Doppelganger's Rampage is an YouTube Machinima action series made with Garry's Mod, created by the 6-man team of OluapPlayer, ShermanZAtank, Kugawattan, LEtheCreator, Shirosaki97 and SarisKhan, essentially serving as a crossover between their works. It features a Team Fortress 2 villain Freak known as Doppelganger, who assaults various TF2 Freaks and copies their powers along the way. Will our heroes be able to stop this menace?

The series ran for nine episodes, but was never concluded, as most of the team no longer make YouTube Machinima as of 2022.

Episodes:

This series provides examples of:

  • A God Am I: Doppelganger declares himself a god in Episode 9.
  • All Your Powers Combined: What Doppelganger is striving for in his quest for ultimate power.
  • An Ice Person:
    • Medizard, the ice-elemental wizard. And of course, Doppelganger once he copies Medizard's powers.
    • Icy Spy, who is an ice statue of a Spy. He has the notable distinction of being one of the only TF2 Freak encountered by Doppelganger who wasn't fought or murdered.
  • Arm Cannon: This is how Soldine's Black Box and Gatling Gun manifest. For Doppelganger, he has to transform his arm Body Horror style in order to use them.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: In six of the seven episodes, the evil Doppelganger triumphs against his heroic opponents. (The exception being against another villain)
  • Barrier Warrior: Doppelganger can use Medizard's ice barrier as both a shield and an attack to crush his foes with.
  • Beat Them at Their Own Game: Most of the TF2 Freaks that Doppelganger faces all get defeated by their own ability copied from them.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Medizard was about to be cooked alive by Magic Mann, though the timely arrival of Cyborneer turned the tides of the fight.
    • When Doppelganger has the heroes pinned with his Gatling Gun arm, Ninjineer appears and saves them by disabling it with one of his shurikens.
  • Blasting It Out of Their Hands: Doppelganger disarms Soldine's Gatling Gun Arm Cannon via this method.
  • Bullet Dancing: Doppelganger performs this when Soldine fires his gatling gun at him.
  • The Chew Toy: Captain Demoman and his subordinates.
  • Dem Bones: Deed Goy, who looks like a skeletal Scout.
  • Evil Laugh: Doppelganger usually does this at least once in each episode.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Doppelganger versus Magic Mann.
  • Elemental Barrier: Medizard can create a barrier out of ice as a shield. After copying it, Doppelganger uses it to save himself quite a few times.
  • EMP: Not exactly electromagnetic, but Ninjineer's gear shurikens are effective against machines by causing them to stop working. Copying this proves very useful against Soldine.
    • Later, Ninjineer uses these shurikens to disable Doppelganger's Australium Gatling Gun.
  • Eye Beams: One of Robot Engie's abilities, which Doppelganger absorbs. Due to its weak effects, however, he quickly discards it to make room for the abilities of the main heroes.
  • Fire, Ice, Lightning: Major Scout Guy's scattergun can be loaded with an ammo that sets foes on fire, an ammo that freezes, and an ammo that electrically stuns.
  • Forced Transformation: Magic Mann's ability usually involves turning the foe into MeeMs or rubber ducks. He gets turned into a MeeM by Doppelganger in the end.
  • Fragile Speedster:
    • Major Scout Guy is extremely fast but doesn't take much damage before going down.
    • Ninjineer. He gets the most hits against Doppelganger due to his superior speed and agility, but a few hits from Doppelganger cause him to attempt a retreat.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: Cyborneer uses Australium equipment, which greatly enhances the user. After Doppelganger absorbs his powers, he demonstrates the ability to transform his own stolen weapons into golden versions of themselves, even stronger than the originals.
  • Grappling-Hook Pistol: Each of Ninjineer's hands have one, which he uses to great advantage against Doppelganger. It backfires on him eventually, by first allowing Doppelganger to get near him to copy his powers, then it gets snapped while he retreats later, flinging him away into a wall.
  • Groin Attack: How Doppelganger disposes of Soljah.
  • Immune to Bullets: Thanks to absorbing Soldine's powers, Doppelganger becomes immune to most small arms fire, as Deed Goy found out the hard way.
  • Instant Expert/Possession Equals Mastery: Doppelganger instantly knows how to use a power once's he copied it.
  • Kick the Dog: Doppelganger usually kills weaker TF2 Freaks or regular soldiers off before the actual fight, usually to test his newfound powers out.
    • He attacks Fratman and his partying gang just for the sake of it, only leaving Icy Spy alive.
  • Killed Off for Real: Magic Mann in Episode 8.
