Children of Dievas - my webcomic about the Northern CrusadesTuvok you could argue was the start of the Straw Vulcan issue that plagued Enterprise
IE The need to show up the Vulcan
The problem in Voyager and Enterprise of course was instead of Straw arguments.. the Vulcan's would be rational and outside looking in Reasonably concerns
but due too the constant Protagonist-Centered Morality You were suppose to see the Vulcans' as the bad guys... cause they were obstructing the heroes CALL TO ADVENTURE!

It works if you assume that, like a certain other character named Archer, they're vaguely aware that their lives are full of Plot Armor and Contrived Coincidences, so they can take these big, illogical risks, secure in the knowledge that "things just usually work out for me".

But the problem with that is Archer comes off as a raging lunatic... not i see through the threads!
The problem is that Berman and Bragga came off The '80s Don't Think, Feel New Age tripe. Vulcans got Flanderization to the point that they became the insufferable nerds of the galaxy.

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48... it took about two seasons before they Finally dropped the Daniel's Kirk thing
Look I understand Micheal Shanks is the pretty one of the four... and the ladies love him but G Awd that was stupid fobble of the early seasons where Daniel was the one that got love interests of the week
These ****ing google adds refuse to let the videos to play!

Every time I see the episode title Need, I think its that episode about the guys becoming addicted ot that shiny light. Also, Stargate is the only time you will ever be able to use the phrase "Sarcophagus Addiction."
I wish his site worked better for me.
I still can't watch his Star Wars review, after a month of trying.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseThe Google ads are apparently bugged
This is a bit off-topic, but I just saw his Second Chances review, and now I'm kinda pissed that his alternate ending isn't what happened.
Seriously, what did Riker accomplish with his life during the rest of TNG? He basically just became the Chew Toy for the writers during the final season; him moving on while Thomas stayed on the Enterprise would have given the writers tons of material to work with (lord knows they needed it), and would have been a memorable moment for the franchise, and science-fiction in general.
The problem with Riker is
well Status Quo Is God and Picard and Data's character exploration's were more properly spaced out
If you believe in the Triad theory... Riker is effectively the Mccoy of the Three 'Main' characters in terms of focus... but TNG had an additional wrinkle
Worf who with the amount of devoted story arcs Just to his character you could argue challenges Riker for that position... and the Fact that Riker's character arc needed to go somewhere once he realized he could be THE Captain
In Retrospect Riker needed to pull a DS 9 and be away from Picard
or as i suggested back during the original discussion TNG cast gets split into two series, one Following Picard in his diplomacy, exploration focused adventures, and have Data be first officer and a more military focused look following Riker as Him and say Worf are stuck with more action and morally ambiguous stuff
Basically... instead of getting Voyager and DS 9, you have gotten TNG Picard and TNG Riker
... Nah you could still have gotten DS 9
The High Ground has been reviewed.
He describes it as "the episode that was banned in Britain! No, really!" but doesn't examine that any further beyond a quick "IRexit" joke.
Interestingly you can find the offending clip uploaded several times on YouTube complete with a great many commenters Comically Missing the Point.
In the review itself I see a problem with using block capitals for the credits - at 2:20 we are told that the producer's first name is IRA.

Over at the RWBY thread we had an argument over the lack of status quo on the show, many eps are Nothing Is the Same Anymore. Many lament the passing of two characters who were Bad Ass but got taken out.
Some don't have a problem that. On TNG Riker did get stale. Harry Kim is the Ur-Example of a static character who the writers treat like a toilet: you only notice when it's not working. Ensign Kim was the Butt-Monkey in one ep until he was that in almost every ep.
Riker was either the Jerk Jock, Crazy Awesome or a punchline-because Star Trek tv writers fear change.
Funny that a company founded by gamers on a couch can produce RWBY with more character development than a multi-billion dollar studio....

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48I can barely stand the RWBY thread anymore
ever since 4 people decided the thread was THEIRS and any conversation that isn't in their interest or promote their idea of Angstporn which the series obviously should be... Its just unpleasant to be in.
Riker's problem is they developed him... but didn't want to take the next logical step in that development
Its the act I enjoy!
The act?
"I think they made the first serial killer transformer."
Oh, just wait till he sees Rampage.
Next B5 review is War prayer. OK, Chuck is reviewing the entire run (or at the very least the first season) in order now.
Children of Dievas - my webcomic about the Northern Crusades
Anyone else finding Chuck's voice weird in the B5: Mind War review, for those who can see it?
It's not in his following SG-1 review so I assume it was a temporary thing.
