^^^ K-ON! had quite a few jokes. Though it was less full of them than Lucky Star, admittedly.

I thought K-ON's appeal was the music. Weren't the music C Ds produced from the show really popular?

Yeah, they were.

Though it'd be silly to watch the show just for that since they only actually play music in like a quarter of the episodes.

I've heard of worse reasons to watch stuff.

My mom watched one show solely because she liked the decorative style in the main characters' only-occasionally-shown house.

@Glenn Magus Harvey: They found a way.

I've heard the second season is an improvement, though.

It's not really an improvement regarding the fact that nothing ever happens. That stays pretty much the same. You pretty much just have to like that sort of thing or you won't be able to enjoy the series since that's the kind of show it is.

The improvements in the second season are more like, better animation, characters are a bit less flanderized, etc.

Better animation. Heh. Of course. It's Kyo Ani. The show they just did always seems to have better animation than the show they did just before it. But who cares if nothing ever happens?

But who cares if nothing ever happens?
Like I said, it's not really the kind of show that appeals to everyone. And that's fine. I like it though. It's fairly relaxing and happy, at any rate, which is good enough for me.

[up] You were expecting South Park parody of anime?

Even when people had very different expectation of P&S, thats not normally what they expect out of it, right?.

[up]I was going to leave it up to interpretation, but if you insist...

Actually, it was more like an inverse of that specific episode. Just as South Park was parodying the most cliche parts of anime in that one episode, I was expecting Panty & Stocking to parody western animation like that. To some degree, it succeeded.

Oh hay GMH, I reposted a different WEG for Code Geass R2 that I got from SA. Also, "Linebarrels" refers to the show Linebarrels Of Iron. Also also, it's Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt, not Panty Stocking And Garterbelt.

(If you're going to be needlessly pedantic and organize them all into a directory for no reason, you might as well do it accurately)

No problem.

Also you still don't have the Code Geass R2 thing right XD

The one that Commando Dude posted is original; I posted another one that came from SA.

@ I Yellalot,

That was very funny, because when I clicked on your link for the list of "real change" that Obama has done, the very first thing listed was that he closed Guantanamo Bay prison. So Yeah

Back on topic:

What I watched: Mitsudomoe

What I expected: Kodomo No Jikan minus the Lolicon Fanservice

What I got: Roseanne crossed with South Park

What I watched: Clannad

What I expected: Love Hina with a Yamato Nadeshiko female lead instead of a Tsundere, with the corresponding shift from Megaton Punch to fluff.

What I got: Death by Newbery Medal

My impression of TengenToppaGurrenLagann. Not that I think it's just Naruto With Robots, but I was honestly expecting something dry and childish.

I don't know why people were expecting actual Chess stuff in Code Geass, it's not like the main character's symbolic catch-phrase or whatever makes any sense in actual chess.

@Sackett: I saw someone say the same thing about Mitsudumoe except with Jackass instead of South Park.

What I watched: Master Keaton

What I expected: Monster but without a protagonist on the run from the law

What I got: What I expected, plus defusing a gunfight by ramming a cherry picker into a building.

What I watched: Brain Powered/Powerd

What I expected: Something slightly similar to Gundam

What I got: I have no fucking clue, which is probably why I fell asleep watching the first DVD.

What I watched: Hunter X Hunter

What I expected: Something insanely grimdark.

What I got: Four guys wandering around almost aimlessly stopping every five minutes to consider their opinions. Just the way I like it.

What I read: 20th Century Boys

What I expected: Monster but with a bigger main cast and Big Bad with a world-changing goal.

What I got: Crazy Awesome take on The Hero's Journey in a modern setting

No offense, but most of you people suck at this meme. Part of the fun is in the pictures. When you explain it in words, you ruin half the joke. It's not hard to make one of these. I did the last few with MS Paint, taking the pictures, using the "Paste From..." function and occasionally tweaking the sizes until they were still readable.

And this is the forum I go to to escape the political debates that will inevitably end with no one's mind changed. Please take the political stuff somewhere else.

Okay, venting over. Now for content!

Watched: Birdy the Mighty Decode (or at least the first season)

Expected: Fanservice-y action anime

Got: sci-fi action with stupid and predictable plot twists though surprisingly, not as much fanservice as I expected, which is probably the only reason I didn't just drop it halfway through.