  • Kill It with Fire: Magic Mann attempts this in his fight with Medizard by attacking him with a flamethrower.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Doppelganger eventually becomes one thanks to gaining powerful weaponry from Major Scout Guy, Ninjineer, and Soldine, the ability to infuse them with Australium from Cyborneer, spells from Medizard and Magic Mann, extremely tough armor from Soldine, and fast movement/ninja skills from Ninjineer and thanks to being a Spy. Taken even further once Doppelganger uses both Major Scout Guy's and Soldine's Super Modes at the same time- Soldine's Thunder Punch did barely anything to him, while he managed to heavily damage Soldine in a fast-paced attack.
  • Mighty Glacier: Soldine. He doesn't move quickly and is very direct, allowing Doppelganger to evade most of his attacks. However, his attacks against Doppelganger were very powerful, and he also shrugs off most of Doppelganger's attacks.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: Doppelganger can combine two abilities to create an enhanced version of the first ability. Examples include using Medizard's ice powers with Ninjineer's gear shurikens to get a huge icy buzzsaw, or Soldine's Black Box launcher with Cyborneer's Australium manipulation to get a very powerful Australium-powered Black Box.
  • Mook Horror Show:
    • Episode 7 is basically this, where Doppelganger tests his powers out on some unlucky Freaks including Demopan and Sewer Medic.
    • The beginning of Episode 9 has Doppelganger quickly dispose of Karate Sniper and his apprentice, before HECU discovers the bodies of various other Freak victims.
  • Nice Guy: Icy Spy is inexplicably liked by people, despite being just an ice statue. While Doppelganger fought and/or killed every other character he met, he simply took some selfies with Icy Spy and left him alone.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Major Scout Guy actually scores a victory against Doppelganger by freezing him solid. He then boasts to Doppelganger about his win, touching Doppelganger's frozen hand in the process... allowing Doppelganger to copy his abilities and burst out of the ice.
  • Ninja: Ninjineer, of course.
  • Ninja Log: One of Medizard's powers, he leaves a frozen statue of himself in place while he teleports away, easily avoiding damage. Becomes a very useful power for Doppelganger.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Medizard, the Ice Wizard Medic. Ninjineer, the Ninja Engineer. Soldine, the Cyborg soldier. etc. Doppelganger, the spy who absorbs all their powers.
  • Noodle Incident: Doppelganger's meeting with Handsome Rogue clearly shows the two of them have history, but it's never elaborated on. It is notable in that the two of them are content to simply engage in Trash Talk despite them both being malevolent and murderous, and Doppelganger does not even attempt to take Handsome Rogue's powers.
  • No-Sell: Soldine shrugs off most of Doppelganger's attacks with ease.
  • Off with His Head!: In the eighth episode, Cyborneer decapitates Magic Mann with his wrench, killing him.
  • Power Copying: This is Doppelganger's main ability, being able to copy the powers of a TF2 Freak by touching them. He can only copy up to six freak abilities, however.
  • Rocket Punch: Soldine uses this to hit Doppelganger hiding behind a box.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After Ninjineer gets badly hurt by Doppelganger, he attempts an escape via grappling hook. Unfortunately for him Doppelganger throws an icy buzzsaw to cut it, sending Ninjineer flying into a wall.
  • Shout-Out: Doppelganger sometimes uses voicelines from Invoker, whose voice actor's is the same as the Spy's.
  • Smoke Out: One of Ninjineer's ninja abilities.
  • Squishy Wizard: Medizard, who has powerful mastery over ice but is defeated in one attack by Doppelganger.
  • Super Mode: Both Major Scout Guy and Soldine have an overdrive mode. Doppelganger beats Soldine's overdrive by using both at the same time, allowing him to deal a crippling blow without taking much damage himself.
  • Super-Toughness: Soldine, who is Immune to Bullets and most bladed weapons. Luckily for Doppelganger, he had anti-machine gear shurikens effective against him. Once Soldine's powers are absorbed, Doppelganger himself gains this.
  • Villain Protagonist: The protagonist is the evil Doppelganger, who fights against heroic TF2 Freaks (with one exception).
  • Versus Title: The first 6 episodes.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Doppelganger and Handsome Rogue are this. Probably.
  • The Worf Effect: Episode 7 has Doppelganger demonstrate his power by inflicting this on Demopan, Sewer Medic and Stu Pidface. Episode 9 also has a part where HECU finds the corpses of even more Freaks he has defeated.
  • X-Ray Vision: Used by Soldine to detect Doppelganger who had gone into hiding.
