Oh, that reminds me about how Vince Jr. wanted Carlito to "spic it up some" when they were giving him Razor Ramon's gimmick.

But I have came across Hogan's reported words, without having to watch his sex tape? Did not expected that to happen but now that I have, I still don't get it. "We're all a little racist" is a bullshit excuse. If you realize you're being racist, and it's wrong, correct yourself. That's like farting in public and instead of saying "Excuse me" or "sorry" you say "We all got do sometime."

But in Hogan's defense, WCW didn't fire Booker T after he called Hogan the N Word. Obviously that was something different because is was clear on Booker's face he knew he should not have said that the moment he did, but at the same time, that was public. This for all intents and purposes was something Hogan wanted private that didn't happen on WWE television. And I repeat myself, WWE's used race baiting tactics for years. When they also apologize for the bullshit they put on screen and or remove everyone responsible, those gestures might cause me to rethink my opinion on them. I know Mark Henry's WWECW title run was one such apology, but again, that was a response to something that happened off the clock or at least not in the view of any fans.(and they really showed how sorry they were, what with Henry losing more matches than anyone else on that brand despite being champion, WWE's clumsy publicity met it's bad booking in the perfect storm)

Need some positivity. Here's The All Night Express taking on the Factory.

As I understand it, no one is supposed to have these transcripts, as they're currently sealed under a court order (It's a bit ambiguous as to whether that's related to the privacy lawsuit or to the FBI investigation after a lawyer tried to blackmail Hogan over it). Which, of course, makes it very convenient that, at this time, no one can legally prove that what they have are the proper quotes, or the proper context.

Overall, my impression of what they have released is that it's Hogan yelling in the midst of an angry tirade about his daughter and the men she dates, so him using "nigger" repeatedly is about as indicative of his racism as a mother using "little bastard" to refer to a child they're complaining about is indicative of doubts about their parentage. I am not defending his words, but I feel like it's taken outside of context, is selectively quoted by someone who has a reason to try to make Hogan look as bad as possible since they're being sued by him, and in general just isn't that terribly shocking.

^_^ Nah, Piper's actual response can be found here where he basically points out that these were words not said in the public at a time when he was really agitated, and that he's really generally not like that.

Justice would be pro wrestlers around the world doing Elix Skipper's moves in remembrance to his career success despite Vince Jr not hiring him for acting "too white", preferably against wrestlers imitating One Man Gang during his "Akeem The African Dream" phase.

Good news, the World Wrestling League's Goddess title should be finally getting another holder in September. Personally, I'd prefer La Morena just come back but she's seemingly fell off the radar after WWL "died".

Other news, CMLL, the second promotion in the Americas to draw one million dollars at the gate is looking to repeat this year at their 82nd aniversario in Septembre. Leading up to the event, they're having a contest for kids, challenging them to write a story that includes someone on the active roster. The winner will be announced sometime during the show (that's really cute).

Meiko Satomura took the World Of STARDOM title from Kairi Hojo, which might be her first belt in nine years. I like that they've stuck with the "challenge anyone from any promotion to come take it" premise but wonder if they will take it to it's next logical step now that it's literally in the hands of another promoter?

The NEVER Open weight champion defeated The NWA World Heavyweight Champion during the G1 Climax. I know people have mixed feelings on both Tenzan and Makabe, so I'm kind of surprised there wasn't more buzz about the match up. I don't have a problem with the match or the result but Togi Makabe's going on three month reign still confuses me. I thought the NEVER belt was for young and or independent wrestlers, he is neither.

Global Force Wrestling has had a television taping, which means I will no longer be calling them the revival of Ball Park Brawl. Quarter final rounds to determine their first title holders.

Is it wrong I got upset with Nina Gologwski when she called the National Wrestling Alliance the world's oldest wrestling organization? As I just mentioned in my last post, CMLL drew a million dollars at the gate last year!

I'll just try to be happy NY Daily News acknowledged Piper's career outside of WWF at all.

The last I had heard of Piper was a shoot interview with Jim Cornette where they argued about ROH's wrestling style(Piper didn't like it, Cornette does) with Cornette saying he could retire since his idol gave him a compliment.

Wonder Portland Wrestling Uncut is still running? Will it continue on now?

In the WWE, someone didn't do their research before naming the team of Paige, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch the "Submission Sorority".

Oh who gives a fuck? Make your kids use a safe search. You know how many pornographic things are related to Chyna? Me, as a young naive wrestling fan saw none of them because I got a "warning, please go back" message. That was in 2003, it's not new technology anymore.

It's really a jarring contrast. WWE used to have a wrestler whose gimmick actually was being a porn star(Val Venis). Two fourths of TNA's longest running group are named after porn stars.

But you know, I might bash WWE but there are still lots of people there I like. Jerry Lynn's funds ended up exceeding what was asked for thanks to Chris Jericho.

*shrug* It's accidentally borrowing another's branding (and, by extension, giving some of your business to them). It's the same thing that would happen if they declared a pair of male wrestlers as "The Bang Brothers", or debuted a pair of Manotaur fanboys called the "Bronies". I personally find it more amusing than anything else, especially the various names they've come up with while trying to scramble for something new and trademarkable.

By that logic, nXt has the same name as another wrestling company's show. Better change that too. The Prime Time Players are too similar to Prime Time Elix Skipper. Paige should have gone back to being Britani Knight because of Paige Webb. XPW, Independent Wrestling Revolution, Pro Wrestling Alliance and Classic Championship Wrestling all had pay per views called New Years Revolution so WWE should have been scrambling to change that title.

