I would, and not expect her to choke you out like she does to her own son.

[up] First of all, in regards to Lei, she was being serious and work-focused. Second, she was trying to make sure Kazuya doesn't kill Heihachi, and third, she even saved Michelle from Kazuya. I don't see why Jun's personality in the motion picture pertains to Tag 2.

Serious, that might be it. Jun, and Michelle, take themselves too seriously, somehow at odds with how the characters were in the games. Though on the other hand what do we know of them from the games? Well we get the idea that Michelle, just as an example, is probably not that uptight, her Tag 2 ending is probably as out of character as Lars' is (y'know, All Just a Dream,) of course that game wasn't made yet but even then the two seemed not how they were in the movie.

That might be where the comparison to Jun in the movie and Tag 2 came from, or it might be just a serious fan wank. I'm open to discussion about it just the same.

Going back to Jun in The Motion Picture I just played TTT 2 with Lei (who for some reason was made up like Wesley Windham Price) and Jun as...herself, Ravens and Crows motif, Dark Action Girl, Face–Heel Turn as she is portrayed in the game. In win poses they fist bumped a couple of times, had that sort of nod in agreement, Jun posed like a Mishima and Lei was all, "WTF are you doing?" and only got the one where Jun ignores him like she does everyone once. Somehow different to the film where she saw him as an annoyance and didn't really get on.

I know that Jun isn't quite the holistic character she was in her debut (though I personally think that Good Is Not Soft has something to do with it), but why do you believe she's suddenly gone rogue? Yes, there's the whole deal with Unknown note  , but at the same time, put her up against Jin, and she all but outright berates her son for straying away from her teachings (and starting WWIII). She can't be too far over the line if she's indirectly calling out Jin.

That said, there was a pretty interesting (IMO) piece of fan art on DA where the artist came up with a story concept that involved Jun, and not Jin, taking over the Mishima Zaibatsu for the plot of 6.

To answer some of your questions from two pages ago, I definitely believe that 7 will have Steve and Leo join forces due to their ties to Emma. And with Steve being a guinea pig in Zaibatsu experiments on the Devil Gene, I could see those two have more prominence in the next game among the non-Mishima characters. You could maybe add Nina into the mix (being Jin's Number Two/Dragon in the Zaibatsu); I feel like there's some unexplored potential in Nina's relationship with Steve, especially since, despite allegedly not feeling anything for him, she didn't snipe him when she had the chance (at least, according to her version of events in 4).

Zafina has Vagueness Is Coming as her TTT2 ending, so that could be applied to the rise of some new evil (maybe Unknown, maybe someone else) since she says Azazel's threat has been quelled.

If Kunimitsu returns, her goal to swipe the Yoshimitsu sword from Yoshi could interfere with his plans to kill Byran. Kuni may not know about the sword's cursed properties (hence why Yoshi had to obtain to Fumaken in 6), which could further complicate things if she did manage to steal it like she did in her ending.

Beyond those few examples, I don't know about the other characters, and it feels like Namco is having that same problem themselves, but honestly, how many characters have dynamically changed their motivations for entering the tournament over the past few titles?

Me personally I think of Jun in Tag 2 as less Face–Heel Turn and more, this is not the character we had come to know and love. Don't get me wrong I still love her, but she's more...murderous it seems, look at her quotes, poses and getting on with Nina. All can be explained away but if we were to draw a graph with Paragon Shepard at one end and Angelus at the other I would place Jun here for ''Tekken 2:'

((S))..((J))............................................((A))

Here for The Motion Picture:

((S))................((J))..............................((A))

And maybe here for Tag 2:

((S))..........((J))....................................((A))

Some do take her as maybe having a Face–Heel Turn, or at least slid down the hero, morality scale. The point I was making was playing Tag 2 it seemed like her and Lei in the film was somehow off if you look at how they interact in the game, but that might be just me.

I see where you're coming from, but, for starters, you probably shouldn't too heavily weigh how characters were portrayed in Tekken: The Motion Picture. Jun only really acted like what we knew of her in T2 (and TTT) at the beginning and end of the movie. It's possible that her personality there ended up influencing how Jun acts in TTT2, but at the same time, you don't see her with any kind of positive affinity towards Kazuya and/or Lei.