WWE has never had a problem with other things related to pro wrestling showing up on a search engine but a pornography company, something legitimately not in the same business, just so happened to have something of the same name and now WWE cares? WWE consciously used footage from other pro wrestling companies like IWA Japan without credit! Yet they're taking steps to correct accidental overlap with a porno video? A search engine spike of any kind as a good sign. If people are really looking for the pro wrestling group, they're going to keep looking for the pro wrestling group when they come across something else (and maybe kick themselves for not using safe search, or God forbid, buy some pornography! It's not like killing their sister with a pile driver)

Here's an old NWA match with Piper.

I haven't been able to make the last three IWC shows, but I just got word that Rhyno is now the IWC Heavyweight Champion, having taken the belt off of Tommy Dreamer, who's held it for several months. This is an interesting tactic, having the main belt of the organization being held by guest stars... if they got these wrestlers to mention, or at least have on them, these belts at the other promotions they're at, I'd say it's brilliant marketing. As it is, the term I keep coming back to is "interesting".

In other news, Colin Delaney still hasn't been seen since his putative car trouble that kept him from being in the main match for IWC's The D4nce: Road to Super Indy, which makes me wonder if he's on the outs too.

Car trouble, I've been having that this month.

Anyway, all of ROH's title belts were once held by "guest stars", although they still saw defenses in Pro Wrestling NOAH and Dragon Gate, so yes, that situation has happened before. When AJ Styles took the World Heavyweight Title out of TNA, he defended it in AAA and Wrestle 1.

Anyway, Makabe didn't lose to Tanahashi again but he was still knocked off in his block and Tanahashi has won another G-1 Climax, which I think is his first tournament when since the CMLL Universal Championship 2-3 years ago. So...vs Okada now...who incidentally was teaming with The Kingdom...

reDRagon are once again Junior Heavyweight Champions, Michael Elgin seems like he's here to stay, so be happy Canadians.

CMLL might have the most titles of any national promotion. Turns out their still holding defenses of the original NWA World Lightweight and Middleweight Championship belts in addition to the historic versions. This side of the border we can hardly get promotions to consistently keep one division good, much less have it support four titles.

Nothing particularly special happened this weekend, besides the fact CMLL is pushing a new app, but (#3)Mistico, Volador Jr and Valiente will be defending their tercias title tonight.

La Arilleria Pesada have finally gotten their revenge on Legion and regained the World Wrestling League tag team titles. Also, I was mistaken about the Diosas title, it's back and it's being held by Ivelisse VĂ©lez...suppose that makes up for losing the Lucha Underground's trios belt but she's also being stalked by Wonder Xander. Concerning what someone else is doing away from Lucha Underground, no one seems capable of stopping The Gentlemen's Club yet, which is good news for Heavyweight Champion El Patron Alberto. A certain defeater of 'Prince Puma' is going to try his best though...

World Wonder Rings STARDOM's Five Star Grand Prix starts today and in October they will be coming to the USA.

{nods} That's informative. And, if you trust the respective promotions, it can be incredible powerful. Kind of reminds me of what I've heard of with the old promotions, where they'd agree on a champion and he'd travel the territories, drumming up additional business and giving people the faint hope that "their guys" would beat him for the title. I suspect Plummer signed these two up to fairly longterm contracts to ensure that they'll make those monthly showings to defend them as long as necessary, and there are probably people getting really fired up about making sure those belts get back into our hands so to speak.

Heh, I was about to comment on the possibility of Dreamer joining the IWC roster, and it reminded me how little that really means with most Indy wrestling promotions. Everyone is wrestling with everyone else because most promotions can't afford to put on a show more than once a month.

IndirectActiveTransport Since: Nov, 2010
#1445: Aug 23rd 2015 at 5:27:03 PM

Eh, Dreamer does run his own promotion, which in turn is a spinoff of another promotion.

As for one show a month, some promoters do that on purpose, because the time table suits the style of booking in mind, (that's why SHIMMER hasn't increased the number of shows it runs the way ROH did) or because they're using one promotion to bridge others together. (FIP-EVOL Ve-Dragon Gate USA, though now that the latter is gone I'm not sure what EVOLVE's purpose is now, FIP-EVOLVE-SHINE maybe?) But yes, many promotions run limited schedules because it's all they can afford to do (Bad Boys Of Wrestling stands out in my mind because I was convinced they had disappeared around 2005 only to suddenly find one of their staff online taking shots at ROH, which is silly because many people who worked in ROH also worked in BBOW but I digress)

Yeah Takeover, go Uhaa Nation or whatever the hell they call you nowadays. I'm sure you'll be plenty successful without my help and hope you don't take it personal when I say I think I've watched quite enough WWE programing for one lifetime. Hell, if it wasn't for friends who were still into it I'd have stopped at seven, which seems about right in hindsight.

Okay, sorry. Don't let me stop the rest of you from talking about Takeover.

Well, we know the hook for the 82nd Aniversario is a mask vs mask match between Atlantis and La Sombra. I haven't watched CMLL on a regular basis since (#2!)Mistico left and I still think I got goosebumps at that announcement.

Now, will this make the WWF\E fans who call Carlos Colon the devil rethink that statement in relation to Vince McMahon Jr? Likely not, but if this gives the family the closure they've been seeking, it's worth it.

I didn't gleam from the article how one gets charged for murder and involuntary manslaughter at the same time against the same person though.