And on that point, how much did we really know of Jun from her prior two appearances? She's The Chosen One among the Kazama family, is part of a wildlife protection organization (and is a Friend to All Living Things, explaining her occupation, T2 and TTT2 endings, and why she's on good terms with Kuma, Panda, and Roger Jr. in Tag 2), and she has an ambiguous relationship with Kazuya that led to Jin's birth. Oh, and she beat the tar out of Devil when he tried to possess Jin in the womb. (And Wang has +1 affinity towards Jun because... he was her T2 sub-boss, I guess?) Jin understandably put her on a pedestal (and it can be inferred from what we see of Jun and her affection towards Jin that she's one of the few people who can get a positive reaction out of Jin and vice versa), and Kazuya describes her as mysterious and fearless in Scenario Campaign (despite not having a positive or even neutral affinity with her in Tag 2). Yet, she told Jin to go find Heihachi (whom she seems to hate judging by their Netsu affinities in Tag 2) if anything happened to her, as opposed to say, sending Jin to live with Asuka and her father (retroactively speaking, I can't see why Jun would completely cut ties from her family, especially a man who is likely her brother, even with Jin's Devil powers and Ogre).

For all we know, Jun might have always been this way and it was never made readily apparent because the story wasn't completely fleshed out, nor did we see Jun interact with anyone in a great enough capacity.

Or let's say that the Junknown thing is made fully canon, and it's how Jun survived her run-in with Ogre prior to 3. I'll use Jin as a comparison point. First he lost his mother. Then Heihachi trains him to use as bait for Ogre, betrays his trust, and puts a bullet through Jin's skull, something that would've killed the boy had he not turned into Devil Jin. While you could argue that Jin's core personality, that of a stoic, taciturn, but ultimately thoughtful character, remained consistent, from that point on, his vendetta against his father's side of the family and his own cursed bloodline came to the forefront. Maybe a near-death experience and subsequent bonding to/possession by some supernatural entity shocked some of the sweetness out Jun over the course of six or so years.

But those are just two theories of many. Knowing Harada, he probably wants us to be looking at this perceived change in character on Jun's part and asking all of these questions.

It's funny you mention the relationship values list, as I checked it out and saw for myself. If you play the game holding X (or square on PS 3) gets the most positive win animation, and after extensive testing (what can I say, I was curious) Jun seems out of whack. The fighters she should get along with are for the most part not as the guide says. Instead there's Jin of course, Kazuya, Nina (Fridge Brilliance there) and Leo...odds are she's never even heard of Leo but then again Asuka likes her and she's this very moral knight soldier type.

What you said is interesting...Kazuya had gone evil because Heihachi threw him off the cliff. Jin's started World War Three over what he's gone through. Could we be seeing Jun go from peaceful to if not vengeful then seeking to stop Heihachi, Devil, Ogre, stuff the dislike of violence and her whining at not to kill in The Motion Picture? A classic story but a good one nonetheless. Perhaps it's simply a case of Divergent Character Evolution, what's a good example outside of the ones I always use? Kim Possible began as egotistical, superhuman and something of a Glory Hound, then those facets were dialed back and her caring became more prominent. We might be seeing the same with Jun in that we know she's meant to be pure, holy, but as the story is further written we get a bit of a Knight Templar ("You dare defy fate?") streak in her. Much like how the Soul Calibur games had the fighters grow, adapt, change, and we are simply basing initial thoughts on the first game, and not thinking how, say, Nina and Anna tried to get on but these days are simply murderous.

Harada just showed up on the EVO 2014 Twitch stream to tell the commentators that he's got an announcement on Sunday, before the Ultra Street Fighter IV finals (which is the last event of this EVO).

It's got to be Tekken X Street Fighter, right?

I forget if he said that he didn't have anything Tekken related releasing this year, or to announce this year, but I'm hoping it's the former.

Wait, here it is...

Unreal Engine 4 isn't made for last gen platforms or the Wii U. There is a chance of a PC release though.

Fair enough.

So who do all of you think will be in it?

I guess Jun is possible. I'm still wondering if they plan on doing anything with Eliza, or if she's staying exclusive to Tekken Revolution?

And of course, we need to see where Jin goes from here after trying to destroy the world and all that.

So, how canon was Scenario Campaign anyway? I'm not too sure what to make of T6's story.

I think an official Tekken 7 topic should get made once there's an official announcement (later today).

So Xiaoyu is madly in love with Jin, and Jin recognises this, but he refuses to be with her because he doesn't want to pass the Devil Gene to his descendants. Has Jin ever considered having a vasectomy? That way, Xiaoyu gets to be with Jin and Jin doesn't pass down the Devil Gene. It's a win-win! Then again, vasectomies probably don't exist in Tekken. Therapists and counselling certainly don't if the Mishimas are anything to go by.

Harada's announcing his title now.

He's confirming that Tekken 7 is indeed real. He wasn't expecting a leak, but has a trailer.

It looks like Heihachi is no longer a Badass Normal. Seems we're going to explore more into Kazuya's mother.

And it's subtitled with "The final battle." More info to be revealed at San Diego Comic Con.

He mentioned that Tekken 7 wasn't what he was going to announce. Now I'm curious.
